A really cheap PC?

Anyone know where to get one? It's for my kids, we don't need anything fancy. We have a Mac and I'd like them to be able to have a PC so they can know both systems.

dell often has 299 or 399 computers that are somewhat decent. check their website. Emachines is another company that puts out cut rate computers, but I'm not sure where to get them (best buy?) I know there are black friday specials for emachines desktops for 200-400 bucks at best buy and maybe a couple of other places. But you'd probably have to wait in line for those.

Right now I have a cheapo Compaq Presario that I got from Walmart *gasp* last year. I really don't like it, it's pretty slow, but it does what I need it to do. I just need it to search and play on the web and to do some Word things for school, so it's perfect for that. I bought it on sale and paid $549.00 for it before rebates. It came with a flat screen monitor, keyboard, speakers, etc.

I loved my e-machine, but sadly it bit the dust. It was a lot faster and a lot more user friendly than my current computer. I bought it at Best Buy for about $500 in 1999. It lasted about 5 years, not bad. I know you can get them for that price, on sale, now adays, and after rebates the price is about $399.00 or so. Not bad for a second computer or one for the kids to learn on.

We've always had a mac at home and my kids do just fine on a pc- they learn it in school. I would realy stick with mac if I were you. We got a free G4 on freecycle last year. Have you tried freecycle yet?

I was going to suggest Freecycle as well. We'll probably put a couple old machines up there within the enxt month or two. Just have to wait for DH to reformat so all personal info is wiped off.
