A skeptical family of First-Timers take on WDW Nov 15-22** NOV 28 update

Joining in! I just caught up on your pre-trip report and it sounds like a great trip! And since today is october 1st, your trip is officially next month! :yay:

Love the new camera and luggage! Red is the perfect color for Disney too :)

I have no idea where FIL kept going but it was getting on my nerves! He wa trying to quit smoking back then so he might have been sneaking puffs of smokes to try to energize. Obviously didn't get the memo about hydrating at end of day and potty breaks were scheduled in.

 that's pretty funny. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on David because he'll try to sneak back to the resort for napping I'm sure and naps will only be happening during the allotted nap times that I have scheduled in!:lmao:

Your husband David is cracking me up! I can't wait to read about his reactions on this trip.

Hey there. Seeing you on here reminds me to go check your report for any updates! :goodvibes Did Vegas go over well?

Yes, I think the most fun of my whole trip will be proving my husband wrong!:lmao: He doesn't hate on Disney exactly but he just is a true skeptic and is very leery that he'll have fun and he's just convinced we're all too old for the place and that it's just a big ol' baby thing to do. I'll be sure to do a very detailed trip report when we get back to fill ya'll in on the details of what his impressions were!

p.s. 39 days to go:banana::banana:

Well.....we're in the 30's now!!:banana: For some reason when I logged onto the Disney site and saw "38" it was like "wow!" that's actually feeling close now. Something about the 30's......

In other news, I'm a loser and basically have been sitting by the mailbox waiting for Mickey Mail. I've never gotten any Mickey Mail before because the one time I went to Disney the trip was booked through Julie so she got all the goods in the mail. Plus, David is in Korea and I'm sad and lonely:sad2: so it's the little things like stalking the mailman that keep me going.

I got a little excited when they released the Room Only discounts the other day because technically I could have gotten 2 of my days discounted but I ended up not doing it because it was just a big pain to not save alot of money. I got on the phone with a CM who helped me crunch the numbers and to make a long story short, I would have lost some of my bounceback discount in order to do the new discount and would have paid the fee since I'm paid in full and within 45 days, yada yada and I think in total I could have shaved another 90 bucks off but I actually didn't bother. Maybe that was sort of lazy of me, I don't know but it just seemed like a hassle to do 2 different reservations and I didn't want to pay the dumb fee and so forth.

I've been continuing to force the family to watch Disney Movies and they are actually having a pretty good time though they wont admit it. I'm having a hard time though finding movies! See, my kids are 11 and 14 and back when they were "into" princess and Disney type movies, we had VHS and I've since yard sold them all I think. Luckily my Disney buddy Julie has a bunch of the DVD's so I've been checking them out from her but she seems to be missing all the ones I want to watch. waaah. WE have Netflix but I never seem to get organized with them so I need to crack down. I ran to the library and have found a couple which was good. I still really want to see Lilo and Stitch (not sure I EVER have seen that one), Bug's Life, and Pocahontas, and a Muppet Movie. Speaking of Muppets and the show they have at DHS, is there a specific Muppet Movie I should get on Netflix that will sort of tie in with the attraction?? Also...David admitted to me the other day that his favorite Disney movie is Jungle Book but only because of the music. Is there even a Jungle Book-y attraction at Disney anywhere??

Well, I know this is sort of a boring update but there really hasn't been anything too exciting to report. Hopefully my next tidbit of news will be that I received the coveted Mickey Mail!!

When's the last time you sat by the mailbox waiting for mail, huh?

Actually, sounds to me you made the right move, especially if it meant splitting your reservations. Remember, I wasn't going to make a move to save $150, and only did it when the savings became $225+, so $90 I wouldn't bother.

As far as Muppets - the best thing to probably do is get one of the DVDs of the original Muppet show. They are all available on Netflix, we just got the 1st one from the first season. DD didn't like the muppets (she doesn't like 3D mostly) and was determined NOT to watch it, but once we started watching, she started laughing.

