I have a Mamia RB67 that my father left me when he passed away. My local camera shop said I should sell it before film cameras become dinosaurs and then I cant get any money out of it. What are some of your opinions on this. I dont know how to use it. Getting film isnt too hard but developing it takes a while and I have used my digital now for everything that my film cameras are put away.. I just dont know if its worth learning how to use it or use the money to buy me an upgrade of my digital.

You didn't mention what sort of lens, accesories, etc. you have with the body, but in looking at the prices of used Mamiya equipment on KEH.com I don't think you'll get a lot of money from selling the equipment... assuming you can find a buyer.

It's my impression that the digital revolution hasn't quite impacted the medium format market, due to the fact that medium format backs are still quite expensive, like it has the 35mm market.... but it's catching up.

If the camera has sentimental value, I'd keep it

Boy, that's the truth! I have trouble justifying a $1400 camera body but I can't imagine spending $20-30k on a back. Strictly for the very successful professionals.

I would use the camera until you can't find film anymore. I pulled out some old medium format negatives at work about a year ago and was amazed at the amount of detail they capture. I also have a couple 8x10 negatives that someone took of me that are truly stunning (not because of the model...). Try setting up some portraits of the family or take some nice nature photos. Digital still can't touch it. Just be a lot more conservative with your trigger finger because that stuff is expensive!
