A SEVENTH ship coming to DCL!

Scott (DCLBlog) is saying it will be the same size as the other two... I'm sorry, I know a lot of people like that size. :(

Ah, that is a shame but good to know before my hopes get too high. Thanks.

OK, ok - Uncle, I surrender. Maybe need to trade in our beloved DVC for a DCL cruise club. How many points do I need to buy for 7 cruises a year?

So excited, here are some more details..

  • The ships will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same size – approximately 135,000 gross tons with about 1,250 guest staterooms planned
  • Last year, we told you that tow new ships were going to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany with scheduled completion dates of 2021 and 2023. This additional ship will be built at the same shipyard and is scheduled to be completed in 2022.

So.... the 7th ship will be the 6th ship launched?

I still think Asia is a long shot - if they do it, hopefully they will have learned from the other cruise lines who have had issues and even pulled ships from that market. It is NOT like any other market for cruises.

Care to elaborate...? I think I know what you are talking about but the stories coming out of Shanghai weren't as bad as I had feared and I haven't really heard much about the cultural divide continuing to be an issue in the last year. Maybe it's not as bad as all that..?

From what I read on Cruise Critic, Princess completely pulled one of their ships because of issues with the market - I didn't go down that rabbit hole.

And I think it was a year or so ago there was a RCCL ship that law enforcement had to be called because people were refusing to leave the ship because the itinerary had been altered. Never mind that it was to keep them out of a major storm.

I've also just read report after report of the general attitude displayed by the majority of the passengers.

Can the Asian Market be done? I'm sure it can. And given that Disney has the parks there they may actually be a line to pull it off. But I would just hope they approach carefully and educate themselves.