Honestly, if your just going to watch a few episodes, I would go for season two when the show really started to feel its stride and look for guest stars your kids might know. There's one episode where they get Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), if your kids are at all into Star Wars that would be a good one.

Alternately, The original "Muppet Movie" is probably the best of the movies, since it tells the story of how the gang was formed, but the 3-D show at Disney is designed to be like the original Muppet show, so to me that is the best example.

One last thing to mention for the MuppetVision 3-D.,one of the rare shows that the pre-show is TOTALLY worth sitting through as it is hilarious, especially the Mickey Mouse cameo.

Stalking the mailman....:rotfl2:

We have the first muppet movie in the que for Netflixs for the beginning of November, since the kids really have no background I am opting for the Muppet Movie so they can see how the show came about...plus one of my favorite songs "Rainbow Connection". I too got rid of my Disney VCR tapes about a year ago...what was I thinking?! :confused3 Most of the time the library does not seem to have the movie that I want nor does the local Hastings to rent it...so needless to say we have become members of netflix...but that makes me really think in advance to what movie is up next.

Your husband David is cracking me up! I can't wait to read about his reactions on this trip.

Me too...sounds a lot like my skeptic husband...but mine does not say a word either pro or con about the trip...it is like he just chooses to ignore me!:rotfl: The only input on the trip I have gotten is that he is NOT eating at Boma (one of the places I really wanted to try).

I'm waiting (not so) patiently for my Mickey Mail too - LOL!!!

There is no Jungle Book attraction tie-in that I can think of. Unless maybe on the Great Movie Ride? They have Jungle Book statues at Pop Century though.

This is so weird, I commented yesterday on all this and submitted it but it never appeared. My computer is being very glitchy so I hope I'm not double posting.

Thanks for all the info! I think we'll go for the Muppets Movie and I'll que it up in Netflix.
p.s. I still think you did the right thing with doing your split reservation and it's going to be fun to hear what you end up thinking of the new place versus Port Orleans.

Yep, I am a stalker and it wont be long before you get to stalk yours too!:lmao:

Boma huh? Too exotic I wonder?
my husband does a lot of ignoring me too so don't feel bad:laughing:

How many days out are you? I just got my mail yesterday!!! 37 days out to be exact.

WELL Lookey what I got:banana::banana:

The stalking of my mailman paid off so I tackled him and got these yesterday. I'm at 37 days to go so those of you waiting, expect your mail about this time.

I've been planning this trip FOREVER so it's nice to actually get something official like this in the mail because it means it's finally close!

Ok, one other thing real quick:
I've officially watched the weirdest most annoying Disney movie ever. COUNTRY BEARS!! :lmao::lmao: yep, getting desperate in the rounding up of movies to watch on our movie nights and this one was available so it was better than nothing. But, wow, let' just say I'm not going to run out and buy the platinum disc set any time soon. No offense to anybody that loves this movie of course. We did laugh through it though and now the kiddos will be familiar with the Country bear Jamboree so the mission was accomplished.

Did the mailman live through the tackle? I sure hope he has good workman's comp! So excited for your Mickey mail....

You did not like this movie....:rotfl:aren't you glad you did not force your dh to watch this one with you....or you might be going to MK by yourself!

Yay! for Disney mail.

And I think I knew, somewhere in the back of my mind, that there was a Country Bear Jamboree movie, but I'd managed to successfully block it out until now

what are you saying?? :lmao: Yes, I'm pooh sized but our mailman is pretty stocky so hopefully I didn't hurt him too much:rotfl:

oh....and you are NOT kidding. If David had been around when we watched the Country Bear Movie, he'd be demanding a refund on our trip. As a matter of fact, the whole time we were watching it, me and the kids kept saying, "whew, glad dad isn't here to see this".

Yay! for Disney mail.

I hear ya. I may need to seek counseling now.
