A Princess, Pirates and Pixie Dust!

Lots of fun character pics! And the other pic that made me laugh was the Beverly one. :rotfl2: Trying it always gets some "serious" expression. :lmao:

Sorry about the snarky waitress at San Angel Inn. But 85$ Nachos sound like a nice snack. :goodvibes :lmao:

you really could have benefited from a trip to the ditch, so close yet so far...haha. I know I have one expectation of "mexican" food. of course it is the american version and san angel is not it. Glad you fed them, I couldn't even imagine if they hadn't eaten...lol

After awhile, the hang gliders came down to earth, and we did a little shopping in the gift shop. Looks like Evan needed a nap - if only the two yr olds would have slept at the same time. :bitelip:

Sounds like a story, there.

Ryan had gotten a Chase meet n greet set up, so we got a private session with Mickey and Pluto!

Nice!

Evan doesn't look too thrilled, does he? The life of a famous person- all that paparazzi going on, you know!

It's gotta be tough. Being famous and all.

Someone... and I'm not naming names, here... but someone looks just a tad excited to be petting Pluto. :rolleyes1:

We headed into Innoventions - somehow I thought there would be more to interest the little ones

Did you try The Great Piggy Bank Adventure?

We had a blast there when the DDs were 4 and 8.

Evan got a little scared when the alarm rang and ran around the house screaming, and trying to find the door, which gave the fireman a good chance to educate the kids on what not to do :rotfl2:

Oh dear!

Back out into the sun – it seemed like a good time to check out Club Cool – I had a taker for the Beverly!

:lmao: I managed to do that to my entire family.

things were starting to go South. (why is that a bad thing??? We live in the South not too bad here, I must say.)

Keep going south. Eventually you wind up in Antartica.

It's cold there!
Not so good when you're wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

I later saw La Hacienda De San Angel, but in looking at the menu, it wasn't "regular" either. I guess things have changed.

Or maybe you were thinking of QS La Cantina de San Angel?

We opened the menus and it got REALLY quiet. Had I known which place it was, I would have known what to expect but $25 to $40 per plate for lunch was not what we were looking for. Jim was FUMING because this place was so expensive for RICE AND BEANS!!!! He really needed a nap.

:lmao:

The waitress started on the other end of the table by the time she got to us she was quite snarky, Sighing and rolling her eyes Im sure because of such a big group having a relatively small ticket and not as much tip coming

Which is dumb. So she's rolling her eyes because she's not going to get a huge tip....

Yeah. Keep rolling your eyes, honey. There'll be no tip.

When we had ordered our appy, she snapped at us and said that the chips and salsa were only complimentary IF you ordered entrees.

Okay, fine.
No problem.
Oh, and can we speak to your manager, please?

grrrrr.....

pkondz does not suffer servers with attitude very well.

IF we wanted chips it would be $4.99 per basket!

:sad2: Maybe thems the rules... but how many servers out there would've provided them for free anyway?

I gave her the MOM look that I use for misbehaving children, and she stopped being so snarky after that.

:rotfl:

When we got the bill, we had something to write on the DIS about - $85 nachos!!! It is still a joke with us.

:scared1:

I hope those were the best nachos you've ever had....

Or ever will!

Heres the BEST part! Londynn still talks about how At Disneyworld, in the Mexican place, theres a REAL volcano and stars! I told Jim while we were fussing over the unexpected menu, the kids were making memories! :goodvibes

Absolutely!
Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Loving the day so far. Not so much the missteps but the memories.

I can see where you can totally get off with the 2 La Haciendas.

Sorry it brought out the 'tude, I know that feeling all too well. I have actually paid attention lately to drinks outside the world and prices of food and well they are not really higher in the World.

Glad you gave the waitress the Mom look.

Hope that little rest did everyone good.

We're batting 1000 about now. :thumbsup2

Well, when you're dealing with me you never know what I'll remember or not - I can see a movie I've seen before and think it's new - almost like 50 First Dates! :rotfl2:

Good to see you back, Tammie; I've missed you.

What a fun update. I am just in love with the whole set of pictures of your private meet and greet with Mickey and Pluto. The family one though is my favorite.

Great face after drinking The Beverly.

