A Question about meeting other "DIS-ers" on the ship

SOOOOOO, our cruise is quickly approaching, and I'm very excited :cool1:

We're trying to organize a "meet and greet" with some of the other DIS-ers that are going on the same cruise (yes, we've all been chatting on the CRUISE MEETS board)

I'd love to hear some suggestions of a good time/place to meet up. Fun things that y'all did. How previous "meet and greets" have gone for some of you veterans.

Anyone?

I'm a big fan of the Promenade Lounge. It's centrally located, large, has a bar, and is easy to find! :)

It seems that groups plan meets at all different times. I'm fond of having them on the first afternoon, generally prior to the Sailaway Celebration, so that everyone gets to meet right off.

Well we always set up a "Dis" meet at sailaway. We all gather on the port side of deck 10. It has the best (above) view of the characters, crew etc. Then later on in the week, we have always hosted a "Dis" party in our stateroom. We usually make it into a "wine tasting"...we have everyone bring a wine from their home state. People seem to have a good time :cool1:

Here's a link to our last Octobers cruise:

Hope that helps :goodvibes

We had a very successful meet on the 12/18 10 day. Here is what we did.

Everyone met at 3pm up on deck 10 mid-ship on the same side as the dock.

3pm works well because by that time everyone is onboard, has eaten lunch, made there reservations and stopped by their room.

Deck 10 works because it is quiet up there, you can enjoy the view, and if your kids want to swim the goofy pool is right below it.

This gave us a good 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to chat and meet each other. Then after the drill just about eveyone met back in the same place for sailaway.

We've had meets at sailaway before and it is hard to get to know people for the first time during the party.

Good luck planning your meeting. Sailing with other DIS'ers is the best!

I agree with RonnieJo....our last two sailings were deck 10 port.....right by the portable smoothie bar. It's a good place to place faces with names. You can see the party hear the music and yet still chat if you want........

Another idea that worked great for our Thanksgiving cruise was to have nightly "meets" at Diversions at 10:30 or so. We would catch up on events of the day, or head to the 60's or 70's or 80's parties in the dance lounge. Some nights would be lots of DIS'ers show up, and some nights only die hards, like me and Lampskies!

Sounds like fun! Let's plan on doing that this upcoming Thanksgiving cruise too! :earsgirl:

I second the Promenade Lounge. Our group met on the Secret Deck 7 Aft for wine an hour before the Sail Away Party. It was great meeting everyone but it was about 105 degrees in the sun (we look like a bunch of lobsters in the pictures, LOL). :sunny: The time worked out well. WMiller I like your idea.
