A Road Trip Engagement...The End...Updated 1/31!

Well I hope you have one there too! Its very magical especially with the Photopass photographer there to capture the special moment :goodvibes

I don't think I'll be getting a castle engagement...especially since I've been married for 6 1/2 years!!! :rotfl:

BTW, don't know if you noticed but we are neighbors...I'm in North Andover

Your O'Hana report just made me so hungry...those appetizers were to die for!

Hello All,

Thanks for reading my fiancee's trip report :yay: Sorry it took so long for me to jump in and post.

To say I was nervous and stressed was an understatement. For weeks I had been trying to figure out just how to do it. I went through many different scenarios in my head on how and where. I had bought the ring in the beginning of November and since that day started trying to figure out how. As each day got closer and closer to the trip the more nervous and stressed I got. I knew it would be at the Magic Kingdom and I knew it would be the first day we were there, but that's all I had figured out.

When we left Savannah, I still had not figured it out. The trip from Savannah to the MK, I could not stop thinking about how and getting more nervous about it the closer we got. Then we got to the MK and we started getting Photopass pictures taking and ran into another problem. The ring was in my jacket pocket and the case it was in was huge. So if we got to close in a picture she might actually feel the ring case. So I had to stand funny, so that she would not feel it. :rotfl:

Ultimately it became a last minute decision where I would do it. I knew I wanted a Photopass person there so we could capture the moment. So as we walking around just enjoying the park, we passed the Rose Plaza Garden. There was a short line so we hopped in.

The photographer had started taking our pictures and as he was finishing up, it just happened. He said he was finished and I said "Hang on, can we take one more picture?"

It was not even a place I had thought of but It could not have turned out better. It was perfect and something that I will always remember as long as I live. Nice and sunny, with the castle as a perfect background. It was wonderful.

It was a huge relief to have asked her and the stress and nervousness was gone.

One thing to add and it was something Jen mentioned about being Twilight Zone-esc. I have never her seen so dazed in Disney or anywhere else for that matter. She is organized and knows exactly what she wants to do, where to go, etc. But after I asked her to marry me, she was totally lost for the rest of the day. She was on :cloud9: It was such a wonderful thing to see. It made a special time that much more special. Something I will never forget.

Congrasts! You did a wonderful job!!! You've made a lot of your wife-to-be's readers very jealous!!!!! :worship:

Great job Dan! It was definitely a wonderful proposal!

Tuesday December 2, 2008

Phone alarm rang at 7am and we didn’t crawl out of bed until 7:20a. We were super excited to be able to look outside at any animals that could be grazing in our mini-savannah. There were a few out today.

Showered, dressed and out the door at 9:30am. Today was our leisure day. Plan was to visit the monorail resorts to look at all the Christmas decorations and then MVMCP later that evening.

We decided to drive to the Grand Floridian and take the monorail from there. When I got to the gate, I told the security woman that we came to see the decorations. She gave me this giant smile and directed me to the visitor’s lot. It was like a mile from the front door! All I kept thinking was if I was walking this far and it was in those monsoon rainstorms in the summer, I’d be soaking wet. Thankfully for us, it was only a bit windy which was cool and we skipped to see the house.

Dan’s goal was to eat a shingle from the little store inside the giant gingerbread house. See what a mean by being influenced by those specials?! There weren’t as many people here as I expected which was nice so we got to look around the house searching for all the Hidden Mickey’s. I believe we found 9 of them. Dan got his shingle and was very happy. It was good but not great. I’m not a fan of gingerbread much.

We said good-bye to the GF and headed out to the Contemporary. On the way out, I saw this:

New Bay Lake Tower (I wrote BLT but that made me hungry :rotfl: )
DSC02751-1.jpg

Next stop was the Contemporary which was lacking in holiday spirit if you ask me. We did see a tree outside on the Bay Lake side but we didn’t go out to take pictures of it. This was really all we found.

Bored and disappointed, we jumped back on the monorail to the GF where we ventured back to AKL for lunch. Dan had pizza, I had the chicken nuggets and we got Zebra domes (yummo!) and cheesecake for dessert which we didn’t eat and took back to the room for later. Gotta love the mini fridge in the deluxe resorts!

