A perspective: disappointed in stay at BWV

I apoligize. Doctor P was just making an honest observation and I should of taken it that way. (It actually wasn't that post alone that began my desire to defend my favorite place, BWV) Sorry about the putt comment, I have stayed at OKW and have found it to be real nice. As said before, DVC offers many different options for all of us.

I own at BCV and BWV. I love them both, and I find it difficult to complain about anything when I go - I'm just too happy to be there!
However, my family has stayed at several resorts with my sister, who owns timeshares in 3 different companies. With the exception of the resort in Victoria, BC, the rooms at WDW are smaller. Sorry, but it's true. I love BWV and BCV unconditionally, but the facts is the facts!!
I also think that as a group, we should be grateful, not defensive, when someone posts less than wonderful observations about DVC resorts. It is an opportunity for us to determine if there's something that should be addressed with DVC management. While the room size isn't such an issue, closing the Boardwalk down early might be. If that continues or gets worse, would it not have a negative impact on the value of our vacations? I'm not saying it's a big problem, just pointing out that tolerance of "negative" posts is a positive thing for this group.

It's all cool Dave. Thanks for the post. I understand about your comment that it's not only 1 post that prompts replies such as the one you made earlier. I can say the same about what I've heard about OKW on these boards. It's almost like you get this built-up defense mechanism from so many various negative commments over time. I truly enjoy my stays in all the DVC resorts for various different reasons. They're all gems of resorts if you ask me.

I've only stayed in a one bedroom BWV and the regular hotels at Disney - the villa was great and for me, I did not think it was small at all (the space was much more than what I've ever had in a reg. hotel room at Disney).

But I will say that after staying in one, I plan on booking a two bedroom when I travel with the children (two) because I just think it would be a hassle to have to pull out that couch each night for sleeping.

And, yes, when we went the boardwalk was closed up tight at night. and not only the board walk but the hotel itself !! (At 1am I had to go out "looking for someone"...never mind about that....and the hotel was EMPTY - NO ONE at the front desk - no one anywhere. Spooky really. I had to call information on the room phone just to get security. Not a place I'd want to wander around all by myself.

Any post that may persuade someone to not stay at BWV is a good thing for us. Especially if it means they will choose OKW. That is our last choice but always seems available. BWV is our favorite and hardest to find available. Thanks Doctor P!

I will say..thank goodness for the choices we are afforded through DVC. You try it, you like it, you go back. If not move on.....that's the variety of life and how lucky are we to have so many opportunities before us to choose from. :)

I don't think DocP's post will make people not book BWV (soweey). I think it was an objective viewpoint and meant to be informative. I also think OKW is usually available because it is a much larger resort---many more rooms. I was able to secure a BWV reservation in the middle of summer with no problem this year. I'm sure there are times when BWV is tough to get (holidays, Food and Wine Festival), but then there are other wonderful DVC options to choose from. That's what's great about it.

We tend to use a combination of studios and 1 bdr on our trips. At the beginning of our trip when everyone is anxious to tour (or on a short stay) we stay in a BWV studio, you can't beat the location for Epcot and MGM touring. Then after the first week when we settle in we get a 1 bdr at OKW. I've tried the 1 bdr at VWL and BWV and while they were very nice the OKW 1 bdr is just so much larger, not to mention less points so I can squeeze out my 3 weeks! I think the OKW 1 bdr is bigger than my DH's first apartment. I love VWL for the theme, BWV for the location and OKW for the SPACE. Where we book depends what kind of a trip we want.
