A precious gem of a weekend!7/23 Finished! link to new TR

We will be going to CP for dinner on our next trip too. This will be a whole new experience for us.

I really wish we can do a quick trip just to see MNSSHP. That looks like a lot of fun. I just receive my 40% pin code but I can't justify it knowing we will going back a month later. I am still trying to save big for another camera.

I bet it must be awesome able to wander around MK that late all by yourself. I would have a field day taking picture all over the park. I wouldn't want to go back to the resort.

I thought the starting song “Boo to you” was very catchy. I wanted to get the soundtrack but since it wasn’t on the meal plan Dh talked me out of it. ?
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: OK - this line really cracked me up!!!! Oh brother!!!! :rotfl:

I loved your update. And I loved your pictures cause they captured exactly what you did. And you guys made great use of your party ticket. I think 40 mins is a bit long to wait for the carriage picture, but at least your DH is really smiling.

Did you ever find chocolate? The candy kind-of stunk at the beginning of the party, but I thought it got way better at the end. They were just throwing handfuls in the bags - and YES, there was chocolate. In the beginning it was raisins. :confused3 Who wants that?

Fun update!

Fun update! We all have moments at Disney where our parenting skills were not the best! I have one from freaking out at Astro Orbiter.

I know what you mean about braving the summer crowds! I am a little stressed about the same thing! Hopefully we are both worrying for nothing.

That was very sweet of you to give up your front row seats. I don't know if I would have been as nice as you!

MNSSHP is so much fun -- seeing all of your pictures makes me want to go again! :goodvibes

Ok that beeper thing made me laugh out loud :rotfl2:

6 days????????????????? Why aren't you dancing???????

 I'm dancing. Mostly I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. School isn't done yet and we've got piano and ballet recitals this weekend plus Jedi (DS7) has an away basebase game.

I love Disneyworld at Halloween and the MNSSHP.... the parade, the costumed characters, Cinderella's Coach....we've only dont it once, but I loved the party.

Great pictures....I can't believe you guys are there in less than a week!!!

It was very similar to the pirate and princess parties they used to have. Still, I'd love to take the kids to see the holiday party. I think they'd love it.

I cringe with how horrible my photos are compared to yours. I really have to read my camera manual.

I think you'll enjoy CP both for the food and the picture taking possibilities.

It was kind of wierd to wander around by myself. I think I'd rather share the experience with someone.

There was no way I would have enjoyed myself knowing that those kids were right behind me. The parents kept turning back to make sure that DH and I could see. Plus they were very appreciative so that helped. I still had a good view, just not a front row centre one.

Fun update!

I love that you guys had so much fun and your DH's improved mood over the last trip! Amazing what free food can do. :rotfl: I think it's great you stayed to look on your own even if you didn't end up getting anything, nothing worse than wondering what you might have found.

You do get to choose the character. You even get to choose which outfit the character will wear. So this is a great way to get those rarely seen outfits.

It was so fun talking about all the possibilities with the special events CM. They really think of everything

You have to know I'm totally pushing the brunch. But sadly, it seems it will not happen. With the extra price of paying for the mandatory workshops at the competition and the seasonal pricing at Disney, most of the dance parents are in sticker shock. They didn't want to shell out more $.

I suspect there will still be more changes coming as your trip draws nearer. You've got quite a cast of characters. I think having a brunch in your back pocket as a possibility will turn out to be a great thing.

I'm sad you team brunch didn't pan out, but can relate to the sticker shock. How fun though to even try to plan one!

Okay I really meant to finish this TR before I left. But... I'm not going to. I'm sorry. I promise to finish when I come back. For tomorrow I leave for Disney!

Today was super busy. Eeoyre (DS11) had his grade six graduation ceremony. I took a few pictures for you.

Here's Dh and I with him.

I'm happy to announce that he won the award for "Excellence in the Arts" along with another girl from his dance team. This was in celebrations of his dance, drama, and musical background. Here they are holding their plaque.

I didn't think to take a full body picture of him in his outfit. Just picture grey skinny jeans and black Vans and you get the picture.

So now I must head upstairs and start shoving things in bags. Right now I just have piles everywhere. I like making the piles. I hate the actual packing.

Tomorrow at this time I will be on the road to Disney. Or at least on the road to the airport hotel. Our plane leaves in the early am so we needed to get a head start.

On the packing front, we're missing a few dance items. Cindy (DD9) has two right jazz shoes. :confused3 We're hoping someone else on the team has two left shoes but if not then she's dancing in what she's got. She's also missing her backup tights and her warmup suit pants. So let's hope that she doesn't get a run in her tights and that the air conditioning in the building isn't too cold that she needs long pants.

