My daughter (18) is a big Coach fan. I am thinking of surprising her for Christmas with a new bag.

I am looking (on e-bay) at a Madison OP Art Sabrina. It is purple. Sarah's high school colors and purple and white and of course LSU is purple.

Has anyone seen this bag in person? Is it more of an LSU purple or how much lighter in color is it? It is hard to judge in a photograph.

Thanks,

Penny

I have not seen that particular bag but is it Lavender? I have an all leather one that is lavender and has a more pinkish hue to it. It is very pale.

Do you have any outlet stores around by you?
My dd just bought one that was marked at $450, on Sale for $245 and she got another 50% off, so it came to $128.
We had to stand inline to just get in the door, this was the Kenosha outlets in Wisconsin.
My dd' got the off/white purse, and it has a lavender/little scarf that is in the front of the purse.
I saw dark/purple purses near the front of the store. The store separates the purses by color and right now all the winter colors are outThe purple is a very dark, deep purple.

Sadly, we don't even have an outlet in Louisiana. Hearing all the great deals people get makes me wish we did.

I'm hoping this bag is dark. There are several listed on e-bay for the same bag and the color varies from photo to photo even though it is the same bag number and name. I think it is just the difference is cameras and lighting. It isn't lavender, defiantly darker than that. Either a mid or darker purple which is what I need. We just call it LSU purple around here, the darker shade that is popular this fall.

I just have to make up my mind to take a chance I guess. I'll bet she won't turn down a new Coach in any color. :rotfl:

The lister has a good rating.

Thanks,

Penny

Ok so then it's not the one I saw on ebay because it's listed as lavender. Looking at that one(go to ebay type the name of the one you are looking at. If it's the Coach Lavender- it is light. Pastely. I like it. But it definately does have a pinkish tone to it(purple is a stretch)

But I agree with you she'll love it regardless!

Oh....wow....I'm so out of it it's embarassing.....

I saw your thread title and thought it must be either...

1) a question about little league sports

or

2) a question about that old show "Coach" with Craig T. Nelson on it

:rotfl:

Now I'm seriously sitting her laughing out loud at my own hopelessness.

Lucyanna - just wondering if you have to worry about fakes on ebay and how you can ensure it is a 'real' coach?? Just curious....

Nope, defiantly not lavender. There are several of this bag listed. Some say purple, some say amethyst. It's a really cute bag. I don't think we are allowed to give a link to e-bay or I would show it to you.

:lmao: Thank goodness I'm not the only one who sometimes misunderstands a thread title. I've done the same thing as you.

To be honest with you, this would be the first time I have ordered a Coach bag off e-bay. I'm a little worried but I have looked at the sellers reviews and they seem to be really good.

Surely if she were selling fakes someone would have outed her, at least I hope so.

Thanks,

Penny

If it's the same bag I saw in the store, it's the purple you are looking for. They had one that I wanted really bad, but didn't get and I believe it's the one you are looking at. :thumbsup2
If you can, see if the seller has a picture of the inside tag with the serial number on it. That can ensure it's a real Coach bag. Though, like you said if they were selling fakes, someone surely would have outed them by now. Most of the sellers on Ebay have a disclaimer that states they guarantee all of their products to be real. Good luck!

I would be very leary of buying a Coach from ebay, 90% of them are fakes. If you are inclined to get this you should check out ebay's message board. There are women (and probbaly some men) that can help determine if this is a real Coach. You don't want to spend alot of money and end up with a cheap conterfeit.

Me too!

I know EXACTLY which bag it is and can tell you that it's deep, dark purple, but it's definitely AMYTHEST, not eggplant or anything like that.
I have the Madison Sabrina in brown leather, and I can tell you that it's a wonderful bag! The leather ages nicely, making it look vintage-y. It's absolutely HUGE (even though it doesn't look it) and I lose my keys in it all the time!
Before buying anything Coach on ebay, demand pictures from every angle-- of the tags, of the paper manufacturing tags, of the plate inside. However, I know there are wholesalers, and you can get a decent rate, so don't completely disregard ebay. Just be careful!

