This is why I am never in favor of surprises with kids, sometimes the adults are the ones to get the surprise. I think kids enjoy planning and being aware of what is going on. Sometimes going to Dick's house is really what they want and not Disney World.

Thanks for posting the link. I'd heard of this clip but didn't know where to find it. My DD would love a surprise like this, but that's because going to Disneyland usually means a trip to Gammy's house, Aunt Debbie's house, Auntie Barbie's house too. (This Dick dude and/or his house must be something else!)

Not my kids either!!! But, I have to say, if they did react like that, I think I would be the one crying!!!

Our DD is 2.5 and loves Disney! She has been to WDW twice and once to DL. She loves looking at the DVC Planning book. We keep it in her bathroom and she looks at it when she's on the potty! She would be the polar opposite of these kids!

I think all kids would love going to Disney if they knew that from the beginning. But when you surprise them with it out of the blue when they thought they were going somewhere else, then it might turn out like this.

Some of worst memories of my childhood involve surprises.

This video is on the theme park and attraction forum. The dad of the kids made some posts and provided details of what happened.

Perhaps "Dick's house" is code for Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

As others said, I think the problem was that they told the kids that they were going one place and then changed gears. Many kids don't like change. If they were just sitting around the house watching television and were surprised with the trip, I think it would have been a different scenario.

I can't surprise my kids with something like this for one reason --- I can't keep a secret. From the moment I decide we are going on a trip, it is all I talk about during dinner and car rides.