We've never eaten in any of the Mexican restaurants (I don't do Mexican food), but I can see with the three of the restaurants over there it getting a bit confusing.

But it ended well and the grandkids made memories...and that is what Disney is all about.

Aw, thanks Kathy!

Our photo session was fun and I really liked how the family one came out - everyone looks so happy! I guess Mickey can do that to ya :goodvibes

I was happy I caught the Beverly shot!

Yep, all's well that ends well.

I love the family picture!! Every one is smiling!!

ugh about the tude from the waitress. At lease she finally started acting right after you gave her the look. Glad the kids were still making magical memories regardless of what was going on around them.

It was a fun pic.
Oh, I do the Mom look well. Two boys close together will teach you that one really quickly! ;)

Sorry about the snarky waitress at San Angel Inn. But 85$ Nachos sound like a nice snack. :goodvibes

The characters were extra playful, and it was an added bonus to have the PP person there!:thumbsup2

I was thinking you and Tom are such foodies that you would have been happy for the experience, and you wouldn't care about the cost! Life is short, right?

you really could have benefited from a trip to the ditch, so close yet so far...haha. I know I have one expectation of "mexican" food. of course it is the american version and san angel is not it. Glad you fed them, I couldn't even imagine if they hadn't eaten...lol

I was seriously looking around, found it - thought about kidnapping Ryan over there with me, but decided I'd rather do the ditch without time constraints

Hmmm, the American version - pretty much not Mexican food. :rotfl2: We have some good mom an pop Mexican places back home, and when we traveled to Puerta Vallarta the recipes were a lot the same, so I think I have a handle on it - I kind of categorize it in two different ways. I remember being in Minnesoder and going to ChiChi's with my grandma - probably my first TexMex - it was very good! :thumbsup2 I was a little shocked by the name, though. :lmao:

Sounds like a story, there.

Just tired grandparents :goodvibes

Nice!

It's gotta be tough. Being famous and all.

:snooty:

Someone... and I'm not naming names, here... but someone looks just a tad excited to be petting Pluto. :rolleyes1:

Well, he was so glad to see me!

Did you try The Great Piggy Bank Adventure?

We had a blast there when the DDs were 4 and 8.
That sounds like fun! I think we gave up too soon - I know there are fun things for little ones there.

Oh dear!

I managed to do that to my entire family.

Keep going south. Eventually you wind up in Antartica.

It's cold there!
Not so good when you're wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

:cold:

Or maybe you were thinking of QS La Cantina de San Angel?

No I remember eating inside - it was in 2004 - but I have had a margarita or two at the Cantina!
:lmao:

Which is dumb. So she's rolling her eyes because she's not going to get a huge tip....

Yeah. Keep rolling your eyes, honey. There'll be no tip.

Except they automatically add the 18% on - I know we could dispute it, but we don't like to make a scene. That's what I'd like to do, the little snot. If she didn't have to serve much, the tip was relative, right. :confused3

Okay, fine.
No problem.
Oh, and can we speak to your manager, please?

grrrrr.....

pkondz does not suffer servers with attitude very well.

:thumbsup2The tip is supposed to be for extra appreciation of exceptional service - it has become a demand, almost. When we were in Phoenix at a Sushi place, and Jim messed up his math without realizing it - the manager followed us out to the car and asked why we only left 10%

:sad2: Maybe thems the rules... but how many servers out there would've provided them for free anyway?

We didn't mind paying for the chips, but it was the way she told us - so rude.

:rotfl:

:scared1:

I hope those were the best nachos you've ever had....

Or ever will!

Absolutely!
Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Thanks for your fun comments!

Loved the Character pix !!! $85 for snax is a lot!!!But if the kids enjoyed it , it was money well spent !!!!

You sound pretty busy right now with both of your jobs! Hang in there.

Poor Evan - getting scared when the fire alarm went off. I can definitely see how that would be scary.

More great pictures!

$85 for that bill? :faint: OMG and that waitress. Seriously? I'm glad you just took it in stride and that the kids actually enjoyed the restaurant so much. It really has great ambiance. When my kids were little they LOVED it there! The always asked to eat there - every trip!

