A Silly Question about Mission: Space

I am so excited -- 14 days from now we will be at WDW!!!! What's doubly great is that from what I've read on this board we might get a chance to ride Mission: Space!

OK, here is my silly question. Is is a bad idea to wear a ponytail onto Mission: Space? I've read about the high G-Forces on this ride, and that you should put your head back onto the headrest and keep it there during the ride to prevent getting motion sickness. A ponytail causes a lump of hair on the back of your head, and I am wondering if the G-Forces are so great that it would cause that spot to be painful, or maybe force your head to the side so it's not on top of the lump. Would it be smarter to just undo the ponytail prior to getting on? Or can I just brave it with the do? :p

Any help with this silly question would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Hmm...that's not a silly question, and it's actually quite a good one. I don't know the answer, but I think I'll make that day a french braid day!

I always put my hair in a ponytail when I am at WDW so I am also interested in hearing from anyone who might have experienced this already. Thanks!! :D

We, DH, DS and I went on Mission Space in July (Yes it was opened evenings while we were there) I wore my hair in a low ponytail every day and had no problem on Mission Space. If you wear it in the middle of the back of your head you may have a problem, but a low or high one shouldn't be a problem.
The place I actually felt the most pressure from the G-forces was in the top of my chest.
Hope you get on. It is a very interesting ride.

Nope, ponytails are fine. I ALWAYS wear a ponytail at the parks, and have the 2 times I have ridden Mission Space, and never noticed it to be uncomfortable.

Thanks for the information! I will plan accordingly. The french braid idea sounds foolproof -- I might try that too.

i dont think the ponytail will be a problem. i just was on mission space last week, adn the last thing i would be thinking about was a lump inthe back of my head... i was thinking too much about not tossing my cookies!!!!

I rode it on July 22 and had a pony tail in right smack in the middle with thick hair (big lump) and honestly didn't think about it until this post! It's not a problem, don't worry about it!:)

How rough a ride is Mission Space exactly? Is it more of a Rock 'n Roller Coaster type ride? What would you compare it to? Sorry I have a bunch of questions but I'm not a roller coaster person. I like BMRR but not Space Mountain. Never did RNR. Did TOT once and that was enough for me.

Also, I will have two kids (ages 8 and 5) with me.

Ponytails are okay but I do advise against hard hair clips as they can get uncomfortable.
