A perfect July 4th at WDW

Thanks to the CM at the American Pavillion who suggested that we NOT wait in the lobby for the Voices of Liberty, we were perfectly positioned to watch the shuttle launch while the Fife and Drum Corps played "Off we go into the wild blue yonder". Following that was a rousing performance of the Voice of Liberty in which they recognized all branches of the military. And to top it all off, the American Dream attraction. It was a memorable afternoon.

The ironic part may be that we had dinner at the Rose & Crown. My wife was hoping that we would have a table near the lake so that she could order iced tea and then chuck it into the bay and declare that taxation without representation was unfair.

Was Illuminations changed at all? Would be really cool if they inserted some different music or colors. I've always wondered if WDW is one of the special places to be on the 4th because of the extras for the event.

There is an additional fireworks show after IllumiNations on July 4th that features music by American composers accompanied by fireworks. During the finale of the special show, they fire off hundreds of shells at the same time and it feels as though someone is pounding on your chest. It's quite a rush.

I was at WDW this past Christmas season and Disney put on a similar program each night in December.

The Fantasy in the Sky fireworks at the Magic Kingdom were done on both July 3rd and 4th this year, so we managed to catch that show as well. And while we were waiting by torch #3 (next to the stave church in Norway), we managed to have a pretty good view of the special fireworks at Disney MGM Studios. When we got back to our room at Old Key West, we saw the fireworks at Downtown Disney. It was a great trip for us to see fireworks this year.

I would only dump the nasty Nescafe tea in the bay personally. I guess that defeats the purpose since it's an American creation though.
