A Princess, Pirates and Pixie Dust!

It'll be memories that we can continue to make while they are young. We're told all the time oh don't do that the kids aren't going to remember and my response has always been they may not remember but I will and we'll have the pictures to look back on for them to enjoy the trip all over again. Seems to stop most people in their comments. I'd love to do it in May but I just don't feel comfortable pulling them out for 2 weeks so close to the end of the year (plus they can't miss any of the last 10 days of school or else they lose their spot in the school for the following year). I'd love to have the lower crowds but then again the last trip we took in May we looked like drowned rats by the time we'd get back to our hotel. :rotfl2: So maybe June is better for us. :confused3

Yes, you tell them - they are your memories to make! :goodvibes Oh, yes two weeks would be a long time to miss school.
I'm sorry to tell you, but it rains almost every afternoon in June. Some days not just rain, but half way to your knees in 10 min kind of rain. Plan to leave the park about 3pm take naps, and go back later on after it stops raining It was like that in July too, and I it sounds like August isn't much better. I guess people just hope for the best. See? What to I know - when we went at the end of May the first time, it only rained at night, not in the daytime hours at all. :goodvibes

hey I have been to the biggest ball of twine you know...hahaha

Hi Lady! I believe you! :lmao:

I know about the afternoon rains and plan for those. But we had literally all day drowning rain. :rotfl2: Made for a very interesting trip to say the least since we had an 8 month old and a 27 month old. We literally waded out of the MK one day (really was up to our calves and hitting the bottom of the stroller had to take everything out so it wouldn't be to we to use) because we were just done after 2 hours of waiting for the rain to stop. It still hadn't stopped by the time we were done with naps and ready to go back out. If I remember right we just called it a night that day (rained all night and sprinkled in the morning and didn't let that stop us.)

I remember when we went in July when I was 15 we'd get the afternoon rains for about 30 - 60 mins but we didn't let that stop us. Just kept going but then again I was 15!! :rotfl2:

I remember a whole week of rain one May !!! The rides were walk ons everywhere I loved it !!!

Probably May of 2009!! :rotfl2: If we didn't have the little one's it wouldn't have been a big deal (we do Disneyland in the rain) but we still had a great time!! I still laugh at one of the memories I have from that trip. We had our double stroller (we have a Graco front/back) with the rain cover over it. Well Jeremy hated that thing so he'd pull it up and push it up and over himself so he'd be sitting there getting soaked. We finally said forget it and quit fighting to keep it over him. We got some of the strangest looks but didn't let it bother us. I still laugh about it and when I tell him now what he did he doesn't believe me. :rotfl:

Omg you poor thing!!!! so glad you were ok enough not to be brought out in a stretcher.. THAT would be a story though LOL.

The boys make up is amazing! love the photo shoot too. Looks adorable.

Cant wait to see the floods LOL

Sounds like my next installment! :rotfl2:

That is very cool when you aren't trying to cover strollers, etc. We have had a few days like that. The only thing I hate is being wet and then hitting the A/C. :cold:

Yeah, the stretcher would be a memory, I guess - it would end up being the main thing the littles remembered. :rotfl2:

I was so pleased with all the kids' makeovers! They do a great job of that, and they all loved it!

Floods coming up - although not many drowned camera pics. :goodvibes

I believe you are right .They said it was the most rain for that time of year in 50 years !!!

I heard something like that too. I told DH it was only raining that hard because we were there and who knew when we'd be able to go back.

So it was about 3pm, we had decided to divide and conquer. Ryans wanted to do some shopping on Main Street and Marks wanted to visit Stitch and Tomorrowland Speedway, which we call Otopio because thats what Myles called Autopia at DL when he was 3. It was the only thing he would ride that trip.

I stayed with Marks and Jim went with Ryans. On the way by CP, Mark had me stop at the First Aid station. The nurse said she wasnt allowed to give me an opinion or anything, but she gave me a wrap which she wasnt allowed to place without a doctors orders, and some ibuprofen. Jim had run back to see how I was doing, and he wrapped it for me. That wrap actually was a big help for the rest of the trip.

Okay, medical stuff taken care of, we headed toward Tomorrowland. We stopped for a FP shot - Notice the Sky.....

I think the photographer managed to lighten this one:

The sky was getting really black, so we parked the stroller under the cover at TTA, and everyone but Mav and I headed over to Stitch. I figured that TTA would be an easy way to keep Mav occupied, and it would be mostly inside, so we would be fairly dry there. WRONG!

I innocently carried him up the escalator to our doom. We got settled and the sky opened up and it started pouring rain. Thats okay we are under cover, right? WRONG! We made it through the first half of the ride, and then we came outside back toward COP, I think, and the wind started blowing the cold rain sideways! I put Mav on my lap and tried to shield him from the water, trying to speak calming words to him. The wind picked up to a crazy speed, small tree branches were blowing off and flying all around us and there was thunder and lightening really close! Then it happened. They stopped the ride and made an announcement that due to inclement weather, the ride would have to pause, and we were to remain seated.
Poor Mav! We were outside with that Monsoon rain hitting us, and thunder and lightening and wind all around us. He's sitting in the lap of a lady he barely knows that is "grandma" only he knows shes not grandma. (He still doesnt call me grandma it doesnt compute for him, because I think Grandma was the one good person in his life. She cant have him now because of her past mistakes) He was really quiet, but he cried a little, and I was rocking him and singing to him. Finally, after about 15 minutes of that, they started the ride again. When we got off and came down, fighting through the packed crowd trying to get shelter from the rain, someone had pushed our stroller further out, and it was right under a big dripping leak in the ceiling. A gentleman standing next to it helped me untangle the wheels from another stroller and scoop the water out. I needed to put Mav down so I could try to find something dry to put around him. Just about then, Mark and fam walked up Mav took one look at him, and burst out with a big relieved cry. Poor guy, Grandma was torturing him!

