A PRIVATE one with the girls!!.........

Hmmm, since I am Canadian, I'd have to convert it first to American :p You can get a really nice bra for about $25 and about $10 for panties (that's Canadian dollars and not on sale).

You know.....that is cheaper than in the UK. Would the material be silky or just cotton. I prefer silky. What about nighties....in silky....how much and dressing gowns?

Something else too: In England lazer hair removal is really starting to take off but it is really really expensive. To permanently remove the hair from your legs apparently would take 8 sessions- the cost would be in the region of £3,000. Do you know anything about how much it costs where you are? and have you tried it? or do you know anyone who has? None of my friends have had a go yet, but when I sell the house next year I was thinking of having it done..........now, if it was cheaper in Florida...I could have half the sessions while over there!!........IOA in the morning and "legs" in the afternoon!!!!:) :)

Check out www.lasenza.com and that should give you a good idea of price comparison. They have three sites: U.S., U.K. and Canada.

Laser hair removal? Don't know anyone who's tried it yet. I have seen it advertised quite a bit. I'm sure you could find several places in Orlando to have it done.

Thanks for the website Damo.....we have La Senza in England....managed to find a silky black bra and chemise set on the website....quite expensive £22 for the bra etc.......loads of pink again!!!........even on your one in the States..........I have a draw full of pink silky.........!!!

So do I!!......On to something else I have always wondered......how do you rate Zuma Beach Club, Barbarella's, the Club Volcano...live rock bands....all those clubs on "Orange Avenue"??

Selina,

unfortunatly, Zuma Beach is closed now:( I think volcano is too.

Barbarella's is mostly alternative, rock and some techno music

Ciaro is not too bad it has a good mix, Dance in the main room, retro music on the second floor, regae on the rooftop.

Icon and Taboo (replaced Zuma Beach) are a more "upscale" but not too bad, they play techno, trance, and dance and the drinks are a little more expensive.

Chiller's on Church St. and One eyed Jack's are more laid back, mostly a good place to hang out, meet up before going to the other clubs, or just having a few beers.

Have a Nice Day cafe is ok as well if you like disco and 70's, they also have a new room they added that plays other types of music but I haven't been in since they added it.

I haven't been in a few months and can't think of any others right now.

Hope that helps.

(sorry about posting on the girls topic, but I figured if Spidey can then why not, and I was at least trying to be helpful, to make up for my guilt from lurking;) )

Darwineffect..............thanks, it's nice to know about the "alternative" club scene!....you are forgiven for "lurking"...I do it all the time on the "boys" thread....Spidey/Barry's drooling over girls one!!!
I have heard of Chillers and one-eyed Jacks...they sound cool places to meet. Have you ever visited Tanquerary's Bar and Grille - not much to read about this one - says "live"music on Friday and Saturday. Kate O'Brien's Irish Pub sounds a good place to go too - have you been there? Unfortunately, I may not be able to stay on site, and have been given a website for villas that are not too far away from this area. Generally speaking, is it a safe ish place to walk around with friends or not? Any info on eating places would be good too!!:smooth:

You may want to try this place once you get to orlando........

Avant-Guard II Dress & Lingerie Boutique
3985 South Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32839
(407) 843-1233

They have some very nice things.

Selina,

Downtown is pretty safe especially on the weekends they have ordinances (sp?) against panhandling and stuff. Just like any city as long as you stay in the main streets with the rest of the people you should be o.k. Don't go by yourself, take some friends and it will be fine. I have never been to Tanquerary's Bar and Grille and it has been a while since I went to Kate O'Brien's Irish Pub but it wasn't too bad then. As for Avant-Garde II and some of the other lingerie/adult stores in town, again be careful about the areas, some of these are in "not so good" locations, but not horrible. Sorry, but I guess the "big brother" sense of protection is coming out again, just use common sense, they do have a good selection of things if you do make it there. Let me know if you have any other questions, or PM me, I am a local so I have a good general idea about stuff in the area. Later.

