*** A Note from the Moderators ***

This has happened to me twice on the Branson, MO forum. I really didn't appreciate it so I don't use that forum anymore. Thanks Knox.

I hope no one else is taken in by the cowardly solicitors! I call them cowards, and that's what they are - hiding behind what they think is a loophole to lure in victims. If their business is legitimate, they should have the ability to get clients without resorting to this.

Thanks for the heads up!

There truly is no safe place on the internet. How sad. Thanks Mods for reminding everyone to be careful. I would also add that people should be reporting these PMs to the Mods so they can take action against the poster.

Just a note here to say that more folks have PM'd me about this issue than just about anything else that has ever come up on the boards.

I had no idea this problem was so rampant!

Hopefully these reminders will bring this issue to a rapid end on the DIS Resorts Board.

Just want to say thank you to the moderators. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.

The Dis is the place to find answers!

I have a message that was sent to me from a travel agent using the DIS boards to solicit. The message was sent when I first signed up. I didn't even think about this being against the rules. I don't delete my inbox. I guess I'm sort of a "pack rat" or mouse :rotfl: Would it be helpful for the mods to get a copy of the message. If it will help keep the boards friendly and helpful? :confused3

I really enjoy the DIS boards. People are so friendly and helpful. :goodvibes

I'm new (obviously, haha) and have been approached twice to be "helpful" with my travel through PM. I had no idea that this was against board rules so was glad to see this post!

Thanks for the info! It has never happened to me so far, but it's valuable information for new readers!

I also wanted to say thank you to the moderators for all their effort they put in in keeping these boards a friendly place and for their informative posts!! :goodvibes

I guess I was surprised that I have read some posts made that let you know that they were TA but I myself have never received a PM to help me. I guess the posts could be hints to PM the TA poster. That's how I took it anyway, and I thought that really wasn't allowed. But now that I read about all the PMs, maybe not so subtle. Glad it's taken care of since these types of boards aren't for that purpose. Thanks to the moderators for keeping the money making things out of it!

SO....if someone is good at making something and shows a pic of it and another DISer wants them to make the same for theirselves, that other DISer isn't allowed to do it or talk about it via private message?!?!?

I just don't understand that. I just wanna be totally clear for myself in the future. Thanks!!!:thumbsup2

If you're charging money or asking for something in return - that's conducting business which is not allowed on the DIS.

DIS POSTING GUIDELINES

If you're not conducting business.. then all these things can be shared in the creative community on the open boards without worry.

Make sense?
