A Simple Guide to Making an Autograph Book

wow some great work in here.

I have a question though, I am looking at making a photobook from snapfish for autographs. Is the binding strong enough to handle mutiple opening and closings and the general use an autograph book would take. Secondly with snapfish you are not allowed to get the prints in matte finish on photobooks, is this a problem?

Right now the book is in my projects and is at about $55, which is no problem if its worth it. I just think I would spend that on ink in my printer to print out so many pages, then to go have binded and what not.

What your guys opinion

thanks.

MusicMouse,
I love the most recent cover you did for Jacob's Autographs! Would you be able to do two for me?

Alyssa's Autographs (in pink font)
December 2010 (if it fits, if not no worries)

Gianna's Autographs (in pink font)
December 2010 (if it fits, if not no worries)

Thanks so much!!!

Thank you so much for making that!!! DS is going to love it.

We're on the fence about MVMCP, but I'm really hoping it works out and we are able to attend it. Will this cover work for a 4x6 book? I think I'm going to use Natalie's pages, as they are just too darn cute.

What would be a realistic number to make? I don't want to go overboard and make 893284932 different pages for every character known to man, but I also don't want to just have 10. You know? We're there for 10 nights and this will be for DS who will have turned 3 in October.

Thanks again!

This cover will work for any rectangular-sized book (4x6, 5x7, etc.), just adjust it to the size that you want. I made 5x7 covers for my 4x6 cards to give them a little extra protection. I would make all of the cards listed in post #2. It covers the characters you are most likely to see, and I keep it updated on a regular basis. I also like to remind folks to include five or six generic cards in case you meet some of the characters that are considered to be "rare". :goodvibes

We here on the thread have had good results reported from Snapfish, Shutterfly, Artscow, and Walgreens. You don't get your choice of finish, but it's OK because a Sharpie works just fine on all of them. I would check out other photobook sites in addition to Snapfish because they often run discount specials on their photobooks. I got a 40 page 8x8 book from Artscow for $11 just last month. If you sign up with your e-mail on these various sites they will inundate you with coupons and special offers! :goodvibes

:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:thank you!

I like the idea of a 5x7 cover for a 4x6 book. Just makes it a bit sturdier. I will use that list provided, thanks for keeping on top of it! If I do this at home and print everything on card stock, I can take the front/back covers to Kinkos or something like that and have it laminated and bound with a coil, right? How much does something like that typically run?

MusicMouse,

If it's not to much trouble, may I also request a cover from you? Your design is fabulous! It's the one in the post above that says "Jacob's autographs", but I would need it to say Lindsay's autographs. Thank you so much!:worship:

They will laminate your cover or offer you a clear plastic cover sheet to cover your book. I had two books done at FedEx/Kinkos and it cost me $10.:goodvibes

Thanks for everyones help on here and all the links to the different pages available and what not.

We have planned this upcomming trip for about 13 months or so. And when I get bored I want to make something for my daughter so she enjoys the trip that much more. So about 4 months ago I made her custom autograph books. Just stock 5x7 colored thicker paper and chipboard covers with scrapbook decals on it. They turned out great.

But then I found this thread. So I made a photo book in Snapfish just to try it out. But after I did all the pages it was over 100 pages. So I thought it would look like a text book. So I figured I would split into 2, character meals and just meet and greets. So I made the meet and greet on Snapfish and it was I think 70 or 80 pages. Came out to be $48 shipped for a 5x7 book. I finished book on Sat and I just got an email it shipped today ( MOnday).

But for the Character Meals I thought I could do it myself, maybe save a few bucks. On snapfish it would of cost about $24 shipped. So I bought 40 5x7 sheets of photopaper about $24 a piece of chipboard $3 and then after printing I took to Kinkos and had them punch and wire spiral bound it, that was about $7. Plus if you add the cost of an ink cartridge it was much pricier to do it myself. Now I am very happy with it, and I cannot compare it to the snapfish book, but it seems using a company is a bit cheaper to go. I hope to have my book in a few days and I will post pics of both.
