I noticed that SW Orlando offers vacation packages. I was wondering how and if other families make SW the center of their vacations like people do with the Disney parks; especially since it seems like SW is viewed by many as just a day trip or side trip. My DH and I love SW and really enjoyed it when it was in Ohio. We are disappointed that we don't have one closer to us to take the kids to. My DH thinks going to SW would be a more relaxed pace for the kids than the Disney parks, but I don't think we can buy both SW tickets in addition to our upcoming WDW vacation with 7 day Disney park tickets this time around. I'm thinking maybe SW would be nice for our next trip. Does anyone plan a vacation with SW as their base for the week? Thanks :thumbsup2

We have stayed a week and had fun, its a slower pace than Disney's parks and we find it a great alternative,

What we have done though includes Sea World for 2 days, and We head to Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove and AquaTICA. You can purchase a ticket for all the parks and a Dolphin Swim, This makes a very relaxing and fun trip.

If you were to head just to sea world for a week without its sister parks you might be bored after the 3rd day or so, 2 days is really enough to do everything and see all the shows a repeat some of the favorites, depending upon the season.

Busch Gardens isa nice park and has some more thrilling rides and a large zoo area as well.

We purchased a ticket combo for all the parks for a week for 250 and that came with Discovery Cove which is a fun place.

It takes me three days to just do everything at SW. We are going for four days this time so it will be nice and slow. We have bought tickets to DC which includes the SW tickets for up to 14 days. Our date is costing $140 at DC without the dolphin swim as I like to do that in Mexico for MUCH cheaper plus we will have four days in SW itself, then 2 days at Universal.

Total ticket price, $262 for 7 days. That sounds like a bargain to us.

Haven't made it a destination "yet", but planning on taking kids next year to experience SW at Christmas.

toontoy has it right... there are some amazing packages you can get, especially if you do Discovery Cove. They have a very reasonable addon that gives you unlimited entrance to multiple parks. Go check it out!

Thank you for the suggestions. I think a combined Sea World/Discovery Cove trip would make a great vacation. I forgot about Discovery Cove and Aquatica! The combo tickets also look like they are a good price.

We usually visit SW a few times during our trips. This year i have booked Hilton Garden Inn at SW for 4 nights, to take advantage of SW in the evenings, as we never seem to get there for an evening mostly during the day, plan on visiting Aq, and a week at the beach with a visit to Busch Gds, and then Universal.
Have not visited any Disney parks in 5 years of going, DD is just not interested in disney parks now, although always ask when we are there if she wants to visit any.
