I am looking for the best resort to stay for one night? We would like to go one day ahead of our cruise sailing and plan to just do dining and downtown Disney - any ideas? We are DVC Members and have stayed at the Beach Club but wanted to try something different. It will be myself, hubby and daughter 11 y.o.
Thanks!

I wasn't sure whether you meant you wanted to go DVC and try something different than BC; or doing something different Non-DVC.

For regular resorts, I would stay at POFQ; it is a small compact resort that would be good for one night.

They just had a refurb and now have queen sized beds.

They are on the loop with the water taxi to DTD, so you have a better option of getting there than by bus at the other resorts.

Water taxis run every 20 minutes from 11 to 4; then every 10 minutes from 4 to 11. POFQ is the first pick-up and the last pick-up on every trip, so you have a very good chance of not waiting long at all for the water taxi.

If you were planning on using DVC points, then SSR is just a walk/water taxi away from DTD.

Hello! I have a couple ideas based on our recent experience. We also love BC and our boys are ages 12, 11 and 4, so maybe these will be helpful. Before our August cruise, we stayed at BWI and absolutely loved it. We stayed in a CL boardwalk view room, and I couldn't believe how quiet and peaceful BWI is in the morning - and so close to the water! The dining options in that area are wonderful - Yachtsman, Bluezoo, Il Mulino, Flying Fish - yum! If you're using DCL transfers, it's super easy. We just met in the Belle Vue lounge and boarded the DCL bus.

Another resort we love for a non-parks visit is AKL. I'm not a fan of animals, so we stayed in a pool view room (not all five of us - they only accomodate 4.) For a non-parks stay, I really loved it. The pools at AKL are great - guests can use both the Kidani pool and the main AKL pool. And Jiko is one of my favorite restaurants at Disney. (Sanaa is great, too.) It's well-themed, the lobby smells great and the rooms were in great condition.

All that said, I'm stopping by WDW on the way from the beach to the Orlando airport with our youngest son in April, and we're staying at POFQ. If you're looking for a more moderately priced option, it looks great. Although if you have DCL transfers, I'm not sure whether they pick up there.

Good luck with your decision and have a great trip!

I believe DCL picks up at all the WDW resorts. At least I've seen the bus at all the resorts we've stayed at :goodvibes

If you are just going to DTD, maybe SSR would be good for 1 night. Or as mentioned, POR or FQ have the boat to DTD, a nice option. And they have evening entertainment in the lounge, we love Bob Jackson's show at POR. I can't remember what nights he's there. But easy enough to look up. The POR thread will have the sched.

We're cruising in April and are staying (on points) at BLT for one night. We want to go to the Top of the World lounge to watch Wishes, swim and ride the monorail (kids will be 7 and 4) around the Poly and GF.

We stayed one night after a cruise and didn't do parks - just went swimming and to DTD. We stayed at POR and loved the boat to DTD and the main pool and quiet pool options. POFQ would also be a good choice, but I didn't like their pool. If you want DVC, Saratoga Springs is walking distanct to DTD and OKW is close as well.
