A Smile in my Heart–Magical Week of Friends,Fun & Freezing-10/28-COMPLETE!

In Sara's defense, I don't ride RNC anymore either. Both times I rode it I got off feeling disoriented and a little sick to my stomach. Not for people with equalibrium problems like me. I also don't do round and round, but can ride Tower of Terror all day.

So you don't do upside down rides? You don't really feel like your upside down though. I don't really like the restraints on the seats that go over your body because they make me feel closed in. Hey you know I don't ride Dinosaur or anything jerky because I'm too old for that now . There definitely is a bird section. Is it on the gorilla trail :confused3 maybe? I have been on it before and I think they give you those laminated cards so you know what kind of birds to look for. As many times as we have been to Disney one would think we would remember :lmao:.

Yep - there were definitely laminated cards with the birds on them. Someone in our group was holding one. I think it must have been Monica's Mom!

Sara, I am here to redeem your sanity!! My mom remembers the bird trail!:cheer2: Apparantly some of us even took bird guides to identify the birds. I do vaguely remember walking through hanging chains, but I didn't think that was at Disney World!:rotfl2:

:banana: Yay Peggy! Monica, tell your Mom I love her!!! :rotfl2: I'm glad I'm not crazy! Yes, there were hanging chains, Monica. It's all coming back to you now, huh? :rolleyes1

Mine is just pure terror anymore. I used to ride them all and then years ago, when I used to work at Kings Dominion, my roommate and I went on all of the roller coasters in about an hour and a half and I thought I was going to be sick! That was the end of the upside down coasters for me. Actually any coasters that aren't Disney, I'm kind of afraid of. :confused3

Hope to have an update up tonight! It might be a short one, but it'll be something!!!

February 7th - Animal Kingdom - Chapter 5!

As we left Everest, the kids (well, the kids plus Nichole and I) were on that great just-got-off-of-a-killer-ride “high” and made our way to meet up with the rest of the group who were waiting for us over in Africa! We arrived to find Katie asleep in the stroller with her hand in a bag of cheetos.

(Pic stolen from you, Michelle!)

Shawn, of course, felt the need to stage a cheeto to look like she fell asleep that way!

A few people were in the bathroom, so we hung out there and waited for a bit, gave back everyone’s tickets that we had used to get fastpasses for Everest and chatted. :hyper2:The park was really not very crowded, and Michelle had looked up the crowd charts on her phone from touring plans and it was rating AK as really bad that day. The safari was posting a 10 minute wait in the standby line at that point, so I think touring plans had missed the mark on that one.

After everyone was regrouped, we made our way into the FP line for the safari! Yes, we could have just gotten in the standby line, but hey we had fastpasses and by golly,we were using ‘em!

Since you can roll your strollers right on through the majority of the line queue, I just let Katie sleep in the stroller as we weaved on up to the front. Once we got to the stroller area, I had to pick her up. She stayed asleep though.

We got up to the front and told them we had 18 so they held us up there until a brand new Jeep came along and then we boarded. I think we took up 5 of the rows….although totally unbalanced! Monica’s Mom was sitting up in the row with all four 9 year old girls plus Megan, so that was 6 in one row…whereas Monica and Michelle were in a row all by themselves, as were Charlene and Luke! Oh well….

The minute I sat down, Katie woke up. But she was in a great mood, thank goodness, so we were all set to enjoy our safari through Harambe!!

Would all the animals be cooped up somewhere warm like the komodo dragons and bats from earlier, or would the cold weather bring the animals out and into the open for all to see????:scratchin

Our first two animals.....

Apparently, the safari animals LOVED this chilly weather! We were actually able to see a hippo out of the water which we have never seen before. :yay:

We had a great and very fun safari! It was such a fun thing to do all together and the weather certainly helped bring a lot of the animals out and in the open.

We left the Safari....and came across a few characters...stay tuned.....who did we meet? Where did we go next?

Sara

Sorry it was such a short update....but I got through the Safari....every little bit counts. Hopefully the next update will be a little more lengthy!!

The Safari is so fun to do as a big group! The girls were all giggly and the boys were all bouncing around in the back row! :rotfl:

Thanks Kathy! I always seem to start my reports with better intentions of getting it done quicker....here I am almost a month after starting it, and I'm not done with the first full day yet. Oh well! :rolleyes1

The safari is a great ride to do all together when you have a big group! Everyone can ride, everyone laughs and has fun, you all sit together...it's just great! :goodvibes

i never did like them cheetos too much. this is very well written trip report.

Thanks Colt! Maybe a whiskey sour with those cheetos would help! :rolleyes1

Sara

Wow! Great safari pictures!

What fun that must have been travelling in a large group like that! :goodvibes

It was a ton of fun! I would have fun doing anything with those girls!! The kids all really enjoyed having some other kids to hang out with too! :grouphug:

guess cold = good safari :confused3
Great pictures though

Yep! :thumbsup2 Although, I've never really had a BAD safari! We have never been to AK when it's been super-hot, so I can't speak from experience there, but I can see the logic of going in the morning if you are there in the summer time.
That picture of Katie asleep with her hand in the Cheeto bag is too funny! :lmao: Great pics on the safari! :goodvibes

Thanks! I love that pic too! She laughs every time she sees it!
