Just wanted to give everyone a report on the Summer on the Savanna DVC event we attended on Thursday, July 26th.
Let me first start by saying this is the first DVC Party we've atteneded. Personally, I was impressed with everything.
We arrived around 3:50PM at the International Gateway of EPCOT. We were staying at the BCV so it was a short, enjoyable walk to the event. The party is held in a large, open tent. When we entered I was surprised at how festive the atmosphere was. There was a DJ with kids and adults dancing, characters roaming around, lines to meet characters, finger food, punch, face painting, etc.
AS you enter each person in your party is handed a coupon book. You hand in your coupons when you wanted an ice cream treat, fill out your raffle ticket, etc.
We roamed around and our DD7 decided she wanted to get her face painted.
There were about 4 people painting faces so the line moved quickly.
After we finished at the face painting station it was time to meet some of the characters. Some were just roaming around meeting everyone and others you had to wait in a short line to meet. I even managed to sneak into a picture....Imagine thati!
After the characters we decided to grab an ice cream treat and some punch. As we walked around I noticed my guide, Hubert, was working at the DVC kiosk. He and another Guide were there answering questions for guests about Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. I spoke with Hubert for about 20 minutes or so because I was interested in the progress of the resort.
After we parted ways with Hubert we walked around and checked out some of the decorations under the tent. DD7 just had to get her picture taken near the event sign.
My last stop was at the raffle table. I wanted us to put in our raffle tickets for the DVC baskets they were giving away. You do not need to be present to win.
On our way out we were each given a free Animal Kingdom Villas bucket hat to keep as a souvenier. DD7 is modeling one in the picture below.
As we left the event we entered EPCOT for our evening in the World Showcase.
I thought this event was very good and well coordinated. It was a pleasure seeing all the DVCers and my Guide there.
By the way, I stopped in the SSR preview center on Monday, July 30th to check out the AKV models. They look awesome! I couldn't believe how spacious they were. Pictures don't do them justice. I'm extremely happy to call AKV home!
