A question for Alamo users...

Having only used National's Emerald Aisle for many years, I found the Alamo rate much lower for next week. What is the best procedure to avoid the Alamo desks and proceed directly to the lot? Is it really as easy as National's? Thanks for any help.

Your can check in online before you leave home and go directly to cars at the airport, just show paperwork at booth when leaving

Sign up for Quick Silver. You still will not avoid the desk entirely, but you can check in at the desk in the garage as opposed to the one in the airport, which will make things much quicker.

There still is no substitute for EA. Even though they are sister companies, EA is far superior to QS.

Whoops... guess I should have done that!

Went to their site and saw the "check-in" now section. When I complete this, I assume it will not be necessary to even stop at the booth in the garage?
This makes it seem as easy as National. Thanks for the input. Caroline

Has anyone had experience checking in on-line? Where do you show your paperwork? Is someone directing you to where your class of cars are?

Thanks.

Online Check-In Instructions:

When you arrive at the airport follow the signs for Car Rentals and bypass the rental counter.
Proceed directly to the Alamo Car Rental pick-up area on airport.
Upon arriving at the Alamo Car Rental pick-up area you will find that the lot will be laid out by car class, which is designated by posted signs.
Find the car class section for the car you have reserved, choose the car of your choice within that section and proceed to the exit booth.
Please present the credit card you used online and your drivers license to the attendant so that your transaction can be processed.

That is from the Alamo site. I'll be doing it in about 26 hours :woohoo:

Update - when i attempted to "check-in" online, it said my reservation was not eligible. Seems if you have a coupon, you can not do this. So, I completed the "update" info - will this mean I have to access the counter in the airport? Or, can I go directly to the counter in the garage? Thanks for any help once again.

The interesting thing about businesses is that depending on whom you speak with, you can have a number of responses. This gentleman i just spoke with told me, if i enter my CC# in my profile, then i can go directly to the desk at the garage, bypassing the counter in the airport. Please tell me this is true!!!

Yes, it is true. But the desk at the garage is also a counter, so you don't truly skip the counter like you would with National's EA.

Usually there are less people at the counter in the garage than there are inside the airport. So checking in at the garage should still save you time.

Thanks for your response...the counter is the garage is more preferable. :thumbsup2

I did it tonight (by passed all the counters) walked to cars (all clearly marked by class) picked our car ..........PT cruiser convertible :drive:, drove out and gave the attendant our online check out print out DL & CC. From stepping foot in the garage to pulling out took less than 5 to 7 minutes :thumbsup2 .
