A Question about OKW

I am staying at DVC 2 nights prior to a DCL cruise. I would like to try staying at OKW as we have yet to stay there. I do have enough points for a one bedroom. Would it be a waste of points for just 2 nights? I don't care for the studio configuration. Not planning on any parks that stay. Any comments appreciated. :)

Go for it! You'll find the 1BR to be a delight - especially when you get into your cruise stateroom. :teeth:

If you can do the 1 bedroom, I say go for it. You will be in close quarters on the cruise so why not have a little more room a few nights before!

I love OKW studios. They are different than other studios.

The 1 beds there are wonderful. Extremely roomy, the living room is huge. Depending on how many people are traveling, bear in mind, 1 bed layouts are a bit different near Hospitality House than other 1 beds, say near Turtle Pond and SouthPointe. The bath area has only 1 door going into it in HH area vs. 2 doors in some other areas. Only difference is it provides a little more privacy with 2 doors for all parties. If being near the front of OKW matters more, then ask for HH preference. No addtl. pts. just puts you near Olivias, boat to DTD, etc. Also, 2 balconies on the 1 beds.

Here is a layout of OKW in case the bath layout matters. Bldgs. 30 and up have the extra door to bath.

I say go for it with the OKW 1 bed. OKW runs a really close 2nd(along with BWV)to our love of VWL, and being a VWL groupie, you know how deep that love is:cloud9: I get the feeling you will become an instant OKW lover if you do.:thumbsup2

I love the 1 bedroom at OKW, but if it's prior to a cruise, I always choose a studio. With such a short trip, will you get any use out of the kitchen? And same for the laundry. Getting the 1 bedroom prior to a cruise always feels like a waste of points to us if we don't use it to it's potential. However, when we return from a cruise a 1 bedroom or larger is a must--we need that laundry and just more room to relax.

I would also suggest getting the studio and saving some points. We just stayed in a 2BR with MIL and FIL (me, DH and our 3 kids). MIL insisted DH and I stay in the 2nd BR (the studio part) with our 2 DDs...so they'd have a real bed instead of the sleeper sofa. It was not bad at all...being in the studio part with our 2DDs(almost 13). I love the studio layout...plenty spacious. I recommend you request the top floor...we were bottom and could hear all kinds of noise above us and have read on the Dis that others are complaining about that too (since they put in hard wood floors, it seems to have taken away some of the sound absorption).

Even for 2 people, we always stay in the 1 bedrooms. LOVE the OKW 1 bedrooms, and being the low point cost at OKW, why not give it a try?

Good points. We have always wanted to try the one bedrooms. I thought these two days prior to the cruise would give us that opportunity. This would also be a fact finding opportunity as I am planning a big family trip and wondered if OKW would be a better fit for that future trip.

Just the two of us cruising. We usually stay in studios. No we won't use the kitchen or laundry room. BUT we really want to try the one bedroom. We will be using the DCL Bus so I am thinking HH location would be better to pick up that bus. Do any HH units face the golf course?

Yes, all HH buildings have at least some views of the golf course. Maybe 11 doesn't, but I'm not sure.

My fav thing about DVC (we own OKW, HH & Vero) are the porches of the one bedroom units at OKW and HH! Relax!

BWV Dreamin, another DCL cruise? Are you hoping 3rd time is the charm?;)

I'd go with the 1br if it was just DH and I, he likes to get up early and go workout, then eat breakfast. So he can do that without waking me up.

I guess you heard about my last cruise....:sad2: Just one of them has to be uneventfull!!

Does OKW have a fitness center?

My family of 4 - DW, myself, DS (7) and DD (9) were fine for a week in the OKW studio. We spent a lot of time in the parks so the lack of space wasnt a concern as we just slept in the room.

Granted, the OKW 1BRs are asolutely huge! We love them. Although I think AKV - Kidani just surpassed OKW as our family's favorite resort.

I think you'll be fine either way.
