Chapter 4

After our character meets and maze run in the UK, we crossed the bridge towards France. We all had something different on our mind. For Shawn and I it was our most favorite drink in all of Disney...the Grey Goose Lemon Citron Slushie! :cloud9: For Katie, it was more characters, and for Michael it was getting to Japan as fast as he possibly could! For what, you may ask???

Why, the newest craze for little boys ages 7 - 10....Bakugan, of course!!!

(Yes, I realize I left Emily out...she wasn't ranting and raving for anything - just along for the ride).

So we split up. As we approached the slushie stand, Shawn got in line, and the girls and I headed to get in line to meet none other than Belle and The Beast!!! On our way we saw the last part of the Serveur Amusant show!

IMG00580-20100208-1440.jpg

I thought to myself to try and catch the whole show when we came back on Saturday with Grandmommy and Pop Pop.

Shawn passed by with Michael and handed off my slushie as the two of them headed towards Japan . We were all supposed to meet up there to do a little shopping and see Miyuki in a few minutes.

Emily was apparently very shy and not interested at all in getting her picture with the Beast and Belle so she stayed put while I tried taking video, pictures, and holding my all-important melting slushie. Even in the cold air, those things melt fast. I mainly focused on video, but managed to grab my cell phone to take one picture of her with the two characters and we headed on to the next stop. It's a horrible picture, so I won't even post it - it looks like I'm trying to protect the Beast's and Belle's identity as their faces are all pixalated! The video is cute though!

Up next...Morocco....and Jasmine and Aladdin.

Once again, Emily stayed back a "safe" distance. (Later she told me, she was just "tired"...but I know better....she is my shy little girl!)

What was really funny, was that in front of us in line to meet Aladdin and Jasmine were a bunch of middle-aged men.

OK?? :scratchin

As they got closer to the front of the line, they were joined by their spouses/girflfriends, but as they got up to meet the two characters, they pretty much told Aladdin he could step aside and they were just there to take a pic with Jasmine. The ladies repaid the favor by asking Jasmine (who was only so happy to do this) to move aside so they could get their picture with the studly Aladdin! LOL!

Next it was our turn. Aladdin and Jasmine were fabulous! They were so funny with Katie and she just stood there and smiled and nodded as they talked to her. They loved her shirt and asked her if she had traveled to all those countries on her magic carpet?

Image0567.jpg

After we finished up with those two love-birds, we made our way towards Japan to find Shawn and Michael. I think at some point along here I got a text from Michelle that she had just seen Shawn and Michael in Japan as she and her daughter, Sam, were doing a KP mission. I kept looking for her as we made our way that direction, but never did see her. We found Michael and Shawn sitting out front of the Japan store with Michael's newly acquired treasure. He was as happy as an 8 year old Bakugan lover could be.

512-Disney-02-08-2010.jpg

I hung out with him so that we wouldn't miss Miyuki coming out to setup and Shawn took the girls into the store to shop for souvenirs. As we waited, we heard "them" (who doesn't HEAR them, right?). The amazing Matsuriza drummers had come out to the upper level of the pagoda across from where we were standing so we had a great view to see and hear their amazing and beautiful performance. The drummers are so athletic and really mesmorizing to watch.

Michael got a kick out of watching some various groups of kids come through doing the Kim Possible mission in Japan right where we were sitting. He was watching them very carefully. Before too long, Shawn appeared with the girls and their treasures. He had done the Pick-a-Pearl thing with them (I was kind of bummed that he did that with them for the first time without ME, as I really wanted to see them do it but I never really told Shawn that, so I figured I couldn't be too upset about it)

IMG00584-20100208-1550.jpg

They had each picked out another souvenir - Emily got a fan, and Katie got a kimono. She looked adorable and was really into "playing the part". Shawn took her around the pavillion and took some pictures of her in various spots. In most pictures, she posed herself with her hands together....she was so serious!

They got back just in time to see Miyuki start her show. We adore watching her make her art - what an amazing talent!

After she did a few on her own, she opened it up for children to be picked and the first one she picked was Michael. He picked a shark and she did a great job.

548-Disney-02-08-2010.jpg

553-Disney-02-08-2010.jpg

I must be a bad DISer, because I had no idea that she did not let the children who she picked get to take home their animal. The last time we saw her, my niece was selected and was able to take hers home with her.

Michael was a little bummed at first, but he got over it fairly quickly since we were on our way to try out our very first Kim Possible mission.

555-Disney-02-08-2010.jpg

We had picked up a FP for the KP mission back in Innoventions which told us to go to Italy, so that is where we were headed. As we got there, she instructed us on what to do and told us that our first mission would be in....JAPAN!

Nice.

So back to Japan we went.

