A Rolex Vacation on a Timex Budget: Sept '11 PTR (TR is Live!)

Bummer about the hives. I hope you get better soon  Don't fret over a little gained weight. Remember muscle weighs more than fat! So long as you feel great than that's what matters. Keep up the exercise and don't get discouraged :thumbsup2 I love your purse. What a great idea! I hope no pins fall off when you're walking around. Just keep them in check cause those backings never stay on!!!

Thanks for the motivation! I geuss I should ignore the scale and pay attention to the mirror. :goodvibes

Big Metal Chicken entry

Grab a kleenex. You are going to laugh until you cry. This might just cure your hives!

Seriously, though, I'm sorry to hear about the hives issues and hope that they will disappear so you can get some rest.

Thanks! Hives are still around, but manageable, and we are coming closer to figuring out why they are happening!

:woohoo: on being 38 days away from Disney!!

Oh no on living with a massive case of hives - hope you get better before your fun weekend

It is annoying when you up the workouts and the scales don't show for it :confused3 It could be muscle/water weight so the results may show in a few weeks.

Have just been to WW myself and about to share what happened. Thanks for thinking of us and your earlier post. Precautions have been put in place today plus it is raining so we're hoping that will make everyone stay indoors!

Thanks! I did spend the weekend sick, but it was still a great time... I will have to recap some very funny portions of it later today....our group made every rookie mistake at an amusement park.... it was like reading the "what not to do" part of the Unofficial Guide!:lmao:

Awwww, sorry about the hives and to hear you're not feeling well. Last summer I had an itchy rash on my neck, which creeped up to my ear and scalp. After a few days of prickly pain, I went to the doctor... only to find out I had shingles!

Hope you're better soon and have fun at Hershey!

Thanks! All signs are pointing to a tooth/gum infection (again) causing the hives. It actually is probably a good thing, since the LAST time this happened, we thought it was due to the medication.... apparently, it was the infection itself! (Making me less worried about adverse anitbiotic reactions now....) Silver lining, right?:confused3

Love how the purse turned out, esp with the mini vinyls on it :)

Yikes, hives is not fun :( Hope it gets better soon :)

Thanks! The little lucky cats are by far my favorite items on the purse!

Jen- so sorry to hear about the hives! Hope you are feeling well soon and you enjoy the fun weekend at Hershey!

Thank you!

Glad you got your purse done and are happy with the results!

Thanks! Also, I got your PM, glad you liked them!:goodvibes

I just wrote a long reply to you & my computer shut I.E. down & restarted it...grrr!

Anyway, just wanted to tell you that I understand what you were going through with the hives! Its such a horrible feeling! :sad2:

I hope you're feeling better now! I actually had hives 2 weeks ago on the weekend. Of course I woke up at 7:30am that day & the pharmacy didn't open until 10am. My DH and I spent 2 1/2 hours looking up medical websites & calling everyone we knew (which just made me feel worse!) I was so nervous about taking any medications or even using calamine lotion since I'm pregnant! I'm sort of a hives expert because both my dad and my brother used to get them all the time. I remember weeks at a time when my dad had them & they just would not go away. Ironically, no one in my family is allergic to any medications, foods, etc....its so strange! :confused3

That's so scary, too, when you're pregnant, so everything is that much more likely to be an issue! The thing my doctor said which was interesting to me was that hives (or "true" hives, as he called them) are not usually related to an allergy.... or if they are, they go away quickly, in a day or so. They are usually related to an infection of some sort...which we are now finding out is the case with me (and my never ending tooth drama). I'm still waking up every morning with the annoying little (BIG) welts and now I'm scheduled to see my dentist on Thursday. My dentist who I am not thrilled with, because they took my wisdom teeth out because this happened.... now they are gone and it's STILL happening? That makes me think, 8 months later, the teeth weren't the problem! But I digres.....

I tried to rest/sleep but of course that doesn't work when you're so itchy! I finally went to the pharmacy and they said it was safe to use calamine lotion & take Benadryl. To be on the safe side, I bought the children's version of Benadryl & only took half a dose. Luckily it began to work towards evening -- but I woke up Monday morning with them again! :sad2:

They finally went away Monday afternoon which wasn't terrible. I was miserable for about 2 days but I was glad it wasn't longer! I really, really hope you are feeling better!!!!

I love the Coach purse with your pins on it!!! It looks great! Of course my favorite part is the Vinylmations!!! :lmao:

Aren't they adorable??? I wanted to keep trying for the whole set, but Mike finally reminded me there wouldn't be any room for them if I did. Besides, I figured I had been lucky so far not getting any duplicates!:thumbsup2

Your AK plans sound great!!! We love AK because its a very relaxing atmosphere! We love walking on the trails & just taking our time. We always seem to do the most at AK which is odd considering it closes earlier than the other parks! Last year, in mid-June when there were 120-180+ wait times for pretty much everything, we walked the trails at AK ALONE!!! We were shocked!!! It must have been an off-time or during a show. We still aren't sure why it wasn't crowded like everything else but it was perfect & soooo relaxing!!!

I don't think you'll have a problem going on both EE and the safari with such low crowd numbers that day! Just relax & enjoy your special day together!!!

I can't wait to hear the rest of your plans!!!

Thanks! I'm starting to look forward more to the "relaxing" aspects of our trip rather than the fun stuff. That might have something to do with our past weekend....lol.....

