A Question for iPad Owners

I just received notice that my iPad 2 has shipped!! DH and I are leaving for a trip to Colorado on Wednesday, the day the iPad is scheduled to arrive. Hopefully FedEx will get here before we leave so that I can bring the iPad along on the trip.

My question is: When I go through airport security, do I need to take the iPad out of my carry on bag and place it in a bin like you would with a laptop? Or can I just leave it inside like I do with my iPhone?

NOPE, you will need to take it out of your backpack just like a laptop. HTH.

I've always taken it out, even though they told me I didn't need to. I got too many questions about it. It was just easier to take it out. (Although I do leave it in its case).

Did you buy the camera connection kit? It's really useful for backing up your photos, plus you can share all your photos with everyone on your gorgeous new iPad!

I traveled with my iPad1 in February and did not need to take it out of my carry-on in either Miami or LAX Airports.

Note that you will need a computer with iTunes to initialize the iPad when you first get it.

I have had both experiences, I have had to take it out and when I forget was not stopped.

Although do not put it in the same bin as a laptop - I was 'scolded' for that.

Just went through a couple of minutes ago. Ipads and other tablets are exempt and can be left in your carry-on.

I always leave mine in my carry-on bag. Out of 20+ flights, I have only been asked to take it out once. That particular time I had my iPad and my nook in the same incase case.

Yes, I did get the camera connection kit. It arrived weeks ago and has been patiently waiting in a drawer for the iPad to arrive.

Can I piggyback on this thread.........ok, great........what is anyone using for a case on the 2, do you feel the smart cover is enough? Also, has anyone found a good headrest mount for the car?

I did not get the original iPad cover as it didn't cover the back of the iPad, only the front. Instead, I got a case for it from amazon.com. Not only did it cover both the front and back, but it was also about $10 less!

I have the smart cover on my 2 and I do like it. I had the back of the ipad covered at a stand in my mall with the clear protective cover such as you would normally put on the screen of your phone, ipod, etc. The plastic is thick clear plastic and you do not know it is there unless you point it out, it seems to be protecting it quite well. I did not cover the screen because I always close the smart cover (or have it on).

My boyfriend has the first ipad and we bought the "official" cover for that too as it did cover the back, although the small square on the back that is used to insert the front cover to prop it up somehow caused the back of the ipad to have a 'dent' in it. Does not seem to affect it at all, just something I noticed.

I bought the camera kit for my iPod classic *way* back when, and it was a piece of garbage. This thing, however, works like a charm!

I was wondering about this as well. DF let me have his iPad since he didn't like the feel of it (omg I love it!!!), so it's perfect for traveling (which I do more then him). I have it in a case that he got that folds so it can stand on it's side.
