A question from Florida

I want to visit Disneyland in california possibly at the end of this year or at about this time next year.

And I wanted to know, how is the weather typically at the end of the year, and in may.

I am from florida, but I just want to take a small trip away from florida, and I was thinking Disneyland california.

From the website I cannot tell or cannot find the airport that I should pick nearest to the disneyland resort.

I would definitely stay at a disney hotel there, and also do you recommend renting a car?

we really would just be doing the park, and possibly a small 3 day cruise.

If you're from Florida and going in December, you might get chilly. I'm from Arizona (hotter than Florida but less humid) and wanted a jacket most mornings in December and needed my jacket/coat (and sometimes gloves) at night. I found daytime with the sun on me to be lovely and borderline warm at times. It rained a lot during our trip but that kept the crowds down and it seemed to have been somewhat unusual for December.

John Wayne Airport (SNA) is usually considered closest. If you can't do SNA, some people say Long Beach (edited thanks to Giselle; got two mixed up; sorry!) is better (a few say it's closer/faster than SNA!), while others just go to LAX. If you go to LAX then shuttle/taxi transportation to and from the parks will be a bit more expensive, but you'll have more flight options. If you can get a direct flight to LAX but would need to change planes to fly into SNA, then LAX might save you time in the long run.

If you're just doing the parks, there's absolutely no need for a car, and I find it freeing not to have one. You can easily walk to Disneyland, DCA, and Downtown Disney. Unlike WDW, there are off-site hotels that are as close or even closer to the main gates than the Disney hotels. I know a lot of people prefer the Disney hotels for various reasons, but they are all more expensive than the cheapest places at WDW, and are also considerably more expensive than most walking distance off-site properties. Just making sure your main reason for picking a Disney property wasn't proximity to the parks.

Not sure about transportation if you're doing a cruise, though.

Regarding Airports, the closest would be as the pp stated, SNA, then Long Beach, then LAX.
If you are going to be staying on site, then you will be able to take part in all of the MM's.......... Yeah!
If there is sightseeing that you might be interested in doing, then you can (Depending upon budget and interests) book a trip on one of a number sightseeing/tour buses, or rent a car or limo.. I love the idea of a limo.... eh though with my budget it would be more like a lemon he he

No need for a car if you are only visiting DLR and staying at a Disney hotel or other nearby hotel.

Possibly I will do the trip around this time next year. & will do just WDW again for the 4th time this year.

we live 4hrs away from orlando, but it seems like we are worlds appart. lol

I think I would love to do the mexican riviera cruise after going to DL in california.

As far as the weather goes in May it can very greatly. I remember May 15, 2008 (DD's softball tournament) it was so hot that day (103) that when I came home I jumped in our above ground pool with all my clothes on. Our weather here is usually 5-10 degrees above Anaheim though DL has it's own microclimate going on when it gets hot. When the sun bounces off the pavement it really can get heated.

The heat here is a dry heat-not at all like in WDW. Also, no matter how hot it is in the day, at night the temps can drop 30-40 degrees. Over 100 in the day, 70 at night. And damp too. There are only a few nights a year here where it doesn't cool down.

That being said, May can still be cool too. You may have heard of June Gloom, we also have May Gray.

We can have some really beautiful days in Dec. as well. Cold, but sunny.