561-Disney-02-08-2010.jpg

557-Disney-02-08-2010.jpg

As we approached the pavillion we saw Hunter and Dave! Yay!! The boys did the mission together and I went with the girls to go and find Monica whom I assumed was nearby. I found her on a bench not too far away and sat with her for a little bit while the boys did their KP mission together.

This entire day, we had been texting eachother back and forth and all the times I would get a text from her I assumed Michelle and Sam were with them. Well then I got a text sometime in the afternoon that clued me in to the fact that they weren't together at all. Ugh. I felt like such an idiot that I had missed seeing Michelle, as she was leaving that day. It was just about then, that I think I saw her text that they were heading out for the day. Whaaa....:sad1:

Monica and her family had a dinner reservation at the Garden Grill, FPs for Soarin to use, China to try and get to (to find something for Hunter for school) and then they wanted to see Illuminations. We had dinner in France, FPs for Soarin and Test Track and then we wanted to watch Illuminations as well. We agreed to meet up after our dinners to ride Soarin together, and then split up for a bit before meeting back up for Illuminations. All set.

The boys got back from saving the world during their KP mission and we said our goodbyes. We were headed for our early dinner ADR at Le Chefs de France - a first for us!! I was really hoping for a visit from Remy while we were there.

Do we see the rat? How do we like Chefs? Are we able to meet back up with our friends or do we cross paths and miss eachother again????

Yay for the character meet and greets!! We saw the Serveur Amusant show this past week--impressive!!! I love the pics of Katie in her kimono--too cute!! And how fun that Michael was picked by Miyuki!! I did not know that you couldn't keep the candy when she was done--I wonder why?!

A great update! I personally think that Japan was the most fun land to visit on my '07 trip. It's great that Miyuki picked one of you but alas, you can't keep the item anymore.

I'll keep a lookout for another update. :)

Yes, we hit a lot of characters this trip for Katie - she was all about the characters!!

I was bummed he couldn't keep the lollipop - my guess would be some parents might have complained that some kids got free candy and others didn't. Either that or sanitary reasons, since she is making it with her hands (which is why we would have never eaten it anyway...that, and it's so pretty...)

Thanks. Yes, between the two days we spent at Epcot, I think France and Japan got the most attention from our group! :goodvibes

You don't have to wait too long for another update....here you go....

Chapter 5

We approached Le Chefs de France about 10 minutes before our ADR time. We were hoping to get in a little early, since we still had a lot of stuff to do that evening, but that didn't happen. We were seated right on time though. The restaurant is so beautiful and it really does look like it is straight out of Paris. Shawn and I have many pictures of bistros in Paris that look very similar (we were able to go to Paris in 2000 with my brother and SIL).

Even with the early dinner time, it was fairly crowded. We had a lovely waitress from Paris and she came to our table right away and explained the menu to us. On the dining plan, you can pick either an entree and a dessert or you can pick the prix fixe menu and you get an appetizer as well. Your menu selections are more limited, but what I wanted was already on the prix fixe menu so I took that opportunity to try out an appetizer with my meal.

I ordered the Soupe a l'oignon Gratinee (French Onion Soup), the Gratin de Macaroni - (Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese) and the Creme Brulee for dessert using the prix fixe menu. Shawn ordered the Filet de boeuf grille, (Grilled tenderloin of beef with a black pepper sauce) with poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois (potato gratin of Savoy) and haricots verts (green beans) off the regular menu and the Creme Brulee for dessert.

The girls both ordered the Blanc de Poulet Aux Nouilles - (Breaded chicken strip served with pasta) but Katie had a salad with hers and Emily ordered the cheese puff pastry with hers. Michael ordered the Croquette de Boeuf en Brioche - Ground beef steak in a brioche bun, served with French fries - otherwise known as a hamburger - and had a salad with his as well that he gave to Shawn. The cheese puff pastry was a big hit with Emily and I tried a piece of it and it was delicious. My french onion soup was amazing as was the baguette that they brought out with the starters. The kids were on great behavior and it felt so good to be sitting down and enjoying our nice French baguette and starters while waiting for our entrees.

I kept on the lookout for Remy the whole time we were waiting for our food, but never did see him making the rounds....oh well...maybe later. We entertained ourselves by taking pictures of eachother!

Our food came and I kept looking for Remy, but the little rat was a no-show!:rotfl2: Oh well...I was just glad at that point that I had never mentioned the fact that he sometimes appears at the restaurant to the kids! They were none the wiser, thank goodness.

Our food came and the kids and I all enjoyed our food. Shawn, on the other hand, wasn't that thrilled with his steak. He said it was tough and just not that tasty. He still ate the whole thing, so it couldn't have been too bad, but it just wasn't his favorite. Mine was very good, but like most French food, VERY rich! The creme brulee was a big hit for both of us!

