Okay I had a bad experience with a travel agent back in November 2013, So fast forward to now, I decided I was going to book with a different travel agent (which I have not yet) for May 2015 and already it has been several days since I emailed them and they have not emailed me back. Is this the norm? :confused3

We have used Stacy at Dreams Unlimited Travel and she always gets back to us within the same day (we live in different time zones, so I have to give her some leeway). But she is very prompt with her replies, whenever she was going to be out of town or possibly out of touch she would send us a heads up email.

If you are uncomfortable with a travel agent, you can easily book it yourself too. I like giving Stacy my business and supporting their company (and it is nice to have someone to answer a few questions here and there and help set up ADRs), but if I wasn't getting good service I would do it myself.

Good luck, I hope they reply soon!

I see them post on facebook all the time so I know they are on and well, and not on vacation. Because when they are its always on facebook. I think I am just going to book myself and then come on here if I have any questions.

I am a travel agent for Disney and I will tell you that I get back to my clients within 24 hours. If I am away, I make it known to ALL of my clients beforehand and still check (unless I'm on a cruise) my email daily anyway!

I've also heard some fab reviews about Dreams Unlimited Travel.

It might be worth sending them a quick email and just enquiring? There is nothing worse that using a rubbish travel agent!

Our travel agent (a magic creator through AAA) always got back to me within 24 hours. I never tried contacting her (never needed to) while she was on vacation but I know I contacted her while we were in Disney and she got back to us very quickly. She gave us her personal cell # in case we had questions

I'm a travel agent and I have made it a personal requirement to get back to clients in 12 hours or less. I also give my clients my cell phone number so that they can call and text me to even faster response time.

What is the advantage of booking through a travel agent? I requested a quote from an agent (not one previously mentioned) and was given the exact same price as the WDW website was showing. I would be open to using one but I'm not sure why I would.

So I've used them and I've done my own... I think a TA is incredibly useful when you are new to WDW. Its great to have someone that will give you good advice not just try to upsell you. Also, they make your dining & special events reservations for you - which is awesome. They also notify you if there are promos that are released that benefit you.

Honestly, its not hugely beneficial if you are someone that goes regularly (which I do). That being said, no one in my family helps with the planning so I just like having some one to help me make decisions.

I'm fairly confident in my WDW knowledge, or the ability to find the info I want.

But it's so nice having someone to bounce ideas off.

And someone else on the lookout for deals.

And someone to book those deals. One day last spring I checked my email from my 3rd period study hall. Tracey had applied the just released Disney Visa discount and saved us just Over $1000. Doing so meant moving us from the BC to the YC since the BC had no garden view rooms discounted. All while I was at work. Who knows what would have been available by the time I had time to call, then time to wait on hold and wait for a CM?

And someone to book ADRs. They're called in at 7 am, just as I'm leaving for school. 180 days before my vacation, I checked my email 3rd period to find that we had gotten all the ADRs I had requested...for between 5 and 11 people. BOG, the Brown Derby, the dessert party..all totally stress free. I put in my requests and checked my email...easy easy.

And all at no cost to me.

And, as an aside, someone else earns a commission from my vacation..that can't be BAD Karma. Someone else benefits from a decision that makes my life easier.

Thanks everyone for the input. I really appreciate it. I can definitely there being a benefit of using a TA but I think I may be too controlling to let anyone else plan those things for me :)
