Way to bring politics into it, buddy.

Here's 3 other words that might be more important here: Thanks, Matthew Knittel.

well, without saying thanks george, we wouldn't have to say thank you matthew knittel.

I just think the photograph is a very forceful reminder of what george is really doing. I think he should wake up every morning and be forced to look at this picture. Of course, he probably never even gets close to seeing the real heardship that his crusade brings on the American people.

Actually I think the picture is something that deserves an award since it catches so much emotion in a picture, and the emotion is so strong on both sides of the issue

I agree

Matthew Knittel voluntarily joined the military. Thank you Matthew Knittel. One day when little Nico is old enough to understand what his father is doing - he'll be pretty darn proud of his father.

I agree. Well said.

If the US wasn't in Iraq, Matthew Knittel would be needed elsewhere and that picture would be just as poignant. Thank you Matthew Knittel and thanks to the families of all our armed forces.

Heather, so well said, so true.

As for the picture, it is a great one, shows the unmistakable emotion of child/parental separation, a necessary by-product of Matthew Knittel's sacrifice for what he believes in.

A big thank you to Matt, and so many men and women like him. Thanks for sharing this very patriotic photo, Denny. :goodvibes

You could see that picture anywhere, any time, in any military family. The Military gets deployed ALL the time, whether we are at war or not. That father could just as easily been going to Okinawa for a year in 1988 or Rota Spain in 1986..That is what the military does.
I heald Taralyn while she cried in much the same way when he left on WestPac in 1999. MY mother cried the same way when I left for Paris Island in 1988
