A Safari Christmas Goes Pop! (w/pics)

I was asked what Disney stuff I have in my classroom. I'll be honest. I wish I could bring a lot more to work, but I love my Disney stuff and keep most of it at home. So, here it is:

This is the area directly behind my desk, on the counter. You'll notice the Mickey ears. On the back side is my teacher name (last name), which is normally facing the students, but I turned it around for this pic.

Here is my Winnie the Pooh pen/pencil holder. Look closely at his ears. Within the first week of it being on my desk, where it originally was, it was accidentally knocked to the floor. While I was upset to see it broken, Pooh now has that worn, loved teddy look. :goodvibes

Okay, let me explain this next one. I had gotten a gift one year of a school house bulletin board. For a while, I didn't know what to do with it. Then, I had a great idea. . .put WDW post cards on it! When in doubt, make it Disney. :thumbsup2

This next pic will show you one of my first Disney pieces in my classroom. What can be better than a patriotic Mickey with him saluting the flag?

My latest addition to my classroom Disney collection is the poster that came with the Mickey puzzle I just completed. You know that had to go up on my classroom wall!

So, that's it for now. When I go in December, I'm hoping to add to my classroom Disney stuff. If any of you have any ideas of things that would be great to use in my classroom, let me know. I'm open to ideas. :goodvibes

How fun for the children... and you! :thumbsup2 My godchildren, who are three, just went to a new classroom and their teacher has a Disney room too. They will be here next week so school is getting them ready!

That's great! Us Disney teachers always try to do our part by instilling a love for all things Disney, right in the classroom. It's the least we can do. :goodvibes

Your classroom is so so so cute! The only thing missing is a few hiddlen Mickeys. :lmao:

Thanks! How do you know the hidden Mickeys aren't there? They could be hiding. :rotfl2:

Thanks for sharing your Disney-fied classroom!! :thumbsup2

Love your room!! Last year my DD was in pre-k and her teacher loved turtles so she had us looking everywhere for something with crush for her teacher. Her teacher this year said she likes Nemo, so I can feel it coming!!!

You're very welcome! :goodvibes

Oh, I love Crush and Nemo!!! No matter what your DD wants you to go around looking for, for her teacher, just remember one thing, "Just keep swimming!"

I love the pictures of your classroom!

Aw, thanks! I do what I can to Disney up my classroom, but my favorite is still my Disney home office. I really want to add to both my classroom and my home office area Disney stuff when we go on the trip. :woohoo:

I just found your pre trip report and was so excited reading it as my family will be going to disney world for the first time this Christmas! We were going to do a split stay at pop and contemporary, but then reality hit, since we only started planning three weeks ago, and we thought we needed to scale down.
This will be our only chance to take a family vacation, myself, daughter, son in law and my two grandsons, before my son in law re-deploys to Iraq Jan. 10th or so.
We will be staying at Pop century and my daughter got a code in an email that gave us free dining. Unbelieveable! Made the trip so affordable!
We were considering upgrading to deluxe dining, but with a two year old and a baby who will be 10 months old, we figure one table service meal a day will be enough to get through! We do have some great things planned though and I am very excited.
I learned a lot reading your report, thanks!

How exciting! :woohoo: Going for the first time during Christmas will be amazing. You were probably wise to scale down. Besides, like we began to realize, it's better to put more money towards spending. There's a lot of great stuff to buy at WDW. :thumbsup2

When will you and your family be there? Do you have any questions I may be able to help you with? What great things do you have planned? I can't wait to hear more. I'm glad my PTR was able to help you. :goodvibes

A while back we pre-ordered a Disney Christmas Tree. It's not an actual tree. It's one of those collectible things. On Friday, when I arrived home from work, it was on my doorstep waiting for me!!! :woohoo:

I haven't taken any pics of it, yet, with my camera. But, here is what the pic of it from the website of the company. BTW, it plays all sorts of Christmas music, the Santa and reindeer rotate around the top and parts of it light up from within.

Isn't it cute? It will always remind me of my Christmas trips at WDW! :santa:

SO cute!! Where did you get this from?

Hi!! :wave2:

I know I enjoyed at least 1 previous TR from you and am excited to find another! Sounds like you have some fantastic plans. To be there over the holidays themselves -- how magical. I am going to see the holiday decorations in person for the first time this year (earlier in Dec) and can't wait!! It's hard to imagine the most magical place on earth even more magical but I'm sure it is! I am planning on the Candlelight Processional but the narrator for my date is still TBD. I'm not sure you can really go wrong here but I have my fingers crossed for a "good" narrator.

Hope your school year is off to a good start and you're having fun counting down the days 'til a Disney Christmas. Oh- I'll also be staying at Pop in December so if you have any "Pop tips" let me know. :)

I love that tree!!! I am afraid at my house, DD would probably want to mess with it so much it would get broken!! It is too cute.
So are you getting settled into the school year?

I got it from http://www.collectiblestoday.com

They have a lot of great Disney stuff, and they offer payment plans, which is the only reason we got the tree. You should definitely check out their stuff. A lot of Disney cute stuff!!!

