A question about PS's

My girlfriend and I are taking our first trip to the DIS(7/5/03) and we cannot wait to go. I was curious as to how exactly the whole idea of the PS works. I got scared because I was reading somewhere that you needed to make reservations exactly 180 day in advance or else you'd be outta luck. I just wanted to know if it is like a reservation? Do I have to call days in advance to reserve a table? We are staying at the CBR if that makes a difference. Thanks for all your help in advance.

So, you are leaving tomorrow????? And, you have no PS's????

If that is the case and you have an outline of where you are going to be and when AND where you think you might like to eat, I would call and try to line up a few places. Otherwise, if you want to eat at full service restaurants, I would try to eat at off hours (i.e., early or late, lunch or dinner). Also, while you are at WDW call and check on PS's in the morning if you decide where you want to eat.

Hope you have a great trip!!

I have never had a problem getting a PS with just a few day's notice. It just means being a bit flexible. The hardest reservations which require calling are
  • Cinderella's Royal Table Character breakfast at MK
  • Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway at Epcot
  • Hoop Dee Doo Revue
  • Polynesian Luau.
  • Victoria & Albert's at the Grand Floridian
  • Saturday dinner reservations because many Florida locals are eating out.

Since you are two adults you really shouldn't have a problem getting a table. If you are a family of 5 who wanted to eat dinner at 6:30PM without a reservation you may run into more problems. I would make a list of restaurants you would like to try and plan them into your vacation. You will have pretty good luck even calling on the day of your trip. Don't sweat it.

Our family of 3 usually doesn't have a huge problem getting sitdown without a PS. Be flexible though. You won't most likely get a table for lunch right at noon--- rather try 11:00/11:15 ish. You still have time to try and call and see what you can snag for sure. Like the other poster's said, with a party of 2, you're in better shape.

Also remember that a priority seating is Disney-speak for a reservation. Unlike other restaurants in which a reservation guarantees you will be seated at a specific time frame, a Disney PS only means you will be seated within a certain time frame before walk-in customers. In other words, a 7:30 PS does not mean you will be seated at 7:30.

And, you can make PS from your room at WDW or at any resort's or park's guest services. Each restaurant has a podium where you can make a PS for a later date or time just by walking up and asking.

And, have fun! Eating at Disney is an experience in and of itself! :teeth:
