A Sensible Dinner - Pearlieq's Journal

Hi Pearlieq~

A month away from your cruise... You must be so excited!

I'm glad to hear that you are doing well and that things have slowed down for you and your DH for the time being. :goodvibes

I hope that the call you were waiting for went well. I know how it feels to be waiting for an important call. I always get a bit nervous.

Have a great weekend!

So DH and I are now superhero crime-fighters! OK, not really, but we did do our good deed for the day. We were pulling to Borders and found some idiot who left their dog locked in the car. It's fairly warm out, the car is in direct sunlight, and there wasn't even a window cracked! The poor dog was pretty agitated.

We waited around for a few minutes just in case the person had just run in for a minute to do something quick (not that that's exactly better--they could have at least cracked the window!) and no one showed. DH called the desk at the sheriff's office and reported the car and gave them the plate. They said they'd have a city officer come out. We left out on our way, and not 5 minutes later, DH got a call from a person he knows at the sheriffs office. It turns out they ran the plate and found out the owner had an outstanding warrant! Ha! Take that, you animal-abusing creeps!!! It felt good. :teeth:

Otherwise, things are quiet. DH is napping and I'm watching mindless TV. I should work out, but I've had some tightness over my knee and I'm trying to give it a rest today. I'm going to Curves tomorrow.

Cruise shopping is going pretty well. I've got all of my dresses. Now I just need a few casual tops, a pair of shorts of two, and some basics (slip, shaper, pantyhose). That should cover me for the week. DH insists he's fine.

I finally broke down and bought a new bathing suit. With apologies to the Simpsons, it's not just good, it's good enough. It looks about as good as a bathing suit would on me, but I'm not that crazy about it. Still, there wasn't much of a supply, it's comfortable, and it will do for the season.

Congrats on saving that dog! I just don't understand what in the world people are thinking when they leave a dog in a hot car. :furious: Its nice that you took the time to get involved and report the idiot. Hopefully, he won't do that again.

Have fun planning your upcoming cruise. Glad you were able to get a bathing suit.

Hi there,

I just wanted to thank you for thinking of that poor dog....he does not deserve to sit in a hot car...Good for you for taking action!!!!

You are doing great! Keep up the great work!

Just a quick update of yesterday's story. The sheriffs made it to the store in time to intercept the guy who left his dog in the car. He was actually arrested due to the outstanding warrant (it was some kind of drug charge). The police took the dog until someone could come claim it. Ha! Karma's a bear, ain't it? :teeth:

I'm having a pretty quiet day. It's gorgeous out! I'm trying to start limiting the time I spend on the computer. I feel like I'm wasting my life and I think it's really contributing to the weight I've gained and kept on in the past several months. I did really well this morning. I'm about to log off now. I'm going to make a Wal-mart fun (oh, the fun...) and then I'm going to take myself on walk.

Have a great day, everyone!!!

You sound(well, write) so happy now, Pearlie! I'm very glad!

Thanks for helping the poor dog! That makes me SO angry!

Hope you're having an awesome week! I LOVE your weekend escape! Good for you!!

Maybe this guy could be punished by being locked in a hot car for awhile to see how he likes it! But then there are even more heinous people who leave their kids locked in cars, what a nice world we live in.

I agree with limiting computer time and that too much contributes to weight gain. Not too many calories burned on the keyboard I am afraid! I need to watch that too, I have been on the dis a lot in preparation for my upcoming WDW trip. Hope you got your walk in and that you had a great day!

Hi there,

Just wanted to stop in and say hi! Did you get your walk in yesterday?

Hope you are having a great day!

Well, today was a pretty big wake up call. For the last week I've been having some tightness in my knee, and it's been getting worse instead of better even thought I've been trying to rest it.

I finally went to the doctor today, and I guess it's fluid in my knee. It's from a combination of over-exertion and the arthritis I've got developing. The doctor was pretty frank that my weight was causing this and that it would only get worse. He kept saying "you're way too young for this".

I hate this feeling of not having full use of my body! I hate feeling stymied and sidelined. I don't want this as my future. Time to get back to work!

In other news, my MIL is coming in today and staying until Saturday. I hope we can find enough to do and talk about. We don't really "get" each other. DH is about the only thing we have in common.

I am kind of excited, though, because this feels like the last thing we have to do before the cruise. It's as if after this visit is over it's open season on getting ready for our vacation. I can't wait!!!

Good evening, Pearlieq! :sunny:

Can't say as if I have had time to catch up on your journal yet, but looks like I came just in time.

Sorry to hear about what the dr said, but I will agree with him, it will only get worse. My grandmother has a really bad problem with one of her knees and for 20 years (at least) the dr has told her that she could control the problem if she lost weight. Unfortunately, she never really heeded his advice. Now she ends up with infections in her legs and it swells so bad she ends up in the hospital. The last stint showed 4 blood clots and entire leg is huge. There is not alot she can do about it now other than to lose some weight. But it irks me to think that she could have changed the whole scenario along time ago if she had just lost the weight. Her problems are what really scared me into losing weight. (Of course me legs aren't working either rignt now, but that is another issue. ;) )

Good luck with your MIL and I can't wait to start hearing about your trip as it rolls around.

Here's to a healthier new you! :thumbsup2 ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hi Lesli! It's so great to see you again!

The good news is the rest, ice, and meds have helped tremendously even just over night. I think if I keep it up I should be back to normal soon!

Thing are going pretty well with MIL. I used to get so tense around her and I had this horrible hostility toward her, but for some reason in the past year that's just disappated. I feel fine about the whole thing now. I don't feel like she's prying or judging all the time. I just feel more calm and confident about interacting with her, and that's making life so much better!

We had a pretty good time last night just chatting and watching TV. Today she and DH are at a Cubs game, and tomorrow's going to be a shop-a-thon up at Woodfield. I can't wait!

I'm still trying to keep the lesson I learned yesterday close to my heart. I really think I need to focus on one thing right now, which is only eating when I'm hungry. That really seems like the key to everything now. If I can learn that lesson and in make it a full part of my life, I think I will have solved about 70% of my problem. So that's what I want to focus on. I don't care if it takes me the rest of the year. It's what I need to do.

Hi there,

Just wanted to pop in and say hi!!

Hope all is well. Have a great day! Keep up the great work :)

Well, I took my knee on its first walk today. So far, so good! I really missed being about to get out there!

Eating has been ups and down for the last week or so. More downs that ups if I'm being honest. Still, I'm still trying, which is the important part. I'm trying to make it a goal to eat in more. I think it will be great for us, both from a health perspective and a frugality perspective.

The cruise is just around the corner! We're just 2 1/2 weeks out now! I'm very excited! I'm starting to put things aside to pack and there's about a million other things I need to do. I just can't wait!!!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Good for you for getting out and walking...I need to do more of that, I never do though!

2 1/2 weeks? Where has time gone?

Glad the knee is feeling better. Have a great week!

You're right, eating only with hungry is a key, and a VERY hard one!

Hi pearlieq~

How did your weekend go? Your cruise is in just a few weeks, right? I bet you are really getting excited for that! :Pinkbounc

Hope your knee is feeling better... Take care! :goodvibes

Long time, no post!

We just got home from our cruise. Here's a link to my trip report: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=12683165#post12683165

You're the only people I'm telling this to, but I gained so much on the cruise that the scale can't even read me!!! I'm sure most of it will flush out over the next couple of weeks, but that was still a bad moment! DH is up 14lbs himself, though again, I'm sure it will come back down quickly.

Hi there,

Iam glad that you are back from your crusie...

I am sure the vacation weight will come off in no time!!!!

Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Happy Monday :)
