A question for all the Coach experts

I just called the outlet in Orlando and they do indeed sell this bag in this color. I'm thinking that maybe the best thing to do will be to order from there even though it will cost a little more especially by the time I add shipping.

To be honest with you, this would be the first time I have ordered a Coach bag off e-bay. I'm a little worried but I have looked at the sellers reviews and they seem to be really good.

Surely if she were selling fakes someone would have outed her, at least I hope so.

Thanks,

Penny

Don't just go by that, for heaven's sake! Post the auction on the Community section, Handbags and Accessories Messages Boards at eBay. The gals there will let you know if it is a fake or not.

I think that's a good plan! :thumbsup2

I knew that the Outlet stuff was different than the regular stores, but I actually like their stuff better. :)

I'm not sure this is true. From the Coach site:

Reporting Coach Counterfeits
Reporting Coach Counterfeits
Combating counterfeiting of Coach product is an important objective for Coach. The counterfeiters illegally profit at the expense of Coach and affect the entire economy through lost revenues and taxes. In addition, counterfeiters do not typically honor safety and environmental regulations, namely child labor and anti-sweatshop laws. Without a doubt, the high quality and workmanship embodied in genuine Coach product is not duplicated in the counterfeit product; counterfeit quality is typically poor.

Coach DOES NOT offer its merchandise for sale through individuals, street vendors, unauthorized retail locations, internet auctions, or at house parties. The ONLY avenues in which Coach offers its merchandise for sale is via: 1) Coach Stores; 2) Coach Factory Stores; 3) Direct Coach Catalog Sales; 4) Authorized Department Stores; 5) authorized specialty stores; 6) limited duty free locations; 7) corporate accounts; and 8) our website, www.coach.com. If you purchase a Coach item from an unauthorized source, such as an internet auction, Coach is not required to offer a determination regarding the item's authenticity. Also, Coach will not provide specific tips on how to determine if an item is counterfeit. As you can understand, counterfeiters could use this information to the detriment of Coach. The only way to guarantee the authenticity of a Coach item is to purchase it via the avenues listed above.

Thanks for jumping down my throat, but I guess I wasn't clear with using "wholesalers." I more meant people who buy outlet merch and RE-SALE. Sorry, I should have specified.
E-bay has come a long, long way in offering authentic pieces. If you ask for the pictures that I said, OP, I think you still can get a real bag!

I agree! Just to be on the safe side, order it from there. :thumbsup2

I like the Outlet stuff better too! I do occasionally buy from the Coach website, but not very often. I'm a bargain shopper, I like the cheaper prices!

Ebay has also come a long way in enforcing their rules about no fakes. If something is reported as fake Ebay will pull the listing and I'm sure they don't let sellers like that stick around.

Years ago I bought a "Coach" bag on Ebay that was fake. Recently I have bought several that are definitely real.

With the great deals available at the Coach outlet stores many sellers buy in bulk just to re-sell on Ebay for a profit.

A lot of sellers on Ebay even include a copy of the gift receipt with purchase.

Like a PP said, if you have questions about authenticity the Purse Forum's Coach area is a great resource. They have a specific thread where you can post items to be authenticated. Most of the ladies at the Purse Forum sell and shop on Ebay regularly. It really is a safe place to shop these days.

Also if you do end up with a fake you can file a Paypal claim and return the bag and get your money back.

If you call a Coach Outlet store I bet they will ship it to you. Google Tangers Outlets. I would call on a weekday not the weekend.

Do you have any outlet stores around by you?
My dd just bought one that was marked at $450, on Sale for $245 and she got another 50% off, so it came to $128.
We had to stand inline to just get in the door, this was the Kenosha outlets in Wisconsin.
My dd' got the off/white purse, and it has a lavender/little scarf that is in the front of the purse.
I saw dark/purple purses near the front of the store. The store separates the purses by color and right now all the winter colors are outThe purple is a very dark, deep purple.

I have one about 30 minutes away. I shop them all the time. My summer one was buttercream leather with purple fabric inside. I got it for $99 vs the list 0f $425. My DH got me one for Christmas last year that had been $525 and got it and the wallet for $125. We go about every 3 months to check them out. I love the purple. I even have purple reading glasses to match

Ok, lots of outlets won't do what they call a charge send. You might get lucky but odds are probably not. That's where you call and charge the bag and they ship it out to you. It never hurts to check but don't get upset if they won't do it.

Buying on e-bay can be done safely, you just have to know what you are looking for. I bought a completely authentic purse off of e-bay after having it authenticated at the Purse Forum. Their members know what they are talking about. Seriously, check it out.

A very easy way to figure out if a bag at the outlet is a "factory" (outlet) bag or a full priced bag is to look at the creed. The factory bags ALWAYS have an F listed in the serial number. Always. Full price bags do not.

Good luck finding one.
