A question about the May Press Event

I know there's a huge Press Event scheduled at WDW for May 4,5,6th for the beginning of the 100 Years Celebration. Apparently MGM will be closed for all or part of May 4th for a special Press party etc--and some lucky DISers have won tickets to this. Does anyone know what is happening on Thursday May 5th and Friday May 6th? Are they closing MK on the 5th--or EPCOT? Or is the only day a park will be closed May 4th? Hopefully someone here who has Press connections will know how this works. Thanks muchly for any info you have.

The press events are for the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" which celebrates Disneyland's 50th anniversary. Most press events are scheduled for May 4, and the celebration kicks-off on May 5. The 100 years celebration ended a couple of years ago.

Epcot is closing at 3 PM on May 5th.

May 6th is the grand openning of Lucky at AK. I have not heard about anything more than that on May 6th. We plan to be there.

MK will be open throughout the Press Event, although Main Street will be closed up until about 2pm on May 5. Epcot closes early on May 5, for a party that night; MGM closes early on May 4, for a party that night.

None of the WDW parks is closed all day on any day during the event.

if main street is closed until 2 how are people getting anywhere??? through the stores on the right side or they shoving people on the train??? can i still get to guest relations that morning to get my birthday pin and the barber shop to get my hair pixie dusted??? if i can do that i will hit the train after i do those 2 things i promise

Guests will be directed through the stores and, if crowds warrant, will be taken backstage and around (the same way that they exit during the holidays when it's really crowded). Guest Relations is not on Main Street, it's in Town Square, so getting there should not be a problem at all. You may want to have someone at your resort call the Barbershop to be sure it will be operating that morning. If it is, you'll get to it via whatever route is open for guests.

I didn't know about the Main Street being closed til 2pm... Good thing I still have to redo my itinerary.
