A question of room size

Hi,

We are DVC members, but we have not stayed at our home, WLV yet. We are thinking about staying in a one-bedroom villa next Thanksgiving (2003). However, we don't know if one of our family members can make the trip. Our question is: How flexible is the room use situation in the WLV? We are a family of 4 adults and one 3 year old; DH, DW, DS21, DD14, DD3. DS21 may not be able to make the trip, but we would like to keep the option open for him. We don't want to have to get an extra room on the off chance that he might be able to make it, yet we would like to be able to fit him into the one-bedroom with us if he can make it. We figured that we could have our DD3 sleep in a crib or on a cot. Is this do-able?

Thanks for your help.

Denis

I think this is kosher. Your youngest child is small enough to fit in a daybed/cot and I think that's what they make the rules upon. As long as the fifth family member is tiny, you are OK.

Even though you will only have one bedroom, there is a nice sized living room and the whole kitchen area. I think you'll fit just fine.

Have fun!

This post is probably going to open up a can of worms, but here are a couple facts.... The one bedrooms at VWL have a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen pull out in the living room. There is a pack 'n play in the closet in the master bedroom and that is the only bedding provided. No cots or full size cribs are available at DVC resorts, and with the bed pulled out, really no room for any additional bedding in the living room also. Now, traveling with older children, I'm sure they don't want to share a bed. So, that leaves either the boys or girls on the pull out. I know, that I wouldn't want to sleep on a pull out, and neither would my DH. Also, to let you know that according to our DVC documents, the allowed occupancy in a one bedroom is 4 people + one person under 3 in a crib.

I won't go into the room occupancy limits as they've been discussed enough. Regardless, the only way to structure either a studio or 1 BR for you're family situation is to either do boys and girls rooms or get a 2 BR. You could always schedule 2 units and cancel the one you don't need.

You should be fine! There is more than enough room for a blow up bed in the Master Bedroom. When we take Leeann with us, she sleeps in the King bed with us, that bed his huge!

Good luck with whatever you decide! Have a wonderful time!
