A Overplanner's Pre-Trip Report

Okay, my husband is being...... difficult. That's the only nice way that i can put it.

Why? Well, I would like to do the Dessert Party. I've heard good things about it, but he's not convinced that it's worth the money. I've tried telling him that it's about the experience.

Did that work? Nope! He tells me, well I don't want desserts I just want to watch the fireworks and Chris doesn't eat dessert. Well, he will eat vanilla ice cream, but that's about it. Grrrrrrrr.....

I even tried asking him to do it for me. Nope. Nothing. He told me that I can do it by myself. Sure, that's what I want to do. Watch the fireworks all by myself.

I almost resorted to using my secret weapon, but couldn't quite bring myself to cry. LOL!! Men... I hate it when he's more sensible than me. LOL!

I'm still trying to figure out a way to do it though. :rolleyes1

I have wanted to do the dessert party since I read a hilarious review where the reviewer said she was too busy eating chocolate she hadn't even noticed her friend had left to use the restroom. It sounded good to me. My Mom offered to pay for my family to go to this on our trip last year but my kids wouldn't have eaten & my DH wasn't interested.

If you can't work it out this time, maybe on a future trip the DQ will go with you. :)

Great report so far!

I'm catching up and you had some moments that made me chuckle... yes, cry see if that will change DH's mind about the Dessert Party. :rotfl2: Or not...

I love the grumpy flip flops - perfect for your trip!

As for your other ADR plans.. why is it so hard to decide?? There's so many great choices. Boma for dinner and then seeing the animals after sounds like a perfect arrival night plan! :thumbsup2

I love your Grumpy flip-flops! And yay for getting to see your friends!!! :goodvibes

I agree about not doing the ADR during the party. That seems like a bit of a waste of party time to me too!

Hopefully you'll get to do the dessert party!

You know - I kind of agree with your DH about the dessert party. I know its the experience, but I have to agree that its really overpriced. But more importantly, you guys are on the DxDP. I did that plan once for a 4 night stay and I was constantly stuffed. I think adding more desserts on top of what I was already eating during the day would have just been too much. So, that's just my experience/opinion with the DxDP.

The location for watching Wishes isn't even that wonderful. Your table could be back under an overhang.

But if you really want to go, I think your DH should just agree. Or you need a DIS meet! pixiedust:

I do want to do it, but I'm thinking like you, we are probably going to be full from our DxDP. I'm trying to think how we are going to eat even more food. LOL! Maybe it's one of those things for a future trip when we do another trip.

Yeah, it good be a bad location and my husband said that he would rather ride the rides instead. Chris is trying to be a trooper and said that he would eat dessert with me there. I know that he said it just because he knows it's something I want to do. I love my son. He's always wanting to do something that he knows I want to do. Even if he doesn't really want to.

I guess I have a bit more time to decide.

Aww - that's sweet. He sounds like my son Nicholas!

Well you know from my TR, my opinions on the dessert party. It was completely about the experience, not the food.

If I had been on the DxDP, I'm not sure I would have paid extra for it. You'll be enjoying much better desserts with every meal! ;)

Awww ... I hope you get the dessert party thing figured out soon. Your son sounds so sweet! :goodvibes

I think I've pretty much given up on doing the dessert party. I just can't justify the extra expense of it if my guys aren't going to eat the desserts.

Sooooo, I finally decided on where to eat for our first night there. Because we are going to have extra credits I wanted to do some place special. So, I decided on the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I really wanted some place nice for our first night there and I know that DH and DS will love it. Since we will be dressed for the plane I figure that we can check in at the hotel and get there in plenty of time.

We have never been to the Yacht Club before. Never ventured over that way. So, I decided that I want this restaurant to be where we have our first meal. I really can't wait. I've heard good things about the restaurant and hope that it lives up to all that I've read.

Oh and I changed from San Angel Inn to Teppan Edo. I wanted to do something different and DH made a comment about wanting to eat at the restaurant in Japan. He has no idea that I planned this and I think that both my guys will enjoy it. ;)

I'm sure that I'm not done making plans yet. LOL! Thanks for bearing with me and all my changes.....