Wendy.....thanks for that.......I have been looking at quite a few websites and most lingerie is cheaper than in the UK. Thanks for the address.:D

Darwineffect.......it's nice to know someone in the know of things "outside" the parks! If you couldn't stay at an on-site hotel at Universal/IOA - apart from villas, where would you recommend that's near to some good "night life". We have stayed on International Drive at the Quality inn opposite the crazy golf, Embassy Suites just past there too and in that part there are lots of good eating places, Mercado's, but would like to go somewhere different. Last time stayed at the HRH.....and it was great - absolutely loved it and the atmosphere in the complex. Financially....if I want to be back for next year or early part of the year after (going for minimum 14 nights!), then will have to forego HRH this time.

a minimum of 14 nights?!?!? Oh Lordy, I'd be in Heaven!!! :) :) Selina - make sure you watch the Ghostbusters Show every one of those days!!! hehe

My longest trip is coming up, for my birthday...a whopping 4 days!! no, not even 4 nights...4 DAYS...shucks :)

Selina,

most of the stuff on International drive is o.k., it is pretty convenient for food, and shopping, and close enough to the parks. There is also a limited amount of "night life' at Point Orlando off of I-Drive, I haven't ever been to any of the clubs there, but I think there are either two or three of them. As far as recommendations, what area do you want to stay in? Do you want to be closer to the parks or downtown, or what? What are you interested in on your trip? PM me and I can give you specifics if I know them.

Fly fly......I will certainly do a few shows with you and maybe meet orange guy no. 2!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Darwineffect........Ideally I would like to be "walking" distance to Universal..........but chances are I won't be able to unless I stay at the Radisson - which is still costing an arm and a leg!! (english expression for "lots of £'s!!) So I started looking at "villas to rent", self catering. I have heard that Kissimmeee is nice - not sure how far that is from Universal, and what is about for the evening........restaurants, wine bars, Hard Rock Cafe type of places. Obviously, alot of evenings will be spent at City Walk, Universal etc., but sometimes will maybe feel tired and want to spend the evening near the villa.

Kissimee is much closer to Disney than Universal, I am not sure what if anything will be nearby for nightlife there. Anything on Kirman Rd. or International drive will be your best bets for proximity to Universal, price will be a factor though. Almost all hotels in the area provide transportation to the parks though.

Selina,

A few years ago I was traveling with my son who was 7 or 8 at the time. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Universal and were satisfied with it. You can request a suite with a fridge and microwave--I don't remember the rate, but I don't think I would have sprung for it if it was too pricey. The HI Universal is across the street from Universal. It is not far, but I did not think the trek would have been very pedestrian friendly (large busy street to cross, no sidewalks, little boy in tow). We took the hotel shuttle a few times but got aggravated with it so took cabs a few times too. Hope you are able to get a good deal and can get to UO sooner rather than later:sunny:

Darwineffect.....thanks for all the info, it does help alot. Well, it looks like as you say if I want to go next year it will be International Drive (where's Kirkman Road in relation to Universal, I also know the stretch between the Mercado and Pointe Orlando).

IMGONNABE40....Holiday Inn...now I've stayed in alot, some are okay, some are not very nice. According to my brochure it says the Holiday Inn - a mile from Universal has fridge and microwave in room so it must be the one and it rates it as 4 ticks - same as the Radisson and Embassy Suites - now 2 years ago we stayed at the Embassy Suites on International Drive and it was quite a nice hotel. In your opinion......is this holiday inn as nice? Obviously it won't compare to the HRH where we stayed last year., but what's drawing me to it is the price.....compared to HRH it's £800 per person cheaper!!!

Selina--

I cannot answer that question because I have not been to that Embassy Suites so I cannot compare. The HI Universal is clean, rooms adequatlely appointed for a HI, service--about what you would expect from a HI. There was some mix up with my reservation and the staff went out of their way to compensate for it with free meals in the TGI Fridays and reimbursement for a couple of nights stay. Truth be told, most of our time was spent at Universal and we did little more than sleep in our room. I had brought food with me, so we did breakfast in our room lunch at Universal and a couple of dinners (on the house) at Fridays. I do not remember going to the pool, although I am sure it was not anything along the lines of the onsite resort pools. I do think it was closer than a mile, however. Does the HI you are looking at advertise "the World's Largest TGI Friday's"? That is the one I am talking about. I did not care for the free shuttle because it stopped at several other hotels along the way and it seemed to take forever to get across the street. We waited a long time one evening for the shuttle to pick us up, so I ended up just calling a cab. That was only about $3 which was less than the parking would have been and worth not having to wait for the shuttle.

Hope this helps. Sorry It took so long to get back to you on this thread. I was a bit distracted on a few of the others :rotfl:

You really need to join us at the "Virtual Trip to Universal Studios" thread! Things are absolutely crazy in there because we can take the story any which way we want...so far the story has taken a few quite unexpected...or at least rather amusing, turns....:p

Feel free to jump into the story at any time!

FlyFly--

I have been following the virtual trip thread. That is one of the ones distracting me! I was being facetious on the other thread when I said good CLEAN fun--because I knew you were having nothing of the sort!
