Hardly a week goes by without another dress code question being posted on the boards. And the responses often vary
But I was just thinking of our May dinner at Palio and how it shows the wide variety of what is truly appropriate and what people will be wearing at these sort of restaurants. We got to Palio about 10 minutes before they opened. Already at the podium was another couple-the gentleman has on a sport coat, a tie, and slacks. The lady had on a long, lightweight black dress--not a gown, but a summer type dress. Then we arrived in our theme park casual--walking shorts, tennis shoes, Disney T-shirts. A few moments later, 3 fellows (around 30 years of age or so) show up. Two are wearing slacks and golf type shirts. The third is in shorts, a plain white undershirt-type T-shirt, sandles and no socks.
Just after we are seated, a couple with a child arrive and are seated at a table just to the side of us. The child has on shorts, t-shirt, and those tennis shoes that light up. The man is wearing shorts, collared shirt, tennis shoes, no socks. The lady has on jogging pants and a fancy t-shirt.
So with just these four sets of "diners" there are four quite different styles of dress--
