Cant we just go for a couple of days? Please Honey? The planning of a relaxing trip
The cast
Me MagicalMom 33yo Disney Lover, Commando girl
DH MagicalDad 34yo Likes Disney, just wants to relax
DD The Teen 13yo Loves Disney, I taught her well
DS The Youth 9yo Loves Mickey Mouse thinks Chef Mickeys is the greatest place ever!
DS The Pre-schooler 4yo Cant wait to get to Disney to see Mickey, Spongebob & Crash Bandicoot! (think I combined too many Disney & Universal trips?)
The Plan
MagicalDad , still worn out from last years commando trip, was just looking forward to a nice relaxing vacation this year. Possibly Myrtle Beach or Bush Gardens Williamsburg. So I begin planning. Hmmmm, never been to MB. Looks like it may be fun. Havent been to BG in a few years. Looks like they added some new things since the last time we went. So, Busch Gardens it will be.
The more I plan, the sadder I become. I search every bookstore around. They do not make a Passporter book for Busch Gardens! Where will I keep all of my vital information. No planning DVD? I scour the web for information. Where is the best place to watch the fireworks? What no fireworks? When can I begin making my priority seating? What! No character meals? I became more & more frustrated! I forgot how to plan a non-Disney vacation.
Soon it started. The whine. Please Honey Please, cant we just go to Disney for a few days??? What I needed was a plan. We always skip MGM & go to Universal. DH has no idea what exists at MGM. Then I get my brilliant idea! MagicalDad loves Who wants to be a millionaire. He loves watching the show & trying to guess the answers. Hmmmmmm Honey! We can go to MGM & you can play Millionaire. I bet youll win Honey. Youre soooo smart! Hmmmmmmm seems to be working. I caught a gleam of interest in his eye! Ill keep the kids busy while you play as long as you want! The grand prize is that cruise Ive been thinking of taking. Boy! That would save you a lot of money huh?
And so I won! WooHoo!
Due to our family size, we always stay offsite. So, I began searching for a nice suite. We decided to book the Seralago. Some mixed reviews, but the price is good. Dont matter, well be returning to the room late at night & leaving again early the next morning, like we always do. Oh wait, MagicalDad wants to relax. Hmmm, Ill find him a shady spot to watch the parade! Just booked 5 days, Thats just a couple days right?
Pin codes, post cards, email discounts. Im always noticing posts about these things on the Disboards. Whats it all about anyways. After reading a few threads I decide just to call WDW & ask if I had a pin code attached to my name. Why not? With all of these posts, people must call every few hours to ask. Still, I was afraid the CM would think I was crazy if I asked. Lo & behold! We have a code! POR at $79.00 a night. WooHoo! Thats less than Seralago & will still sleep all 5 of us. We just have to move the trip up by a couple of days. So, I go ahead & book July 4th - July 11th. Thats just a couple of days, isnt it Honey?? I mention all of the wonderful benefits. We could use Disney transportation! No more getting lost, ever single (& I mean ever single) night as we return to the hotel. The wonderful relaxing pool, extra magic hour. Youll just love it Honey!
So, were all set to drive our van down. Its only 16 hours. Done it many times. We know exactly what to expect. The Pre-Schooler will want to watch a movie that the Youth hates. The Teen will want to watch a movie that is not appropriate for The Pre-Schooler & The Youth. Eventually The Youth will become upset because the The Pre-Schooler is looking at him & The Teen will get mad because the other children are bothering her. Well stop occasionally to eat, use the potty, clean up the crushed potato chips off of the floor. Its a great bonding experience.
Then it happened. One evening while surfing the Disboards I noticed a post by Snoopy regarding flights out of BWI. I live near there! I thought. I wave my cursor over the thread & notice there are low rates. Mmmmm, we havent flown in years. I wonder what low rates are now a days. Golly! Theyre 45.00 each way! Off I run to wake up MagicalDad. After shaking him around a bit, he finally stirs. I tell him my extra, extra exciting news, but just get incoherent mumbled responses. Honey, Honey .please. There is just no waking him. I cant book this without discussing it with him, can I? I woke up with that very though on my mind all through out the night.
First thing the next morning, we booked it! This way MagicalDad can relax on his way to WDW. Hes so lucky that I worked so hard on the internet all evening just to find that special airfare & give him an opportunity to relax a bit. Shhhhh, dont tell him Snoopy found it, Okay?
So, I better book that Fantasmic dinner package so MagicalDad can relax instead of spending such a long time standing in line. Ohhhh & lots of character meals so he can have a relaxing breakfast while the characters entertain the kids! Well even go lay by the pool for a few minutes on our arrival day. That will be so relaxing. Do you think any of them appreciate how much work I put into planning these few days in WDW?
