I am heading to Disney World on Sept 20th for 10 days. I am having a hard time picking a resort that sleeps at least 6 and close enough to the parks. I am showing Silver Lake , the Fountains Resort, Club Wyndham Cypress Palms, Holiday Inn Club Vacations At Orange Lake Resort,Orlando's Sunshine Resort II, Summer Bay Orlando, and Vacation Village at Parkway. I love the Fountains but, it seems too far away. I can get Bonnet Creek but, only for 7 days. Can anyone tell me anything that would help me choose ? Thanks in advance!

I always book Vacation Village at Parkway through RCI. It’s a super cheap trade, and the units are really nice. I always get a 1 bedroom that sleeps 4. If you don’t see any 2 bedrooms, you can book an A side and a B side. But that’s a double trading fee. A and B units are joined by a center locking foyer off the building hallway.

We like it because the units are updated, there are plenty of pools, parking is not an issue, it’s super close to the Disney gate, and we never hit any traffic. There is also a Publux and a liquor store across the street.

I’ve also stayed at WBC. I think the units are similar to VV@P. WBC has a restaurant and a lazy river, which make it feel more resort like than VV@P. But for the points, VV@P is a much better deal.

How many times have you been? I have heard good and bad reviews on it. They have a 2 bedroom open.

Silver Lake is a hidden gem in the area. Can't beat the access to Disney with a "back door" to the Disney property near Animal Kingdom (Sherbeth Road). Units are recently updated and fairly large, and the pools are nice and never too busy. Pools are being resurfaced now (one at a time) but should be done by September. Access to restaurants and shopping along Irlo Bronson is very good. SIL is staying there next week for the Disney Princess run.

We’ve stayed at VV@P 3 times. First two times, was fine. Last visit we got two terrible units; kitchen smelled like a dead animal (literally), rusty tub covered by a glued on mat, phones and lights didn’t work. Plus some bad interactions with staff.
Silver Lake is solid. Large units. Super close to AK and not far from the other parks. This is now our first choice for a cheap RCI trade for a Disney oriented visit.
Orange Lake is fine, lots of big pools, but very spread out. Farther from the parks than say SL.
We are staying at The Fountains next month when we visit DC/Seaworld/Aquatica. Looks like a fun resort. Not my first choice for a Disney trip but the amenities could make it worth it.

We stayed at Silver Lake 2 years ago and loved it. We happened to get a 2 bedroom very close to the pool. I thought the decor in the rooms was a little dark for my taste but you can't beat the location. Two minute drive to the right and you're on Disney Property by Animal Kingdom. Two minutes to the left and you're right near a major shopping/restaurant area. Pool area was very nice.

My family has been to Orange Lake Holiday Inn Vacation Club 5 times and have really enjoyed our stays there. The units are big and they have some great amenities. The property is huge, with 4 villages in the gated area. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the parks and there are a ton a restaurants and other shops near by. They have an internal bus system that is convenient.

Can’t find an exchange into SSR on RCI?

Stayed at Bonnet Creek last year and are going back in December. We didn't take advantage of the amenities at all, which is weird. We were there for 2 weeks in July and never hit any pools. However, the room was spacious and gorgeous and location can't be beat. We stayed at the Fountains a few years ago. Honestly, we didn't care for it. Room was OK, but it wasn't overly clean, pools, though large, were nothing special, and food at resort was nothing special.

We have a group of 8 and nothing on property shows up for me.
Do you have access to Interval? You can get two bedrooms on getaways at good rates depending on when to go, Sheraton vistana resort is close to Disney springs. I prefer Marriott cypress around 15 min away. Unfortunately their two bedrooms are small and you would need two units at least. Grand vista has lockouts as does Sheraton vistana villages.

I agree with Interval. We've stayed at Sheraton Vistana and Marriott Sabal Palms, several times each, and had great getaways deals. Sheraton Vistana has one or two bedroom units and some are sleeps 8, total. (6 private, 2 on the pullout) Sabal Palms sleeps 7 total, and the other Palms at the World Center, Imperial and Royal have 2 and 3 bedroom units. All of these are super close to WDW and right next to each other.

I believe the RCI does have the Sheraton Vistana listed, as we've stayed through skyauction before and they use RCI.

I think the 10 day stay is what's keeping other resorts off your list when you check. They're usually 7 day rentals. I remember one time a few years ago we stayed at the Sabal and had to separately purchase an extra night as we couldn't get the 8 days total.

I’ve done that too. Buy extra night or sometimes cheaper to book back to back getaways if possible