This is when it really hit me that I was getting married. I kept telling Dan, “I can’t believe I’m going to be a bride.” It just wasn’t making sense in my head. Still really doesn’t :lmao: .

Since we had time to kill before MVMCP, we decided to do the Passporter Treasure Hunt. I brought this book on my last DCL and we had so much fun finding all the little details that you usually overlook. I highly recommend this book!

While outside at one of the outlooks, we chatted up with one of the cast members. She looked so bored, we felt bad. There was no one around and she was there to answer any questions about the animals. She is from Africa and it was only about 55°F so it was a bit chilly. It was funny how she said she loved this weather but hated it in the summer when you were scorching and melting even in the shade! Earlier that morning we saw a zebra getting chased by a deer outside our balcony and Dan asked her about it. She said they were just playing. You’ll know when the zebra doesn’t want to play anymore because he doesn’t run away and gives the deer a look like ‘ya right I’m not playing with you.’ She was great and I’m sorry I didn’t get her name.

Zawadi Marketplace had our package so we got that and returned to our room to nap. We wanted to be at MK at 4p to get into the party and enjoy the festivities.

Up next..MVMCP!!

Oh my goodness! How cute is she!?! Is she always at GF? Because I have to go visit her. :lovestruc

I just can't believe how awesome the GF decorations are, it looks simply amazing. I love that you took a day to relax and go check out the resorts. :thumbsup2

Are you calling me cute or Mary Poppins? :rotfl: J/K I don't know if she's always there because I've never seen her before! It was kind of hidden though so if you go, look out the glass doors to the left of the main lobby when you enter. I :lovestruc her too!

Look at this mug I found at the Contemporary:
DSC02754-1.jpg

I wanted to buy it so bad but I don't drink enough hot beverages to warrant the purchase. Oh well.

I am so glad you actually were able to view some animals from your balcony despite the less than stellar view!

The Grand Floridian is so pretty decorated for Christmas!

In any other place, that gingerbread house would look huge! But in the GF lobby, it looks down right little!

The scene with Geppetto is adorable, but the other lack of decorations at the Contemporary are pretty disappointing! (And it bugs me that the Geppetto scene is blocking part of the mural!)

ETA: That Mary Poppins mug is too cute! I think you should have gotten it anyway. You could have used it for water at work or something!

Hehehe, well you are both cute, so there! :rotfl:

Hmmm, I am going to have to go on a MP mission. We are probably going to eat at GF anyways so I will have to poke around.

That mug is practically perfect! I don't drink hot beverages either but it just may be too cute to pass up! :rolleyes1

Congrat's on your engagement! I had tears in my eyes reading!

I do like the monorail christmas tree at the CR!

You ladies are right. I SHOULD have bought that! :headache: The more I look at it, the more I want it:guilty: I might have to call up WDW Merchandise and purchase it. I'll call it an engagement present to myself :rotfl:

What a magical engagement!!!:tink:
Thank you burly and thanks for reading along!:goodvibes

Aww thanks Disneychix! The tears are contagious, I should have put up a warning! Thanks for reading! I thought the monorail Christmas tree was cute too. They didn't have them running though, that would have been cool!:goodvibes

Great updates. Contemporary bores me too. Other than it being on the monorail, I just can't get into it or understand why people pay so much to stay there. :confused3

Can you guess what we did first when we got there? TTA!
DSC02790-1.jpg

We walked around and enjoyed everything and it was cold! I was so glad we bought the Santa Mickey hats because they definitely kept our heads warm. Dan’s mother gave us these Mickey scarves and gloves one year and we got so many complements on them! We were very surprised by the lack of holiday outfits people had on. Nevermind the fact that some people had on shorts! :scared1: Did they not watch Samantha Brown when she said just because you are in Florida does not mean its always hot? Come on people. I’m sure there were many people that went home with head colds.

Space Mountain was not working (we encountered that a lot this trip. I think its time for an upgrade, don’t you agree?) so we headed to Toontown to see Mickey and Minnie’s house all dolled up. There was a short line to take pictures with Mickey in his house so we jumped right in.