The breakfast at CM looked like such a great time! :goodvibes It was so great seeing Mav responding to Mickey!!
Although, I did tear up a bit when you said something about Mav responding to Pluto and you thinking it was because he was outside by himself around dogs a lot. :sad1:
I guess there is nothing to be sad about now, he's with an amazing family and has lots of people to love him and keep him company. :)

I wish your lunch had been better, and that waitress! I can't stand it when they act like that, she would have gotten a pretty nasty look from me as well and maybe a few choice words on her behavior.

Just remember the CS for Mexico is outside off the water for next time. :thumbsup2 And as far as the ol' memory, you are only one person, you can only remember so much and the rest will just have to go to the way side. :)

Yes, I guess the memories were "priceless" :rotfl2:

Thanks for the encouragement  Hopefully soon I'll just do one of them.

Poor guy - I really felt bad for him.

Yeah, I don't think it's a crime to order appys if you choose to. :confused3 It was nice in there - reminded us of one of the restaurants at our resort when we went to Mexico. The food was good, too!:thumbsup2

Little Mav is definitely part of the family now. It is looking good for the adoption - I know we'll all breathe easier once we know he gets to stay permanently.

I'd have liked to have you at our table - Don't Mess with Texas - right? :lmao:

Yes, I will remember, but the time we ate at a Mexican place we were not outside. I think we might have been at La Hacienda, but they have gussied up the menu a little - okay - a lot! :goodvibes

Another great family pic:thumbsup2
I like the way ya'll managed to salvage the meal even after seeing the prices.Quick thinking! My DH would have probably wanted us to get up and leave.

Thank you! It was a fun one to take.

I'm sure it crossed Jim's mind, and a few more! I'm glad we made it work, too. :goodvibes

HA Im dying about the Beverly Pic.. that's awesome!!!! There's always 1! :)

So is the chase meet and greet free ? I always forget about using mine when Im in the World I end up using the reward points. But forget there is all kinds of perks for actually using the card itself.

Ha $85 nachos... don't feel bad we all have a story or 10 like that, and E would react the same why Jim did. MEN HA. But I LOVE that you found the silver lining the kids were making memories!!! and like you said you did too! For years to come you can say anytime you order nachos.. "this one time at WDW we ordered $85 worth of chips and mom gave the waitress the evil eye for her rude attitude LOL! :rotfl2:

A couple of the kids tried the Beverly, but no real reaction. :goodvibes

Yeah, the chase thing is free. There is a chase lounge, too I've seen - it is in the Test Track building. We didn't go, but it is a place to sit and have a coke and just cool off. You just have to show your chase card to get in. I don't even remember where the chase character meet was - Ryan went in somewhere near there and made a ressie though. I'm sure there's a thread here somewhere...:scratchin

:lmao:$85 chips. Maybe they could use that memory on a commercial sometime. "They'll only be young enough to order the kid's meal for so long, before you have to get them the $85 Nachos".

Hi Polka Dot! Welcome! pixiedust: Love your DIS name! princess: Thank you so much! The best thing about Texas is the wonderful people! We still do love our Ducks, but we'll get there! Love Corpus BTW - I can't wait to visit again and check out South Padre - we went to the State Park (Mustang?) last time - going to check out a little more South next time.

South Padre is so nice! Just make sure you don't go the week of Semana Santa (the holy week in Mexico) or Spring Break! Prices are outrageous (and there are a bajillion people LOL). Next time you're in town let me know and I'll give you some great food places to explore! (ok well great for corpus :) )

Will do! We had quite an interesting meal the day we were there

Be at the top of my own update!:cool1:

With our snacks finished, and feeling refreshed, we realized we were late for a very important date! We had FP for TT and they were due in 5 4 3 2 1 minute!!!! Well, 10 but we were way over in Mexico! I think Ryan and Dana had run ahead expecting us to catch up, but it took a long time for the ticket to get processed, and then a really long time to gather Marks stroller, etc. Ryan realized we wouldnt make it, so he gave our FP away to someone who was walking that direction. Another missed opportunity for fun that we didnt get back.
We didnt let it bother us, we just moseyed on over to Spaceship Earth! The kids were amazed by the big ball! I think the ride really held their attention. Jim and I had Myles and Mason in our car in front of us. It was so fun to see them giggling when their futures came up on the screen!

