A Platinum's Critique Of The DREAM 09/25/11

I completely agee with all of you comments..we are also platinum, and we did not like many things about the design of the Dream..we are booked on the Fantasy and i hope they made alot of changes..
thanks again for bringing the truth out

I am really enjoying the Platinum viewpoints! I am also platinum and we set sail next week. I am looking forward to seeing all the amazing things the Imagineers have thought up this time!

Thanks for getting me even more excited!!!

I do not think that the on board credit is given to every platinum cruiser simply for cruising again (in fact, this was the first time we received a mystery on board credit). I believe it was given as a back-to-back perk, but do not know if it is limited to back-to-back platinums or any guest who cruises back-to-back.

Thanks so much for the review!! I think I need a dictionary to remind me what egress and ingress mean...;) but I digress :)

One question on Remy...I was hesitant to try it, financial really- I have our family of five budgeted on a $500 a month budget...thinking of spending a 1/3 of that for one meal sends me over the edge...don't get me wrong, we can afford it..but we will have 3 kids in college in 3 years...so we're doing all we can to help cushion their futures...that said, our cruise on the FAntasy next September is our 20th anniversary...our first 3 anniversaries before kids we splurged on foodie type restaurants in Atlanta...I can still remember the taste of the meal I had that first time! So, I think I should put my practical side to the side and splurge on a meal there.

You mentioned you chose two different menus...American and French? Are there others? How is the menu set? We do not drink..so that should save us some money...could you elaborate on the meals there? We dined at Palo's for dinner the last cruise...the service was what made the meal for us, but honestly, we were not that overwhelmed by the food. The steak, while tender had very little flavor...I was hoping to be blown away, I still recall our steak at 103 West and Bones in Atlanta..but the one at Palo's was forgettable sadly. I would not mind spending the money on Remy's if the food was out of this world...I care less about presentation as I do about taste that is unforgettable and likely not duplicated in my kitchen! :) Thanks for your help!

DW and I love great food, both in presentation and taste, and we both felt that Remy exceeded all of our wildest expectations in both. It is simply a culinary experience and compares favorably to the finest of restaurants where we have eaten on land or sea (think Victoria & Albert's at the Grand Floridian for comparison's sake, although it even differs from that experience). It's impossible for me to say that $75 per person to dine there is "worth" it for you folks, especially when other meals are included with the price of your cruise. Having said that, I would not pass it up; it's that special, and especially if you are celebrating a special occasion.

There are two ways to experience Remy. One is to order from the French tasting menu (Saveur) or the American tasting menu (Gout) where each course is selected by the chefs and optionally paired with the wine for the course. This is the way we chose to dine at Remy. The other is to order from the a la carte menu, where you would typically choose a salad/starter, a main course and a dessert. It leaves the diner with more options, but it appears that fewer guests choose this option for whatever reason. I do not think that you could go wrong with either way to dine there. Here is a link to the Remy menu (which of course changes seasonally):

Although we love Palo and our experience on the Dream at Palo was outstanding (sorry your steak was less than you expected - sometimes the cut of meat just isn't as flavorful as other times), Remy is clearly the signature dining establishment on the Dream and dining there is crafted to be the penultimate culinary event on the ship. Enjoy!
