Screamscape:

This latest bit of news comes from ETC, who we believe to be the hardware provider for Space’s ride system. They’ve expanded the company a bit to add a new website for their ride division (therideworks.com) where you can see a computer animated still of what the ride system pods will look like. Acording to their spec sheets they are calling the system BigMAC and it will feature ten 4-seat cars on each centrifuge. The ride will feature 3 DoF (Degrees of Freedom) movement: Pitch: +40º / -55º, Roll: +/- 25º, and the 360º Planetary movement created by the Centrifuge itself. All of this will allow for the ride to achive Sustained 2.5 Gs. You can also check out the photo gallery on the main ETC page to see photos of the G-LAB, what appears to be a single car version of what they are basing the ride’s design on as well as the military grade trainers that can create up to 25 G’s.

Interesting. :) I forwarded this on to my DH, who has been making guesses about the ride. Thanks!

Ten! Excellent! That would give the attraction an OHRC of around 2400, as opposed to 960 with only 4 cabins per centrifuge (a figure that always worried me, although it was based on my guess of how many cabins there would be).

More rumors:

The queuing area inside the International Space Training Center, contains a series of railed areas, similar to Test Track, with a huge Gravity Wheel suspended on one of the walls. There are a number of International flags hanging from the ceiling, representing the International feeling of the training centre.
The flight pods each contain 4 seats, with dividers running between each seat.

Each seat is equipped with an "over-the-shoulder" restraint, and its own sound system.

The pod's interior is very detailed, with a large number of controls and displays in front of the seats, each equipped with a joystick.

The pods are far larger than the Cyber Space mountain pods.

Standing is possible, similar to Star Tours in scale, but obviously only sized for 4 persons.

The ride is going to begin with the launch countdown, expect some psychological effects to build the tension here.

As launch approaches, the seats will roll back into the launch position (facing upwards, on your back), you will feel the engines roar, and blast off. Expect to be faced with large G Forces, and an immense feeling of speed as the craft escapes the Earth's pull.
During the flight there will be simulated weightlessness effects.
Each member of the 4 person team will have a mission to do during the flight. The outcome of the mission will depend on how well the team performed.

Wow! All I can say is that this attration sounds awesome. Definitely sounds like something that will be very popular for a very long time if the rumors are true.

I tell ya, this is definatly going to bring the guest back to epcot....now,if they'll only bulldoze wonders of life...

Sounds GREAT!!! Can't wait to try it. Can you IMAGINE the lines, though!!! Fastpass attraction, for sure! Should take the heat off of Test Track, as the only "real" ride in Epcot, though!

I do agree, they do need to update Wonders of Life, in a huge way... and while they are at it, they need to take a look/see at the Living Seas... it really isn't "living" anymore!

I was dicussing this with someone on another board....They should take WoL,close it down, gut it and turn it into an exhibit on weather. As for theming and a ride, they should go with the port discovery look(Ala Disneysea) and put in StormRider as their ride.
