Let me set the scene for you.....

(warning: possible long post coming......)

Teenaged DD is out driving with DH, taking full advantage of her well-earned learner's permit and her Daddy's good will. (This may be hard to believe, but DH and DD don't always see eye-to-eye on speed, radio stations, etc....)

They are in a town about 20 miles from home and DH calls me from his cell. DD is driving. I can tell that he is a bit frustrated but I have never, ever, in 27 years known DH to panic. He gives a couple of instructions to her as we speak and then he says, ".....wait... slow down.... Hold on, Claudia......"

He doesn't say, "I'll call you back" but just "hold on".

The next thing I hear is DH, very loudly saying, "You can't do that! Stop! (mumble...... mumble) and then

the cell phone goes dead!

Now, I'm 20 miles away, thinking that one of three things just happend.
1) they had a bad wreck and the cell phone was smashed, as well as my DD and DH.
2) they had a near miss and DH was giving DD a very pointed driving lesson on the edge of the road.
3) they were fine and DH would call me right back.

So I waited........

I waited 5 minutes. I thought, "He'll call any minute now..... any minute....."

At 10 minutes, I'm thinking that DD has probably disolved into tears over the incident and they are both composing themselves.

At 15 minutes, I am upset that we didn't get a vehicle with OnStar for my DD. I wanna know where they are, if the airbags have deployed, and if the gyroscope indicates that it is upside-down in a ditch somewhere.

At 20 minutes, I'm searching for my nephew's cell phone number because he is with the Sheriff's department in that area.

At 25 minutes, I finally get through and DH answers. "Oh, yeah, I forgot to call back......"

He was now driving and DD was fine. She had started to make a bad lane change but it was not a big catastrophe. They had been in a store for that past 15 minutes!

I don't think I'm gonna live thru these teenage years.........!

Oh my! I'm glad it ended well. :teeth:

Don't you just so love those words, "I forgot to call you back". Makes me want to scream. Glad to hear all is well.

That would have scared me too! Glad it all ended well :)

I hate when someone "forgets" to call.

Glad it was a happy ending.

YIKES, Claudia. That would have scared me to death. I'm really glad that your worst fears didn't materialize and that both your daughter and your husband are safe and sound.

My oldest DD gets her learners permit in September.....you are NOT making me feel any better about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe teaching a daughter to drive is a father-daughter bonding experience, not a mother-daughter....but again, I may be biased!

 Yikes!!!!

So nice to have visited with you and Mallory again and grand daughter too this weekend, Claudia. :sunny: I enjoyed it.