Can’t say the same for Minnie though so we skipped her and headed back towards Fantasyland where we got in line to see Scrooge McDuck! I was so excited to see him even though the line was a bit long. The Photopass photographer was HORRIBLE! She took pictures of us before we were really ready and this is the only good one. Notice it’s only me. I had to crop Dan out it was so bad :rotfl: .

image076-1-1.jpg

The main reason for this trip was to see the icicle lights on the castle. I wanted to see them so bad. We scoped out a spot in the Hub closer to Tomorrowland with the plan to head over there right after to see “T’was the Night Before Christmas” show. Let me tell you something, the lights did NOT disappoint! Pictures do them no justice at all.

Continued next post...

We booked it over to the Galaxy Theater and they were announcing the show was standing room only at this point. We wanted to sit and there were 2 other shows later in the evening so we decided to hit one of those later.

BTMRR was calling so we headed in that direction. We got stopped by a few CM who were checking for bracelets which was comforting. I didn’t want other non-paying visitors in line! I love this ride in the dark. It really makes a world of a difference. So fun! As always, I laughed more than screamed on this ride. I have no idea why. It always gives me the giggles and it’s uncontrollable once I start. Then others start laughing at me for laughing so hard and I get a whole train full of gigglers!:lmao:

The wolves were howling so we trekked over to the Haunted Mansion. There was no one in line. Nice walk-on!

Back over to Space (still down) so we hit up Buzz Lightyear. Dan kicked my booty!

It was time for the next “Twas the Night before Christmas” show and they’d be letting people in soon so we made our way there. I was worried about this because Holiday Wishes was soon and I wanted to get back to the Hub to see it. It is such a cute show. I love how their eyes and mouths move. Makes it so much more realistic!

After the show we halled butt and the music came on as we were in Fantasyland. We decided to just stop there and the fireworks were RIGHT over us! We were so close that we heard the boom of them being shot out before we saw the fireworks themselves. It was kinda neat. We were directly behind the Mad Hatter Tea Party.

DSC02926-1.jpg

We didn’t know where to be for the Christmastime parade so we started walking over to Liberty Square. It was pretty busy but there was a nice spot up on the wall in front of the Frontierland Saloon. Dan ran inside to grab us some hot chocolate as I saved our spots. The only problem about this spot was that it was so dark and we were too far away that our pictures didn’t come out very good :sad1: The best part, the Toy Soldiers! They were so much fun to watch marching down the street and playing their horns. So cute!

Dan said Woody was inside the Saloon so we went in there after the parade. It was only Bullseye when we got there and since I had never met him, I got right in line. He was so cute! He grabbed my hand and proposed. When I told him he was just a little late and I was now taken, he got all upset and clopped away! The CM with him had to wrangle him back to take a picture with me. I love it.

Adventureland next to ride Pirates (no flash photographers on our boat, WOOHOO!) but there was a huge backup at the end of the ride. We got stuck at the jail scene with the dog and the key. It was funny watching one of the pirates constantly whistling for the dog’s attention.

On our way out we stopped at all the Photopass photographers as possible. Even if there was a long line. I wanted as many pictures of us in our cute outfits and the beautiful castle as I could!

image086-1.jpg

We made it back to AKL at 12:30a and just about immediately crashed. Another fun day!

I love your winter outfits. They are so cute. Good for you, getting into the Holiday Spirit. They especially look nice in all of your photopass pictures.

Your character interaction with Bullseye seems like it was a lot of fun.

This is a very nice picture of the two of you! You look so festive in your sweaters, hats, and scarves! (Is that a gingerbread castle in the corner?! I love it!)

I love how Minnie and Mickey's houses look all decorated for the holidays! The extra little details are great! I can't believe you actually caught Mickey while he is home! That almost never happens!

I am dying to see the castle with the icicles in person! They look so good in pictures, I can only imagine how great they look in real life.

I agree, it is fun during the day, but it is even better at night!

The fireworks and parade make the whole Christmas Party worth it in my opinion!

Love all the updates and pictures!!! Your photopass pictures came out great! Glad you had such a good time at MVMCP and your matching outfits are fantastic! Ummmm I will admit though I was one of the crazy people in capris. Ugh never again though, it was FREEZING. Oh well you live and learn right?! :lmao: Looking forward to more of your updates!!! Ohhh and can I just say one more time how cute of a couple you two are?! :goodvibes

Thanks LL! I didn't own any real festive sweaters so I bought these on Disneyshopping.com at the last minute. I loved it and wore it again on Christmas day! :santa:
