This will be our lst time here and I have read about the interaction with the staff. Maybe the ds will like it since they are teens and they asked to try a new place this time but I know definetely dh and I will not want to participate. How can we politely tell our server that we would just like to enjoy and meal and that is it. I dont want to offend them and I dont want them to think our answer is a joke etc. Maybe even the ds wont like the antics etc. I am wondering if I even made the right choice with this restraunt. Anyone ever see people just enjoying the food only? Sorry if we sound like party poopers.

I've heard that the servers are pretty good at being able to judge who is willing to play along and who isn't. It's not really as crazy there as some other places like the Whispering Canyon ... They'll just tell you to wash your hands before dinner and to keep your elbows off the table. The participation isn't really a big deal....but to each their own. They don't make you run screaming through the resturant or anything, some some other places! :D

Honestly, if you are worried about it, then I wouldn't bother going. A meal isn't worth it if you are going to be concerned. :)

Honestly, I don't think the place is really worth the effort. The food is just so-so, to me and when I'm out to dinner, I don't want my "gradma" there admonishing me for not eating my peas. If you're dead set on it, then give it a shot. But for me, I would rather eat anywhere else.

We ate there for our second time a few weeks ago. I must say that the antics were very much toned down than our first visit and the food was actually better. I love the decor and I think it is just a fun restaurant. There really wasn't that much playing around going on anywhere that day other than our server told my ds it was his chore for the day to pass out the silverware.

We've been there 3 times this year. It's my ds20's favorite for food. I was very nervous the first time, because I had read about it! Our service was great. My Aunt spilled some milk shake and our 'cousin" brought a huge pile of napkins and announced to the whole place and then was on to the next table. I thought my Aunt would be embarrassed, but she just laughed and cleaned it up. The next 2 times it was me,my DH and dd 20 and 2 ds 16&18. The server was great and did the regular stuff, but nothing embarrassing. It was all in good fun. I do think they have a good ability to read who wants to stand out and those of us that don't. Other tables were doing things to get "in trouble" and it was very funny. We also had some trivia and joke telling going on in our section. Not a quiet meal, but we enjoyed it. My teens enjoyed the food, except the greenbeans,(he just said "I won't tell g-ma you didn't like her green beans) and they got dessert. So, yes, I stressed until we sat down and met the cousin, then enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere, and I kept my elbows off the table. We love the fried chicken and every dessert! We have ADR's for Dec! Have a great trip!

We went this past September and had a great time. Our server, Cousin Joey, was pretty toned down and the food was great! So, maybe you could ask for him?

Like the PP said, I think the servers can tell who is willing to play along and who isn't.

I went in June hoping for some of the antics..even requested an "animated" server....instead I got the world's most boring server. He didn't even bother bringing the "dessert menu"..had to borrow one from the table next to us. We did have fun watching some of the other tables getting in trouble..It was fun to watch.

We're going back in January. Hopefully we'll get different service this time..If not, oh well, the smores are worth the return trip.

We're not the most extroverted people in the world and I was concerned with taking my husband here too. He's OK with things but certainly not having to stand up and do "I'm a little teapot" or having green beans "airplaned" to him.

He likes 50s. It's not a place he would run back to every single trip but he goes for the food. It's simple and he likes that. On that last trip, *I* was the one that didn't want any antics. But he enjoyed the things going on around us. It's really no big deal.

The servers are really good with figuring out if you want to "play" or not. It's usually established when they take your drink and then your meal order. And all you have to do is tell them that you want a nice quiet meal.

We were there a few weeks back and enjoyed it very much. It was DH and D Adult S. DS had told me he didn't want a lot of antics and I worried too.
Our server was great and we all had a great time. DS and DH were removing their hats as he came to the table and he congratulated them. He brought a basket of silverware and told Ds to "set the table". DH cleaned his plate and as our server walked by, he picked it up and announced to the room "This is how you clean your plate". Things like that. Nothing over the top and nothing annoying at all.
We all enjoyed it a lot, including skeptical DS.
I thought the food was very good. I did not go expecting a gourmet meal experience. I expected good, hot comfort food and that is what we had.
We would return in a heartbeat.
HTH

We ate there twice in September and had fun. We are pretty much "wallflowers"... never the center of attention, and it was not "to much" for us. Our "Aunt" put a bib on my hubby as he ask for more napkins and "Mom" had us do "homework" while we waited on dinner to be finished. It is fun, but not crazy! The dessert menu comes on a Viewmaster, which was cool and the decor is awesome. The food is good but not exceptional, however the food coupled with the atmosphere make it an exceptional place to eat! :thumbsup2 ENJOY!