Reading this has made me decide that I am going to stop by my Coach outlet after dinner tonight to see if there are any good buys for Christmas presents!

I do have a good friend who buys her Coach bags on e-bay. She has several and as far as anyone can tell, they are real. They match up to catalogs on the Coach web site or to things we've seen in the outlets. She does check out the seller pretty well and makes sure they are not new, etc.

If it is a new Coach bag, I would be very cautious about it being fake. Even NWT. If they have good feedback that could just mean that people are happy enough with the fake, or don't know it's a fake when it arrives. Years ago I bought a Coach backpack NWT, good feedback, and when I got it-it was definitely a fake. The auction said guaranteed authentic and all that convincing stuff. I emailed them, and they agreed rather quickly and politely to refund my entire price including shipping. I gave them neutral feedback and noted in it that it wasn't authentic, but refunded promptly.

One thing I would watch for is stock photography and more than one auction by same person. I wouldn't buy anything new like this again, but especially if it wasn't a real photograph taken in someone's house. Close ups, etc. And you still have to know your brands pretty well.

I looked on ebay and the seller is from South Jersey, close to an outlet store. When i went to that outlet store, I saw women with 3 or 4 of the same bag at the checkout and I just knew those would end up on ebay. I looked up the bag I bought when I got home and it was selling on ebay for $100 more than I paid for it. If I lived near an outlet store, I think I would do that for extra cash,

You can also go to the Purse Forum, under the Coach shopping boards, and ask the ladies there to give their opinion on a bag's authenticity. Many of them are very, very knowledgeable.

I'm not sure this is true. From the Coach site:

Reporting Coach Counterfeits
Reporting Coach Counterfeits
Combating counterfeiting of Coach product is an important objective for Coach. The counterfeiters illegally profit at the expense of Coach and affect the entire economy through lost revenues and taxes. In addition, counterfeiters do not typically honor safety and environmental regulations, namely child labor and anti-sweatshop laws. Without a doubt, the high quality and workmanship embodied in genuine Coach product is not duplicated in the counterfeit product; counterfeit quality is typically poor.

Coach DOES NOT offer its merchandise for sale through individuals, street vendors, unauthorized retail locations, internet auctions, or at house parties. The ONLY avenues in which Coach offers its merchandise for sale is via: 1) Coach Stores; 2) Coach Factory Stores; 3) Direct Coach Catalog Sales; 4) Authorized Department Stores; 5) authorized specialty stores; 6) limited duty free locations; 7) corporate accounts; and 8) our website, www.coach.com. If you purchase a Coach item from an unauthorized source, such as an internet auction, Coach is not required to offer a determination regarding the item's authenticity. Also, Coach will not provide specific tips on how to determine if an item is counterfeit. As you can understand, counterfeiters could use this information to the detriment of Coach. The only way to guarantee the authenticity of a Coach item is to purchase it via the avenues listed above.

You can also go to the Purse Forum, under the Coach shopping boards, and ask the ladies there to give their opinion on a bag's authenticity. Many of them are very, very knowledgeable.

The backpack I bought looked totally authentic in the picture. I have had Coach bags for years, but not this partiuclar style. When I opened the box and held it I knew it must be fake. A little closer examination convinced me. I really don't think you can prove it's authentic by any means other than holding it in your hands-certainly not by a picture on the internet. This also goes for folks that claim they can spot a fake a mile away. I don't think that's true either, you have to be able to look inside and touch the leather (Well, plastic) of some of the fakes-they are that good.

I put much more faith in a designer bag on ebay that is used rather than new.

An outlet tip! Be aware that there are bags made just for the outlets. As well as some regular store overstocks. When you go in ASK which is which. (they will tell you)
The better bags are the Retail store overstocks- better being better made quality- But the made for outlet store ones can be cute- just not as tightly stitched. Know what you are spending your $$ on.
