Heres a poll about the gas prices. We have vacation planned in 2 weeks and now we are questioning what to do because of all the gas talk. Yes I know that there are much more important things to worry about then OUR vacation but we have been waiting so long and its paid for and there is no way of getting a full refund. I have no idea what Disney will do if we CAN'T GET THERE because of gas.

Anyway do you think the gas shortage, lines, etc. is REAL or is it all panic? Will it straighten itself out in a few weeks or is it something thats going to cause problems for a long long time??

Since there weren't gas shortages before the hurricane, once they start getting stuff back online everything should go back to normal. If there are shortages they should only be temporary until gas gets trucked in. I agree that if tons of people didn't run out at the same time, then this probably wouldn't be an issue.

I agree with MagicKingdom05 and hopefully this will be true. I was watching ABC's special tonight and they said that the oil rigs and the like in the Gulf will be up and running by the weekend. Hopefully (fingers crossed) it should all level out within two weeks or so.

RyMickey,

That's what I heard as well. They are bringing out portable generaters to get them started while power to them can be restored and the the platforms fixed.

every one here was panicing today there were goingto be no deliveries etc, but honestly, with prices where they are now,, do you really believe that the gas companies are going to let tanks stay dry for long?

there was a 55 cent increasre all over town here since yesterday morning, and this after noon staions that had no one there yesterday were stacked up with lines.. the pruice jumped, people started getting paniccy and are fillinmg up every thing thta runs with three dollar agallon plus gas,, so why would a comany let a tank stay dry? there are other refineries around, that can and will take up as much slack as they can, and will up thier production till the gulf platforms and south la refineries are going again.

I really don't have a clue but I do hope it's #2.

If people would just stay calm and "watch" the gas stations instead of topping off every chance they get, then it wouldn't be so bad. Listen, I drive about 40 miles to work, round trip 5 days a week, if anyone should be worried about gas, I should be one of them. However, instead of panicking like I first did when I thought Katrina was coming this way, I just filled up a couple gas cans, a 2 gallon and a 1 gallon along with filling my tank because it was time and from that point, a week ago, I've just been watching the stations. Prices HAVE NOT risen here, :teeth: :cool1: and only two gas stations that I've seen have their pumps covered up. Know what else I've noticed....I've seen 3 tanker trucks in 3 days, before and after the hurricane.

It'll be fine everyone, just hang in there! ;)
