IT is commonly assumed that small-chested women feel that nature’s lottery has left them coming up short. The parade of heaving bosoms in Victoria’s Secret catalogs not only suggests that bigger is better but also that supersizing with a push-up bra is universally desired.

Wrong, says Ellen Shing, the owner of Lula Lu, a Web site and boutique in San Mateo, Calif., that cater to AAA- to A-cup sizes. She says that while a small number of her customers come in looking for padded bras and tell her, “Make me as big as you can,” the majority “don’t want to supersize themselves.”

I'm not small busted, but I really like what Lula Lu is doing

I think that's awesome. Now we need someone who makes "super size" bra's that are not padded to make you look bigger. I really don't need to look any bigger !!

I don't get why they make "super sized" bras that make you look larger. I'm not quite "super sized", but I wouldn't want to look larger myself.

I think the secret that every small busted woman knows as she ages is that we may have felt gypped when we were younger but the payoff is really great later on. I come from a family of large busted women and they're all jealous of the fact that I don't have back issues, I didn't have to have reduction surgery, and, well, quite frankly, I don't have to worry about anything sagging.

I've even noticed buying clothes for my pre-teen in the appropriate section assumes all girls are busty or want to be. Tops are padded, swimsuits are padded and of course pre-teen bras are padded and formed in the shape of big bust. Some tops are way too loose at the top and low cut for her. She wants to enjoy the style/brands her friends do but it's so hard to find a modest fit.

When the topic of large vs small chest has come up, my typical response is "Well, at least it doesn't hurt when I run."
