Has this been discontinued at HHI? I was reading a post about the naturalist at HH and hoping for a replacement for him and some mention was made of Chef Gordon no longer doing A Private Affair. If anyone has any knowledge of this, please let me know. We were hoping to book this for our October trip to HH.

TIA

It seems APA is no more. We had it scheduled for our visit and a week or two before arrival, we received an email cancelling it.

We also were supposed to do our fourth annual APA this Tuesday, and Chef Gordon emailed me last week saying they are no longer doing APA. We hope he has some sort of food event next week that we can do.

I sincerely hope this is only temporary. I was going to e-mail him to see if he has a change of plan in late August so that we can do APA (he e-mailed me several months ago saying he will not be available). But now it seems that even if he is around, this may not be offered.

This was the highlight of our meals last year at HH!!!!

I received an email from Gordon today and A Private Affair has been discontinued at the resort. His responsibilities at HH have been expanded and he no longer has as much time to devote to the program. He said that his other duties at the resort made scheduling APA too difficult. In addition he has some other resonsibilities in the evening and also has some responsibilities away from the resort.

He will still be hosting other cooking programs, like "A Taste of Wine" and "Creative Beginnings" on a seasonal basis.

While he did not mention it, since the resort has no other qualified "chef" (no restaurant/no chef), IMO, it's not likely that a replacement chef for APA will be sought- especially for a program that serves so few people and is offered on such a limited basis. It was an elegant program (especially when it was offered in the GV, but also at the Beach House) and was a great evening and we will miss it.

As mentioned in the other APA thread, Gordon was very generous with his recipes. We have recipes for most of his offerings over the years and will try to dig some out and post them here.

Be sure to seek out Gordon and say "Hi" when at the resort. He is a great resource for both the resort and Hilton Head itself.