We rolled ourselves out of there and headed towards The Land to meet up with Monica and family who were finishing up their meal at the Garden Grill.

Shawn took some nice night-time shots of the upside-down waterfall on the way over to The Land:

We found our friends and hopped in the FP line to get our ride-on!!

P2080296.jpg

The kids had a blast riding Soarin all together. Well, so did the adults!! We went our separate ways at that point, with plans to meet up for Illuminations somewhere near Mexico/Norway.

We were off to ride Test Track with our fastpasses from earlier that day!!What an amazing ride...and I think it's even better at night!

We boarded our car - girls in the front, boys in the back (with a pre-teen age girl from the single rider line who had to be stuck with listening to our family's antics- she was a good sport though).

I attempted to take some on-the-ride pictures as we were going but it proved pretty difficult! Here are a few of the ones I got that actually have people in them!

(I think this is when we were going through the "cold" room - Emily doesn't like the way it smells!

Katie was hilarious on this ride and I had both girls make sure to raise their arms as we were about to hit the door for outside. The ride picture was fabulous but did not show up on my photopass. :headache: I was so disappointed and contacted the photopass people when we got home, but they couldn't find it for me. All three of us girls in the front have our arms straight up and the boys in the back don't! LOL!

I did try for a couple of pics while we were going around the track. I think this is one of them.

P2080312.jpg

After our exhiliarating night time ride on Test Track we made our way back over to the World Showcase in hopes of finding Monica and family and getting a good spot for Illuminations. But why can't I get her on the phone???? Why isn't she texting me back???

Sara

Aww man!! I hate that you didn't get to see Remy?! Did you ask anyone about it? NICE nighttime shots!! :thumbsup2 Oooh--I rode Test Track for the 1st time last week and LOVED it!! Sooo much fun!!!

You're not a bad DISer, Sara! She used to give them out and only recently stopped... not sure why... but I only read about it a short time ago.

Looks like you're all having so much fun at the pavilions!

Gorgeous night-time shot!

And good call on not mentioning Remy to the kids! They would've been so disappointed! Chef's sounds good... we've never tried it.

Hope you were able to connect for Illuminations!

(Well, I'll tell you a little secret....I got to see Remy when I was in Epcot with Mom...he was SO cute!)

LOVE Test Track!!

I don't know who was more disappointed...me or Michael? I was caught unaware when that happened since my niece was able to take hers with her when we were there a couple of years ago. (Of course she dropped it right after she was given it, and it broke in a million pieces, and she was devastated...)

Yeah, I was glad the kids had no idea about Remy! Phew. My recommendation would be to try Chefs for lunch. My Mom and I LOVED it for lunch a couple weeks ago! :thumbsup2
Great photo's! They are so beautiful. :cloud9:

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Sara

WOW! I have so much to say! Your kids are just the cutest! How nice to have a little "girl time" :lovestruc Your story about Jasmine cracked me up :lmao: I love how quick the women were to get their pic with Aladdin!

Your dinner sounds super yummy! I am so bummed that Remy did not come :confused3 If they do it for "some" they should do it for all! I don't get Disney some times

I REALLY want to see the candy lady!! SOO cool Michael got picked!

Test Track is one we have not tried yet (closed last trip). I am DYING to try! The pics of the girls riding were so priceless. Their faces were full of joy

Katie in that kimono is the cutest thing I have ever seen! :rotfl: That is so adorable that she got into the part like that!!

Great installments!! I loved that you got to spend time in the pavilions. The kids look like they are having a great time. I loved the kimono and the candy lady. I had read here on the DIS that she had to stop because of health regulations :sad2:.

The night shots were fantastic!! It was great you got to do Soarin with Monica and family. Looks like you had a great time on TT one of Bill's favs!! I hope you caught up with Monica for Illuminations!

Well the way I looked at it is Remy is animatronic, so he can have "difficulties" if you know what I mean. It's understandable, which is why I didn't mention it to the kids beforehand. I knew there was a chance going in but was really hoping he would be there. :sad1: (But I did get to see him when I went to Chefs with Mom a couple of weeks ago - and I got a cute picture of him too!)

I hope you can see the candy lady - she is truly amazing. And the only woman in the world who does it.

I hope you are able to get a spin on TT next time. It's always one I worry about not riding first thing if it's a nice day. I'm always worried that some kind of unexpected storm will pop up and shut the ride down later in the day. I was so glad it was a non-rainy, great day and night at Epcot so we were able to get our Test Track ride in!!

Thanks Tracy! We really had a great day at Epcot that day - it was so nice and uncrowded and we were able to really see a lot!