I think both your changes sound great. I'm glad you picked a signature restaurant like the Yachtsman to kick off your trip. What a great way to celebrate the start your your vacation! :thumbsup2

I think I may have offended a couple of my friends. not on here, but another message board that I post on. I just got tired of hearing them badmouth some things and well, I couldn't stay silent anymore. My husband tells me all the time that i have a big mouth and well, this just sealed it for a lot of people. :rotfl2:

Well, I went to Target today and lets just say that I need to stay out of that store when there's anything on sale there that I like.

I can hear you asking for an example. I'll be happy to give you one.

I found out that iTunes cards are on sale for 15% off. Well, since DH works there, he gets an employee discount. An extra 10%. When we use our red card he gets another 5% off. So, we saved quite a bit.

Well, as we were leaving the store I walked through the backpack section. I thought I had found the perfect backpack for the parks. Apparently i thought wrong. Because I'd seen the perfect backpack at Target a few times when we were shopping. Well, I always told myself, "Self, you have a perfectly good backpack and you don't need another one."

Well, apparently I wasn't listening to myself. LOL! Well, I sort of was. Because i didn't see the color that I wanted. So, I figured that I would just go home with the gift cards. Well, DH asked me if I wanted the orange or the blue one. Wait? What? They have the blue one that I wanted. Crap. Now I have to get it. Maybe not have to, but want to definitely. So, now I have two backpacks. I love them both. I can always rotate them. LOL!!

So, I was kidding Mike about getting some more gift cards for the trip. :rotfl: I love teasing him.

I went to look at the window clings and didn't see anything that I liked. I'm not much for the Princesses. I liked the fab 5 clings, but they are just so big. I have to either decide yes or no and whether I want to get them or not. I'm really waiting for the Halloween stuff to start coming out. I can't wait!!

Heck, who are you to argue with your DH if he says to get the new backpack!!! :lmao: What a guy!!

We will be trying Yachtsman the first time this trip as well. I'm so excited to try it. You may have made a good decision changing SAI to Teppan Edo. (mixed reviews and such) We're also going to Teppan Edo which is one of our favorites even though it is pretty much the same as any local tepanyaki. :)

I won't judge you if your ADRs change again! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 on your plans for eating at Yachtsman. My TA recommends that place highly. While you're over at the YC, wander around a little for me, then come back and tell me what you think. :teeth:

Love the two backpacks. DH and I got the camelbak ones at Costco - I'm fervently hoping I will be able to carry all that weight around all day. :crazy2:

Did you find the links I left for you in my PTR about the window signs?

I love the camelbaks, but I carry a bit too much stuff. LOL! That's why I decided on those. LOL!!

Yeah, I saw the links, but I didn't think that she's taking any more orders. It just seemed like that from what I read in the thread. Maybe I was wrong though. LOL!!

I'll have to think about it. LOL! I could have been mistaken.

:teeth: She is. THIS IS THE THREAD you use for her to make requests. Read post #1. Go to her photobucket page (it's in her siggy line). Pick the DISign you want. Go to that thread. Give the jpg name (as in thisdisign.jpg) and what modifications you want made to it (such as adding your DIS name, the date, whatever). Don't post a link ... just give the jpg name. :teeth: THIS POST has a good explanation of her specifications and how she wants you to ask.

She's very, very talented ... and thus very busy. ;) But she just posted some new stuff tonight, so I know she's still doing them. You just need to ask. ;) Promise! :cool2:

;) I'm headed over there right now. I'm going to check out her things and hopefully I can find something. LOL! I'm very, very picky!! That's my big problem.

I think your plans for Yachtsman sound great! I've never been there, but I love the Yacht Club and have heard great things about it! :thumbsup2

Hahaha I am always in search of the perfect park touring bag! So far my favorite are cross-body purses, because they aren't too bulky, and so I can't load them down with too many things! My Mini Hipster from Vera Bradley is one of my favorites, along with my Disney Dooney, of course! :thumbsup2

I've always wanted to eat there and since we are doing the Deluxe Dining plan I figure this is one the of the few times that I can eat there and not feel too guilty about it!! LOL!!

Well, I would go with a smaller bag, a fanny pack is actually perfect, but since my husband refuses to carry a bag and my DS is too scatterbrained to carry one, I get elected to do it. LOL!!