I suppose it could be worse. If that's the worst of it then, it's not too bad.

Here's my quickie schedule. We're staying at CSR from June 30-July 6.

June 30-early flight, swim at pool, MK for dinner and parades. Crystal Palace 6:30

July 1-DS day. 12:00 primetime, 7:00 Chef Mickey's
JUly 2-Cape May 8:15, Epcot day, Le cellier 5:15pm
July 3-Dancing am, waterpark,
July 4-Dancing am, waterpark, 6:00 T-rex
July 5-Tusker House 8am, AK day, Boma 6:30pm
July 6-Dance AM, waterpark, flight home 5pm

I'm leaving you with one last image. When I was at the liquor store buying teacher gifts (yes, I give all my kid's teachers alcohol but remember I know them pretty well because I work at the same school) I saw this display. You can bet that on my Epcot day I'll be having one of these in a slushie.

Not sure if I caught you in time, but I hope you have a fantastic trip!!!

Responding to your recent updates:
Sounds like you had a really good time at the party, and it was so sweet to give that family your parade spot!

Oh I should mention that when we checked in, we were given a buzzer. The buzzer said “If found return to the crystal palace for a complimentary dessert” Dh thought that was funny as the restaurant is a buffet. How would they monitor people going in to get dessert and not a full meal?

I wonder if they would just give you a cupcake? :rotfl:

While I love ogling all the fabulous pictures on these boards, I don’t have any inclination to attempt that type of photography. But I really admire others who do.

That's me, exactly! I so admire the awesome pictures on this board, but I don't have the patience (or desire) to really learn to do it myself!

I thought the starting song “Boo to you” was very catchy. I wanted to get the soundtrack but since it wasn’t on the meal plan Dh talked me out of it.

:lmao:

Dh was sound asleep when I returned back.

I'm surprised Mr. Tentacles didn't wake right up! ;)

We'll be thinking of you!! Have a great trip and I can't wait to hear all about it. Great picture and please pass on our congrats on the award....and I hope cindy doesn't have to dance in those shoes:lmao:

Have a safe and magical trip! I can't wait to hear how it all went. Say hello to Mickey and the gang for me. I hope the weather stays wonderful for you. HAVE FUN! :cool1:

I got caught up just in time for you to leave!

The Hallowe'en party looked like lots of fun  Though I sympathize with you on AstroOrbitor - I was riding with Jean (DD, 4 at the time) and she was getting annoyed that I wasn't moving our rocket up and down while I was just concentrating on not getting too dizzy

Have a wonderful time this week and best of luck to Eeyore and Cindy and their friends :goodvibes

I didn't think to take a full body picture of him in his outfit. Just picture grey skinny jeans and black Vans and you get the picture.

I swear he and Evan have the same wardrobe! They could be twins in the clothing category. :rotfl:

Have a GREAT trip! I can't wait to read about it, especially all the waterpark days. I didn't realize you had that much waterpark time planned and can't wait to hear about it.

And I hope that left shoe turns up! I love it...

and that's how it should be, no crazed running around to buy new whatevers. It's there...or it isn't. :thumbsup2

I know you're just going to have a fabulous time!! Enjoy every minute!!

And, of course, you're going to have a Grey Goose!! ;)

Okay all caught up! And I really really enjoyed reading your TR -- up to the last day with all your "goodbyes" :guilty: I had the same separation anxiety earlier this week...

Anyhow I can't wait to hear more and see more both the end of your fall trip AND the adventure of Dancing in Disney!!! :upsidedow

When I last left off we had done the MNSSHP including a dinner at the CP, a disappointing lack of chocolate in our treat bags, a long lineup for a photo of Cinderella’s coach and a solo end of the evening for me.

The next morning, I had my magic express envelope.

The melancholy of its arrival didn’t hit me as hard as it has other trips. I knew there was a possibility of an upcoming trip for the dance competition (assuming I could talk DH into it) and we have been planning a grand gathering with my brother and his in-laws for 2012. I’m like a junkie; I need to know when my next fix will be.

It was a morning to pack up and reminisce about our trip. Magic Express was picking us up at 8:45 am. So we really only had time to pop over to Pepper Market for breakfast and hit the road. However, I did take the time to photograph all my purchases. Dh thought I was crazy but then having been introduced to all of you on the disboards, I know I’m not alone in my craziness.

Here are my soaps and bath fizzies from Basin. I know I posted them earlier but it just fits to put them back in here again.

And here is my Kingdom Keepers book II, my Cinderella Coach for my vehicle (which is still alive and well) and my photo album (which is now full of pictures from the trip).

Here is the free dinning bounce back offer that I didn’t make use of.

