Day 5 - November 10

MGM today. This was not an early entry day and I really saw the difference. It wasn’t anywhere near as full as MK and AK were on the EE days. We had to wait a little bit in line to have our bags searched. DH, DD13 and DD5 didn’t have any bags so they went on ahead to wait for us. We did some people watching while we were in line. Amazing. I couldn’t tell you how many people we saw try to sneak past the guard with bags in the “no bag” entrance...deliberately, too. Do you people think you are special? We have to wait in line, so do you! I even saw one guy deliberately turn his fanny pack around to his back so the guard wouldn’t see it. He got busted & had to go to the back of the line like everyone else. Ha! Serves you right! We headed over to ToT and RnR first. We went by DSis’s advice about watching how long it takes to get on the rides in the normal line vs. the return time for the Fastpass up until today. Like I said, I do not like waiting in line. I have to say, though, Disney lines move pretty darn fast. But, we were missing a lot of stuff by spending our time waiting in line, especially considering the parks close so early. So, my point was, let’s grab the fast pass, get something else done in between, then head back during our Fastpass Return time. I thought it worked well. So we grabbed FastPasses for RnR and headed over to the ToT. Now, DH is truly afraid of heights. He rides the middle of the road when he drives across a bridge. We dragged him on this ride...if DD5 was willing to try it, he had to. He actually liked it. DD5 wasn’t too sure at first, but towards the end of the night she asked to go back on it. She is a thrill-seeker like her mom and her sister when it comes to rides. The girls met Minnie Mouse, then we headed over to Voyage of the Little Mermaid to get FastPasses for DH and DD5. She wasn’t big enough for RnR and he didn’t want to do it since it goes upside down. We walked around a bit & went back over to RnR. The CM working the line over there was fantastic...I do not know what his name was, but he was great! He gave DDF and I passes to get back on the ride again b/c he saw our Birthday pins. They were good for 3 guests each pass, so after we got off DDF, DD13, DSis and I got right back in the FastPass line again. This is when he let us have it. He made everyone in there (a lot of people) sing Happy Birthday to us. The free passes came with a price. He asked how we were all related and then he asked my sister to tell everyone what my most embarrassing moment was. Of course I gave her the evil eye & like a good sister would do, she refused to comment. I love ya Sis. Although I’m sure she probably only did it b/c that would’ve meant my DD13 would’ve heard the story, which I’m sure would not be a good thing. DD13 refused to comment on DDF’s most embarrassing moment. Well, he proceeded to pick on DDF...she’s blonde, so that opens up for a lot of teasing. He asked her if she puts her M&M’s in alphabetical order. We had a blast. He was so funny. I wish all the CM’s were like him. He gave the passes back to us to ride for a third time, but we never got back there. The day before we left I gave my pass to a kid in the gift shop. I hope he enjoyed it.

We headed back over to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. DH and DD5 went on. I told him we’d wait by the entrance, but after they went in we decided to wait over by the exit so he didn’t have to walk all the way around. We waited and waited and waited. We saw everyone coming out except for DH and DD5, so we thought we lost them. We thought we missed them coming out of the exit, so I kept walking around trying to look for them. We all decided to go back to the entrance where I originally told him we’d be. We waited for what seemed like forever. DSis was panicking. We asked a CM for suggestions on how to find them...they had no walkie talkie or cell phone with them. The CM asked if I had the money...I said yes. She asked if I had the keys...I said no, he has them. Then I have a problem, she informed me. When I find them, I must get the keys from him so that I have the keys and the money & the rest is his problem if he gets lost again...she was funny. Then she informed us that his show hadn’t let out yet. Duuuhhh! We’re not lunatics. DH and DD5 came strolling out oblivious to any of the spectacle that had just gone on.

We went inside to play WWTBAM, very fun. On the way up the stairs something shiny caught my eye. I glanced down & it was a Mickey Mouse charm upside down. There were people behind me so I didn’t stop to pick it up. We watched the show, I forgot about the charm, and we left. When we got outside, DSis says to me “You’re not going to believe what I found now”. She had seen the charm on the way back down the stairs and picked it up. She handed it to me and it was the Mickey birthstone charm with the month August engraved on it. Unbelievable...here we go again with the magic...you guessed it, DD5’s birthstone.

We had PS for 50’s Prime Time Cafe, but we were all really hungry so we headed over there early. We didn’t have too long a wait until we were called in and seated. “Uncle Tommy” was our server. I had read a lot about this restaurant, but I didn’t let the rest of the family in on too much of it. Anyway, “Uncle Tommy” was great. Super nice guy. We all ordered our food and the meal went smoothly. Of course since we all (except DD5) got the chicken, we all had green beans, which no one ate. When Uncle Tommy came back over, DDF asked for dessert. He asked why she didn’t finish her veggies and she told him she didn’t like them. He said none of us could have dessert b/c we didn’t eat our green beans. DSis thought she’d be funny and scraped all of her green beans onto DDF’s plate. She told “Uncle Tommy” that her plate was clean, so she should be able to have dessert. She didn’t have a clue that it was coming...he made her stand up and sing “I’m a Little Teapot”. Now, let me tell you a little about my sister. She does NOT embarrass easily and she loves to embarrass other people, especially her little sister, that being me! She does not care what other people think...period. I have tried to embarrass her so many times over the years to get even with her, to no avail. Well, I never saw her face as red as it was at that moment. Thank you “Uncle Tommy“! You rock! That was great revenge & I didn’t even have to do it. Love ya, Sis. So, DDF tells “Uncle Tommy” that it wasn’t fair that my DSis scraped her veggies onto DDF’s plate and after all, she is celebrating her birthday. He agrees and tells her he’ll bring out a dessert just for her and she can’t share it with anyone. DDF is beaming! Well, out comes “Uncle Tommy” with a green bean sundae...green beans topped with whipped cream, a cherry, sprinkles and a candle! It was priceless. We ordered dessert and “Uncle Tommy” presented DDF and I with birthday cards signed by our “extended family” which we were thinking were the servers...how nice! Well, they were signed by all the other customers sitting in the restaurant...it was great. The food was good, although the portions weren’t that large, but the atmosphere was the best! I will definitely eat there again!

We watched a few shows and walked around. The rest of the day didn’t go too well. Somewhere along the way, different personalities were starting to clash. DH didn’t talk to me most of the day. We were all snapping at each other. DSis and I don’t do well on vacations together. Our personalities just clash when we do trips together. We’re very close, but we’re very different. She likes to see every show, ride every ride. I like to do just what is the most interesting when I’m pressed for time. Since the parks aren’t open very long this time of year, you are pressed for time, especially considering how full it was this week for off-season. DSis walks with a mission...like she’s running a marathon. DH and I like to take our time. DD13 and DDF weren’t paying attention to where anyone else was...they’d just keep on walking until we yelled for them to stop...everywhere we went. The only one who was on her best behavior was DD5...go figure...the one we all expected to have major meltdowns. We all watched Fantasmic & went back to the room.

Am I the only one hoping that yoiu turned the charm in to Lost & Found??

But trip sounds great!!

Your report made me chuckle! Classic that the 5 year old wasn't having the meltdowns, too funny! Can't wait to read more! Thanks!

cute report - especially the green bean sundae!
