I feel VERY fortunate to report that PeaPod (grocery delivery service from Stop 'n Shop Supermarkets I've been using for several years) was MORE than great this morning. Delivery 1/2 hour early (I was happy about that, as i'm always ready early), and I got MOST of my stuff, with the exception of 2 frozen meals, a bag of frozen corn, a pint of Ben & Jerry's (which I don't need anyway, it was a "stress reward" to myself), and the Daily Shower Cleaner Spray I ordered. I was even able to get long lasting skim milk, eggs, several kinds of meat, a a few cans of mushrooms, lasagna (going to make a crockpot lasagna this weekend), 2 kinds of cheese for the lasagna as well as some slicked deli cheese, a roll of paper towels (don't really need right now, but figured getting ONE roll is not a selfish thing, 2 boxes of Kleenex, and even a small bottle of Acetomininophen (they substituted for a larger bottle, which is fine - I don't usually use it, but got some instead of the Ibuprofen I always have on hand in case some of what i'm reading from WHO about not using Ibu for Covid-19 is proven). ,several multipacks of yogurt, and shelf stable fruit. Also several kinds o fresh fruits and veggies. I know a lot of the types of things I've mentioned are in short supply, or unobtainable in a lot of places, so that's why I'm mentioning all of them in particular).,
As someone who is in a "heightened risk" category for several reasons, and being disabled and not driving, I was very curious and slightly pessimistic about what might happen, but VERY happy at the result. This is one of the few human contacts I am subjecting myself to, and will make everything last at least a few weeks, as I usually only do a grocery delivery twice a month, or even less. I told the delivery person with my words how much I appreciated him (and asked him to tell any co-workers the same), and also gave him a more-than-usual generous tip.
I've also been spreading the word on social media that yes - first responders, health care workers of all types,, etc. ARE heroes right now, but so are a LOT of "forg0tten" people in this - retail workers of all types, delivery people of all types, garbage collectors, mailmen, and all types of public employees in the planning, logistics, response, and recovery portions of all this. I;m sure there are MANY more I've forgotten, but PLEASE do your best to send healing light to those I've thought of/mentioned, thank them if you see them, and be grateful to them for being there for all of us, when we all need them more than ever.
Wanted to share something HOPEFUL and HAPPY at this time. Hopefully I made someone's spirit a tiny bit brighter by sharing, and can "spread the love" with a ripple effect at least a tiny bit. That would make me SO happy.
Stay healthy, stay positive, try to find something GOOD to concentrate on today, there is enough BAD out there to go around, MANY times over. Socially distanced hugs to all from a grateful human in New Jersey!!
