Elliot won't take the Tylenol w/ codeine anymore. It is in syrup form and he will now just spit it directly out and gets none of it. I am considering giving him regular baby Tylenol just to get some sort of pain killer in his system. He doesn't seem to act like he is in much pain anyway! He just woke up after a full night's sleep and his dose from last night has definitely worn off. He started running around & tried to do his usual dive bomb off the end of the couch and only acts in slight discomfort when bending over or standing up. I'm thinking regular Tylenol may be enough since he is refusing the Tylenol 3.

I'm waiting for the doctor's MA to call me back at the moment.

PS - The doctor said they make the stitches 2 year old proof....I think my 2 year old may just put them to the test! ;)

If the reg. Tylenol is working, then go for it. No reason to give a kid a narcotic if they don't need it. We have always done much better with ibuproprhen than tylenol. Works longer and better, IMO. Lots of folks alternate due to liver concerns. Best thoughts!

If he's not in pain or listless I wouldn't give him anything. If he does seem in pain but playing etc. try the regular tylenol. DD likes a drop of chocolate syrup in any medicine so I indulge her. You might try it if he still won't take the regular stuff but you think he needs it.

I personally have always had trouble with tylenol w/codeine. I makes me feel sick to my stomach, drizzy and spacy (more than normal ;) ).

Hope your little guy is all better soon.

He had surgery Snoops! :( He had an inguinal (the hole where one of his testciles moved through didn't seal when it should have) hernia and they fixed it yesterday. Today, he really is back to his normal self mostly. You can tell he has a little pain in that area though. Yesterday was a horrible day. It was a pretty routine surgery and it still scared the heck out of me. He is enjoying some Bob the Builder fruit snacks watching Stanley at the moment though so we got through it just fine. ;)

Awwwww, poor Boo! :( I'm so glad today is better for him.

I agree with CEDMom, most people get nauseous from codeine, that is what is bothering him. I'd try just the tylenol and see how he does with that.