Here are treat bags (minus a few candies). We did find some chocolate but not much. Maybe 8 or so pieces. I took these pictures later when I got home.

Here are the cereals that we bought for the kids that we can’t get in Canada.

Here are a few other treats for the kids that once again we can’t get in Canada.

Last but not least, here are the mandatory rice krispie Mickey heads that the kids insisted we pick up for them.

I’d like to say that our trip home was uneventful. Magic Express was not so magical. We were out at the bus stop with 10 minutes to spare. Our flight left at 11:30 and our bus pickup time was 8:45. So not quite three hours. However, I’ve always had plenty of time in the airport so I wasn’t worried.

Let me tell you that bus stop was packed with people. The 8:30 bus hadn’t shown up yet. In fact, the 8:30 bus didn’t show up until 9:05. Of course it was packed and not all the 8:30 people could get on it. The 8:45 bus finally showed up at 9:15.

Remember before the parade when I let the family with the strollers take over my front row spots? Well, I let a family with two small children load before Dh and I. I’m not sure why. It was a reflex I guess.

Or maybe it’s because I’m too Canadian. I foolishly figured there would be seats for everyone. Well, not so. No seats for you exclaimed the magic express driver and off they went.

By this time it’s like 9:30. I’m angry and panicky. Of course I’m still angry and panicky in my nice Canadian way. So I don’t know if it was noticeable to anyone but me.

Dh talked to the ME CM’s. He explained that we now had 2 hours before our flight left. Other people around us were late too but not as late as Dh and I. Apparently some people scheduled to leave later than Dh and I had snuck past us to load on the other buses.

The ME CM said they were calling in an extra bus and it should be here soon. A regular Mears bus arrived at 9:50. Dh and I were the first ones on it.

Whew. I thought. But then, we didn’t go anywhere for like 15 minutes. I don’t know why not. A regular ME bus showed up and took off in the time we waited on board. All the while I’m doing the math in my head. If it’s 25 minutes to get to the airport and 30 minutes to get past security are we going to make it?

Well, we did make it but just barely. Our plane was loading when we found our terminal. Normally we have time to buy an incredibly overpriced snack at the terminal but not today. Today we just made it in.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about my altercation at security.

No, it wasn’t with a security officer. It was in fact with a senior citizen. It wasn’t one of my finest moments. Remember that I was stressed about making my plane and had put up with many delays already.

So I’ve passed the present your passport and boarding pass part. I’ve waited many minutes in the huge lineup to go through the x-ray machines. Then they open up another aisle. I grab Dh and run for it. We are just about to grab those trays to put your things in when a retired couple comes towards us. The man asks if he can go in front of us. He’s in a hurry.

“We’re in a hurry too.” I say and continue to put my things in my tray.

“Please, our plane leaves in less than an hour and I’m worried we won’t make it. My wife doesn’t walk as well as she used to.”

I’m thinking they both walked over here pretty quick and what’s the big deal about going behind me and Dh. We don’t have much luggage. Are these guys any more important than I am?

I had HAD it up to here (if you could see me you would know that I’m making gestures at the top of my head) with people pushing me around and thinking that just because Dh and I seem like a nice rule abiding middle class middle aged traveling with no children couple that we can be pushed aside.

“Well we have 20 minutes to catch our flight. It’s already boarding.”

“With 20 minutes at your age, you’re sure to make it”

I was about to blow my top. Who did this man think he was? He was dripping in Gucci and obviously used to getting his way.

I really didn’t want to give him his way.

We were holding up the line.

I could have been through by now. The man was not saving anytime by having this conversation with me.

Luckily a security guard overheard. The Guard suggested the man and his wife go to another aisle nearby. The one that was set aside for people who needed extra help.

So I was saved from myself. I should have just let the man and his wife through. I try to live with the idea of what goes around comes around and that if I put out a pleasant attitude that good things will come my way.

But sometimes…. Sometimes I feel like a pushover and I can only take so much. I had already let that other family stand in front of me for the parade and I had let the other family go in front of me at the magic express bus and look where it got me. Through airport security with 20 minutes to spare and a crappy view of the parade.

Luckily our gate was close. Even luckier, a starbucks beside it had NO LINEUP. Normally Dh gives me the evil eye when I according to him “waste” money at starbucks but I needed every bit of that mocha coffee goodness that morning. I even let them put whip cream on it.

On the plane, I felt myself start to relax. Then I decided to broach the subject of our next Disney trip with Dh. I came clean and told him about the dance studio entering the Dance America competition at the Coronado next July.

He said…….

“We’ll just see about that.”

But of course if you’ve been following along, you know that he finally agreed to it. He decided NOT to join us. Instead I took my mother and Dh stayed home with our youngest.