Oh I almost forgot! I also wanted to comment on the diet plans. For years, people have recommended Weight Watchers to me. I always thought it was too complicated & I didn't want to figure out points everytime I sat down to have a meal. People would tell me about it & I would just sort of roll my eyes at them & comment how its too much work! :lmao:

Well, a couple months ago, my best friend finally convinced me to try it. I got a website from another friend (that's much better than the one on WW) that shows points for tons & tons of restaurants. I can email it to you if you'd like -- just PM me your email!!! I ended up losing 9 pounds in less than 3 weeks. And I honestly have trouble with any diet. I've never found one that works for me & I've honestly tried them all many times! I exercise like crazy when I'm dieting & cut back on food, yet nothing ever works. This new WW program is the first that's ever worked! Of course this was all before I found out I was pregnant & now I've been trying to gain -- but as soon as I have the baby, I plan to start WW again! Its honestly that good! Just wanted to share that! :goodvibes
I am sending you a PM, thanks so much!

One more thing -- I understand what you went through with the ADR's! Before I made ours, I asked my DH a million times for his opinion. I asked if there were any restaurants that were "musts" for this trip, anything he really wanted to try, etc. I then asked him again the night before making the ADR's. I went over the entire list with him at least 20 times. He told me that he just wanted Garden Grill & other than that, it didn't matter. He said he trusts my opinions & knows that I'll choose whats best for all of us. Ok -- so the ADR's have been made for months & he comes home from work THIS past week & asks me when we're eating at T-Rex!!! (WHAT???) I explained how you need to make ADR's 180 days in advance, they fill up quickly, they only have a certain amount of time slots per day per restaurant, I went over the ADR list with him, he told me I could do whatever I want, etc. Needless to say, I spent a few days attempting to get a ressie but nothing is available. I finally looked over our schedule again & couldn't find anything I wanted to get rid of to add T-Rex -- so I just stopped looking for an open time. I told him we'll do it next trip -- when Luke is older & won't be afraid. He loves dinosaurs but I am worried he'd be afraid of the earthquakes! So I guess this works out for the best! Men!? LOL

I know! At least they will have something to look forward to now...which means you'll just have to plan another trip!;)

:cool1::cool1::cool1:I can't believe it! Today I get to join in on the ONE MONTH TO GO HAPPY DANCE!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

In 31 days, we'll finally be on our way to Disney! Also, I got our Mickey Mail yesterday.... it's like it's actually happening!:banana::banana:

I told Mickey before we left on Sunday to make sure the crowds are low and the weather is amazing for your trip (and a couple of others I know whose trips are quickly approaching!)

Your bag is very cute! I hope you find the true source for your hives soon so you can better enjoy the Disney anticipation! (To the preg. gal- I had pupp at the end of my pregnancy, and safely used a steriod creme. The itching was awful...)

You're an angel, thanks for putting a good word in Mickey's ear! As I watch the latest storm rage outside I'm remembering how volatile Florida weather can be! I'm just praying "no hurricane" and leaving it at that.... :goodvibes

This is completely off topic.:offtopic:

So, the past few weeks have been difficult, to say the least. While I'm happy to say the hives have calmed down (if not completely disappeared) I'm dealing with more serious issues that may or may not be related.

While in PA this past weekend, we noticed that the right side of my mouth was drooping slightly, and the skin felt funny... didn't hurt, but felt "strange". We thought perhaps I was dealing with post-wisdom-tooth-extraction infection part 4. So we made a dentist appointment. He saw me, did x-rays, and tapped on every single tooth in my mouth....no dental problems.

By this time, my right arm was starting to have the same issue, and I was getting horrible headaches. My dentist called my doctor, who called my oncologist (Yes, long story... NHL, 2000-2001....Free of the C since then!:thumbsup2) who made me come in today. My last scan of my brain back in 2008 showed an anomaly, and they wanted to make sure this wasn't related.

All my doctors still think this is all due to some infection, and possibly (my dentist almost swears this is it...) Lyme Disease. But, because of my history, I have to get an MRI of my brain. I really miss my dad right now, because I remember his exclamation when he saw the first scan years ago. "Wait, what, there is an actual BRAIN in there?!?":goodvibes

So the MRI of my head is on Monday. I HATE THOSE MACHINES.... Not as much as Bone Scanners, but almost as much. I know that this is all probably just some weird reaction to a virus... or maybe it is Lyme Disease, but that's easily treated now that the medical community understands it.

But at the same time my stupid brain (yes, I see the irony) keeps thinking about the statistics for 10 year survivals...etc....and I can't help but worry.

That was WAY depressing for you all, I'm sure.... but you've been so wonderful to me.... and I guess I needed to vent a little. To take my mind off of it, I'm going to start working on the rest of our day by day plans... since I have fallen behind... I also have some super fun surprises to share with you!

Now I just have to hope and pray everything goes well and we make it to Disney in one piece. Two pieces. Two whole people? :confused3

:lmao:

Yeah, gallows humor.:rolleyes1

This is a great place to vent. Among "friends". So happy to hear that you are a cancer survivor.

Have they considered Bells Palsy? My cousin had that once. Minor and temporary, but nerve-wracking anyway. But I don't think the left arm thing fits with that diagnosis.

Your dad sounds like he had quite the wit. I'm sure you miss him deeply.

Sending special thoughts your way for the MRI and results. Let's just hope this is nothing but a little glitch in the road of life, and you're just fine within days or weeks. Keep us posted!

So sorry to hear all you are going through.

I hope you get some answers/good news from your doctors soon. It has really been such a rough patch for you these past few months. Has anyone told you that you could really use a vacation?

Thanks for sharing your news with us and especially your dad's comment!

Take care!

Dee

Not quite... just 10 days. It'll be the longest WDW trip I've taken... and the longest I'll be away from my DH and kids!

Sorry to hear about your health struggles. Sending good thoughts and vibes your way for the scan!