That's interesting about the candy lady. You would think they could just say "not for consumption" or something and she could still give them out. I was thinking it was probably some sets of parents who complained about their kids not getting any! :sad2:

We had lots of fun with Monica's family - all riding Soarin together was great!

Test Track = pure fun!!

Sara

Good point about Remy! That is probably what it was. I will make sure not to mention it to my kids when we go just in case

OH and your pictures at night are stunning! Great job :thumbsup2

Yeah, I'm guessing the "rat" is not as reliable as the "mouse" himself! :rotfl2: Good old Mickey is still #1!!

Bummer about Remy!! When DH and I went to Les Chef de France we didnt see Remy either and I was looking forward to seeing him!!! Also thanks for educating on the upsidedown fountain, I have never noticed that!!:confused3
Cant wait for the next update!!

Isn't it a bummer? I was so sad but very glad it was just Shawn and I that were disappointed - if I had filled the kids in I'm sure I would have had a pit of despair on my hands! :rotfl:

Hope to have the last update for this day done tonight!! :goodvibes

Sara

Wonderful updates! We spent the most time in Japan. The kids love it there. I'm sorry you missed the girls picking their pearls. I think you should go back your next trip and do it again and get one for yourself. I finally did it this last trip with my girls and loved it. Katie looks so good in her kimono.

Sorry Remy was a no show but your food sounds great. I have yet to eat there but I'm putting it on my list for someday.

Test Track rocks at night. I think it and BTMRR are so much funner at night.

Hope you made it to Illuminations.

Chapter 6

We left Test Track with that great post-ride "high" and made our way back towards the World Showcase over the "short-cut" bridge by the First Aid Center. I tried texting Monica to see where they were, but never did hear back. Then I tried calling her....nothing. So I texted Dave. Nothing. :confused3 Then we just happened upon Monica and Megan near Norway. That should tell you how uncrowded it was! Apparently she didn't have her phone (or it was dead, I can't remember) and Dave was with Hunter but they also had the stroller (which I think had her phone in it if I'm remembering correctly). She kept searching for them but since she couldn't call him, she was getting frustrated! I think she ended up calling him from my phone to let him know where we were. A few minutes later he showed up with Hunter and the stroller and all was well! :cheer2: Shawn got us a couple of drinks and some snacks at the stand right there across from Norway, and we settled in to watch Illuminations. :cloud9:

P2080315.jpg

(Goofball boys)

We were right under a big tree but right up against the rail and the kids had a great view. We got these spots at around 8:45!! I was so excited for Shawn to see Illuminations as the only other time he saw it was our family trip in 2008 and it had been raining for most of the night and the sky was still covered with very low-lying clouds. Consequently, the show just was lacking a little something. I saw it the following December with Monica and Michelle on our girls trip and I couldn't believe how much of it we had truly missed in 2008. Then when Shawn and I went in May last year it was raining as well. :headache: This night was beautiful and I knew we would be able to see it in all of its glory! Shawn didn't have a tripod with him, so he balanced his camera on the railing and ended up getting some great shots of the show. I will just shut up now and let the pictures do the talking. I've got a ton, but in hopes of just moving this report along, I'm just throwing in a few here.

The show was great and I was so excited to be able to be there with great friends and share it with them. :grouphug: We all started to exit the park and a couple of the girls fell asleep in their strollers (I know Megan did, and I think Katie did as well), but the boys were walking and giggling all the way to the monorail. It was hilarious. Hunter has this laugh that is just contagious and he had us all laughing as we were heading out. I don't even remember what we were laughing at other than just the boys' laughter!:rotfl2:

We made our way up the ramp to the monorail and we waited. And waited. The monorail was taking forever this night, but eventually one came and we all boarded for our rides home to the Poly and BLT. When we got to the TTC, we exited to walk back to the Poly, and Monica and family transferred monorails to go home to BLT. We said our goodbyes and agreed to meet up with eachother for rope drop at the Studios the next morning. ::yes::

Shawn took the kids back to the room and I headed to the GCH to check and see if Shawn's package had been delivered yet. He had ordered a tripod the night before and had it express shipped to the Poly so I thought I would check on it for him. It also dawned on me that I could check on Katie's shoes (remember the shoes) that she lost on her first night, Saturday. This was Monday and I thought maybe someone might have turned them into Lost and Found. :confused3

I walked up to the nicest CM at the Poly check-in desk (they are all nice but he was especially cheerful) and unfortunately both issues were not resolved. No package. No shoes. I did fill in a form for the shoes and then made my way back to the room. The kids were asleep and I cleaned out my park bag and got stuff ready for the next day!

Toy Story Mania....here we come....