Now we were ready to try to find Dufenschmertz! We signed up over on the bridge and decided to do the mission in Norway. Myles and Mason each checked out a communicator, and teamed up with their younger sibling. I didnt even take any pics, because I was running back and forth trying to keep up with both teams and see how they were enjoying the experience, and passing out bottles of water. I think they had fun, but by this time the poor little things were getting so hot that they just kind of faded away.... The villain was found, with some puffs of smoke and some little doors opening OOPS! Spoiler alert! So we returned the communicators, and at this time, some people in our party, not mentioning any names, but it will become apparent in a moment, cough cough. Just couldnt take it anymore.

Our little princess was sitting on her Daddy's shoulders, her little face was beet red and her crown was dripping wet. Mav was wiggling around in the stroller and whining, and Lindsay was just done. So this part of our crew decided to take the bus back to the resort and get the littles down for some rest. Myles opted to stay with the rest of us, who were planning to tour the countries. Ryan and I were looking forward to that.

We made a good try, we really did. Having seen Norway, we stopped in Germany and got some delicious caramel to share, and made it over to China and checked out the little clay tomb soldiers and the gift shop next to it.

(pic stolen from a blog - lost the web address)

We got a drum concert in Africa.

We meandered over to Italy and had some gelato, sitting out in the little courtyard. Then suddenly it happened. We looked up and saw the black clouds gathering above, and all of the life went out of our party. Poof! Just like that we were all done. Not in a bad way, just in an I give up kind of way.

I think we tried really hard, but our mood was just not festive one our party broke up. So we headed to the dock for the Friendship boat to take us across. We had just missed one, so I decided I was not leaving Epcot without my Gran Marnier slushy from France! Ryan decided we would be my drinking buddy, so we walked quickly down there, and soon I was introducing my son to the delicious citrus creamy frostiness! He really liked it, so he got one too. We looked back and saw the boat pulling up to the dock, so we walked REALLY fast and made it back just as our family was ready to hop on.

We stopped for THE photopass shot for this park:

Jim wants everyone to know that he is not that sweaty - he was wearing one of those cooling towels that you get wet all week, so his shirts were always wet. :goodvibes
I want everyone to know that I don't hop in front of Dana on purpose! I see in all the pics she is peeking out from behind me. I stand next to her, and then we are told to crowd together, and somehow it ends up like that. I wish I had known, or the PP people would notice and get her in the pic better. :(

And we headed back to the resort on the bus. Once back, we ordered a pizza from Giordano's just down the road, and Ryan and Jim went and picked it up. We took it out to the pool and we all enjoyed a swim and some pizza. Ryan had me come back to the room with him and he filled up my sippie cup with a strawberry daquairi concoction Dana had in the fridge. It was very nice after the crazy day we had. Again, the snack bar closed early it had only rained for a few minutes and it wasnt raining now. I believe it was 8:00 and they came around with Last call for filling mugs and ordering. It was just irritating, because they are supposed to be open until 9. People expect to be able to come back and have a burger or a drink at the pool and fill up their mugs. As the week went on it closed earlier and earlier each night. One night they were giving last call at 7:30 pm.
We still had fun swimming and playing and then it started to feel pretty chilly so it was off to bed!

NEXT: BEACH BUMS!
:beach:

Sometimes when it is that hot, you just have to call an audible! That's very strange about the snack bar closing early...you don't usually see Disney giving up money making opportunities!

Jill in CO

There were a few times on this trip when we needed to sit and rest because it was so hot; it's especially hard on the little ones.

Glad the kids liked Spaceship Earth (one of my favorites).

Pool, pizza and a strawberry dacquiri? A perfect end to the day!

Yes, sometimes you just have to admit defeat. :rotfl: The snack bar/pool bar issue was very curious :confused3 I meant to talk to management, but I was having too much fun having fun so it never happened. :goodvibes

Yes, Londynn especially can't take the heat. She faded fast yesterday when I took her out to shopping and lunch and we tried to eat out on the patio.

Yes a little relaxation and a little beverage never hurts. ;)
