A question about dresses and Illuminations Party

I read that you can't wear your wedding dress during the Illuminations Dessert Party but I've seen photos wear brides are wearing their dresses. Can someone please explain the policy?

If you enter from backstage (IE not the main gate) you can wear your dress. But if you opt to use your tickets and come throught the main gate, it is not allowed. So if you want to wear your dress, plan on paying $600 for bus and $90 for the host. (pirces are approx.)

If you don't provide private transportation for your guests (i.e. a charter bus) then no, you can not wear your wedding dress.

However, if you pay the $590 for the charter bus, then you may wear your dress for the dessert party.

Good luck!!

I am thinking of getting a white cocktail dress with maybe a blue sash around the stomach (color of my wedding) That way I'm still a white bride but not pay the $$$ for the transportation

Thanks everyone for your quick responses!! That charter bus price does seem a bit steep but I'm glad this is at least an option. Thank you Thank you

This is the info my EP sent me when I asked her about this. Straight from the horses mouth 1 month ago, I don't know if anything will change for 2007.

"There is a minimum of 20 guests for Morocco Terrace and a minimum to 6 guests and a max of 10 guests for Japan Terrace.

Morocco Terrace has a venue rental of $200.00.
Japan Terrace has a venue rental of $175.00

We can also take a look at the United Kingdom Upper Terrace if it is available as well.

There is a $12.50 Illuminations viewing fee per person.
If you plan on wearing your wedding attire, you must come from by motor coach and be dropped off backstage. A motor coach is $82.50 per hour for a minimum of 5 hours."

She also sent me sample menus. PM me with your email address if you would like me to forward them.

Hope this helps!

I am doing my reception outdoors at EPCOT instead of doing a reception and an Illuminations party. We will be there for Illuminations and will pay the viewing fee, but this way it's all one big event. We do have to use the disney transportation still for me to wear my dress.

One other thing to mention - if you're having a small group come to the party, you can hire a limo to drive you instead of the motor coach. It's a little cheaper and with a shorter min than the bus. Also, my EM did say that we could just use the limo and the guests could come in via the front gate because they wouldn't stand out as much as a bride and groom.

As with everything Disney, you've got tons of options, just depends on how much $$ you want to spend.

Good Luck!

I was up at EPCOT this weekend and I can't wait to have a dessert party now! The view is great!!!

Just for further clarification, could you have the bus for 2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the evening for a total of 5 hours?

I would be cautious with this - Disney policy is no wedding attire in the parks (other than for a DFTW event). While I don't know the likely hood that you would get stopped at the gate is, you should try to refrain from looking to bride like, as there would be a good chance they wouldn't let you into the park.

Last I knew, the 5 hour minimum had to be used consecutively. Some brides have been able to get one way charter buses for their ceremony.

I think that you can use a limo to go to the backstage entrance. I would speak to your EM and say you want to wear your fdress in the park but are not sure if you can afford the extra $ for the coach and see what they say.