The rain had lightened up a little, so we decided to slosh our way out to the monorail. I had brought ponchos, so we donned them, but with water over our ankles, and up to the bottom of the stroller, and being already wet, it didn't seem to make much difference.

Our ADRs were for 5:45 at 1900 PF for dinner with Cinderella. It had been our plan to all take the boat over to the castle that is GF together. Londynn had been looking forward to taking the boat over to see Cinderella. Well, we were cold and wet and it just seemed like the monorail was the best bet. We called Jim and crew and told them we would meet them at GF. We took the resort monorail to CR and got off there for a little shopping for dry clothes. I think Lindz ended up with a sweatshirt and kept her same pants on. I purchased a pair of shorts and because my shoes were squishy wet, a cute pair of pink Flip Flops with some Mickey bling on them. Those flip flops are actually very comfy to walk in. I changed in the restroom, and we got Londynn dressed up again for her visit with the Princess, and we were back on the monorail again.

NEXT: ROCKIN ROLLER COASTER! ROCKIN ROLLER COASTER!!!!

OMG!! Poor Mav (and you). I know all about wading out of the MK!! Jeff and I still talk about that. Glad you guys were able to get some last pictures in front of the castle before the rain started and that you were able to get some dry clothes.

I'm thinking that we should invent some kind of pop up boat and you could paddle down Main Street on your way out. :lmao:

Love the photopass pictures...especially the second one.

Poor little Mav. I'd be upset with the rain pounding on me too.

So someone moved your stroller so their's would be dry is my guess. :(

Can't wait to hear about 1900 Park Fare.

I'll get Jeff right on that. :thumbsup2 But it has to be able to fold small enough to carry around under the stroller but big enough for your family and stroller to get of the park.

ahh man seems like a crazy afternoon with the rain. glad you were ablet o find some dry clothes...hope dinner went good for you guys.

The first one looks like it should have HM in the background instead of the castle. :goodvibes

I wasn't too happy, either. Yep, I'm thinking someone moved mine back so they could push theirs into the dry spot.

Dinner will be served soon!

:lmao: good specs! Sounds like you have a plan - have him start drawing it up!

Dinner turned out great and was a lot of fun! Coming soon...

So it was about 3pm, we had decided to divide and conquer.

That sounds about as military as "hitting the park commando style".

Marks wanted to visit Stitch and Tomorrowland Speedway, which we call Otopio because thats what Myles called Autopia at DL when he was 3. It was the only thing he would ride that trip.

And it needs a big Octopus as its center piece.

That wrap actually was a big help for the rest of the trip.

That's good... provided you got it checked eventually?
Or if it got better...

We stopped for a FP shot - Notice the Sky.....

Nope.
Not forbidding looking at all.
:rolleyes1:

I figured that TTA would be an easy way to keep Mav occupied, and it would be mostly inside, so we would be fairly dry there. WRONG!

Uh, oh.

I innocently carried him up the escalator to our doom.

That's the last time he'll let you carry him anywhere!

We made it through the first half of the ride, and then we came outside back toward COP, I think, and the wind started blowing the cold rain sideways!

Whoa boy. I'm picturing you and Mav at the helm of the SS Minnow.

The wind picked up to a crazy speed, small tree branches were blowing off and flying all around us and there was thunder and lightening really close!

 Holy smokes!

They stopped the ride and made an announcement that due to inclement weather, the ride would have to pause, and we were to remain seated.

"And you! You, Lady! With the kid!
Muahahahahaaaa!!!
... I mean. Please remain seated and the ride will re-start as soon as possible."

He was really quiet, but he cried a little, and I was rocking him and singing to him.

Aww.. poor little guy.
But it sounds like you did just the right thing.

someone had pushed our stroller further out, and it was right under a big dripping leak in the ceiling.

Gee. Wasn't that nice of someone.
grrr....

Just about then, Mark and fam walked up Mav took one look at him, and burst out with a big relieved cry. Poor guy, Grandma was torturing him!

But on the bright side. It's nice that he's equating Mark with safety.

We took the resort monorail to CR and got off there for a little shopping for dry clothes.

That's smart. I don't know if I would've thought of that.
Probably would have gone all the way back to our resort to change.

Hey! Now we know why they do it!

You know all those people who complain to Disney when it rains?
They don't turn off the rain because they get clothing sales out of it!!

I knew it!!

NEXT: ROCKIN ROLLER COASTER! ROCKIN ROLLER COASTER!!!!

oohhh... Can't wait!
Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

I'm still here - I've just been on a DIS hiatus and promise to get caught up properly very soon! Love the last group shot! :goodvibes

Almost like that.

At DL that would fit, since the submarine is right next to it - now a Nemo ride

That's good... provided you got it checked eventually?
Or if it got better...

I didn't while I was there - Thankfully I thought to take my rings off because the next day my hand was very swollen, but no I waited to get home, then it seemed significantly better and we were moving into our house, so I just kept waiting. There are residual symptoms, but it is too late to worry about - if it gets worse, I'll have to worry then.

Nope.
Not forbidding looking at all.
:rolleyes1:

Uh, oh.

That's the last time he'll let you carry him anywhere!

Whoa boy. I'm picturing you and Mav at the helm of the SS Minnow.

That's exactly the picture I was going for! pirate: I was not exaggerating, either.

 Holy smokes!

That was good to see.

There's always a marketing ploy!