Hi! It's always great to get a return reader. It makes me feel like this: :goodvibes. I think we have some amazing plans, too. I can't wait to go. I know that it's hard to imagine the most magical place on earth even more magical, but oh, it so is! I know I posted a bunch of pics from last December's trip both on this PTR and last year's TR, but they seriously can't do the experience justice. You will tear up A LOT, if you are anything like me. You definitely can't go wrong with the CP, no matter who the narrator is. I don't know if you attend church, but it was like that, with a beautiful sounding choir and the reading of Christ's birth read by the narrator. The effects of how they do everything at the CP are over the top and I found myself crying at some points, because it was so amazing. Then again, I'm a sap, especially at Christmas time and especially at WDW. :goodvibes

So, I guess you've never been to POP. Did you request any particular area? I've only been there once, but we absolutely love it. For one, they don't share a bus system with anyone, which is a big plus, but it can be a hike to get to the bus stop from the parks, specifically at the MK. To go anywhere, they have the bus stop separated into sections and we found them to be very efficient. We were there during 4th of July week, which is supposedly only slightly less crowded than Christmas time.

I don't know what age bracket you're in, but for my DH and me, we loved looking at all the 80's stuff. In the lobby, when you check in, you'll see a wall full of shadow boxes with stuff in them from all the decades. You'll get a big kick seeing things that may not exist anymore, but you enjoyed as a kid.

Also, you'll have a ton of opportunties to take pictures. The oversized icons that represent the different decades are GREAT! We missed taking a lot of pics last time, because we knew we'd be back, but I wish we had. This time, we're taking pics. I love Lady and the Tramp, and when we were last there, we stayed in the building in front of Lady. Not only was I thrilled to see this humongous Lady right outside our door, but there is a walkway to the side of that building that is a great shortcut to and from the buses. The pools are both really nice, but in December it will be hit or miss if we'll go in. It will depend on the weather, even though all WDW resort pools are heated to temps in the 70s during the colder months, so they can be used year round.

The gift shop is fairly extensive. We enjoyed cutting through it on our way back from anywhere, to pick up something new or check out the latest merchandise. Definitely check it out, before you shop anywhere else at WDW, to see if they already have something you might have purchased elsewhere.

My DH both loved the food there. It has to be one of the best resort counter areas. The food, from the main entrees down to the sides and desserts are great! I don't recommend trying the cheesecake though. It's tie-dyed and you'll get a nice surprise in the bathroom for a while afterwards. I'll leave it at that. I never tried it, but heard it was great from a lot of people, though they all had the interesting bathroom experience.

I hope I helped give you a clearere picture of what to expect. Is there anything you want to know about what goes on during Christmas? What week will you be there? For how long? Is this trip include any kids? There is so much to do and enjoy.

I love that tree!!! I am afraid at my house, DD would probably want to mess with it so much it would get broken!! It is too cute.
So are you getting settled into the school year?

I would recommend getting it and putting it in a high location or in a curio cabinet if you have one. It's so pretty and the little details are amazing. However, I totally understand how you might be afraid of having it near your DD. You know your DD best, though if you could figure out a way around her curiousity, then it's a great buy.

I am definitely getting settled into school. I feel like I never left. I really love my classes, though I have at least one challenging student, but that's normal. I brought home work to grade this weekend and am still muddling my way through it all. This week, we have Back to School Night, which is always hard because we have to return at night after being at work all day, but it's always nice to see the parents of the kids I'm teaching. Thanks for asking! I love teaching. :teacher:

Tomorrow will be double digits!!! :woohoo:  :woohoo:

I can hardly believe it. Between being back at work and soon being in the double digits, we'll be moving right along. Before I know it, December will be here! :santa:

Hurrah for almost-double-digit-dancing!! :cool1:  :cheer2: :yay:

Thanks for all the info on Pop. I'm in my mid-30's so the 80's would probably be a fun area for me! Do you typically request a certain area pre-arrival?

Thanks for the warning on the tie-dye cheesecake. I'll confess that it doesn't look at all appetizing to me in the first place but I'd never considered the "after-effects"!! :rotfl:

I'll be there Dec 11-16 and it's just 'lil ole me. I'm not sure where Prince Charming is... he is late to the party!! :sad2: That's also the same dates as Mousefest so I'm gathering up the courage to participate in some of those meets as well. I had to cancel my summer vacation for work reasons so that has led to my "bonus" trip to WDW in December even though I'm already going in October. None of my "real life" friends share my love of Disney so I decided that I'll just go without them! Wish we were going to be there at the same time so we could meet!

I am a total sap so I am sure I will be teary at many points in the trip but esp candlelight processional. I guess the narrator for my night has been named -- Monique Coleman?? I've never heard of her... hope she's good. I'm doing the dinner package so hopefully that works out well.

Picture and shopping opportunities are important to me so good to know both abound at Pop!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info!!! :goodvibes

We don't normally request a certain area ahead of time, though for this trip we requested that building by Lady for love of all things Lady and the Tramp and the closeness to the bus stops area.

You should definitely do Mousefest so one, you can share your adventures with us and two, you might meet some cool people! :thumbsup2 Hey, maybe your Prince Charming will be among them. You never know. :goodvibes I wish we could meet too, but unless you move your dates, that won't be happening this December. Teaching dictates when I can go places.

I looked up Monique Coleman and she was one of the people on High School Musical and on a variety of Disney Channel shows, as well as others popular shows. See? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monique_Coleman

I just read your PTR. I can't wait to read more. :surfweb:

Woo hoo!!! You are so right, even though it seems so far off December is going to be here before we know it!

On December being right on the corner, this is how I feel: :cool1: :santa: :cool1:

Isn't it a cool tree? I'm so glad I got it. :goodvibes
